What the hell do you even see in acts like Kelly Rowland, Kelly Clarkson and Rihanna? They don't write their own songs, they don't do anything. All their songs are written by dirty old men who have sex with people at Billboard to make sure they have a hit on their hands. So again, what do they do that is so amazingly great? They have a pretty face, grab themselves a record deal, and the world eats them up.

I agree with that "prettier and more unique" part, since the former applies to Jordin and the latter to Blake. I know that the best SINGER doesn't always win, but I was just surprised seeing as she had never been in the bottom 3 and her 3 performances on Tuesday were far better than the other two's. It just seems to me like people CHANGED their vote from Melinda to Blake or Jordin and I don't get why.

P.S. I know that not everybody likes "American Idol", but to insult people just because of their tastes is a bit extreme, IMHO. There really is no need to call them idiots or other things, and I'm not talking just about liking this show in particular.

This is something that realy bothers me. People do this all the time. Let me lay out for you the major types of music related talents for you.

1)Talented writers-Often these people have less pure musicianship talent and more creativity such as Bob Dylan, Johhny Cash, and Kurt Cobane

2)Talented Musician- this one is obvious, they are simply realy good with one or more instrument but often write music that the public can't fully appreciate. Stevie Ray Vaughn, Les Claypool, Chopin, Fle, and Victor Wooten.

3)Stars- This includes the majority of musicians that the average person knows of. Often these people are beautiful, charismatic, and have a gift for being dramatic. Frequently these people suceed even when less talented than there couterparts. Some examples are Dave Navaro, Britany Spears, many d.j's and diva's also.

Now all this being said anyone with music knowledge, training, and experience will tell you that the bands you are defending and assaulting are not that far from each other on the spectrum. They are all stars who got famous for being such. The difference is that most of yours fall under the less talented and more creative group, while his fall under more talented and less creative. Who is to say which is more important? They are all popular, modern, mainstream, acts that entertain for thousands, and make a whole lot of money off of people buying their merhcandise.

What is the point of all this you may ask? Well I would say that it is futile to judge why you, or why anyone, would like something bassed on criteria of any nature.....simply listen and enjoy. If you are too misanthropic to allow other to do the same, then you are nothing but a closed minded music facist.

I love how you overexaggerate alot of the things you mentioned there. It's typical of persons like yourself and the kind of thing that's seen alot.
Firstly consider that I am gay so I really don't give a damn what the singer looks like and that should tell you I only listen to female vocalists.
A good number of the persons I listen to write their own songs (my favourite singer has practically written all 4 of her albums) and I don't see why someone who doesn't write their own songs but sings should have to be subject to such critiscism. Not everyone can write songs and not all those can have them used or are allowed to have them used.
I like to sing but don't write songs and a damn good majority of the world are in the same category. One of the main differences is we're not getting paid like the big name singers and the reasons why are pretty obvious. They are the same reasons that are the answers to the question you just asked and since you can't even answer it yourself after your little rants and given that you too listen to music, there's really no point in me giving the answer. I'm sure you'll eventually figure it out though since you obviously seem to know everything about everything when in actuality you know very little about little.

I never said you in particular cared what they look like. I meant that if they didn't look good, they wouldn't have a record contract. And that is the truth. You can't even try to deny it.

Says who? Do you not understand that the majority of musicians in the history of the world did not write their songs. Think about it, folk, blues, jazz, classical, rock all of these genres have a few people that write the songs and then millions who play them. There is only one conductor in an orchestra, and one person who composed the peice they play. There can be more than 100 musicians in that orchestra. Are they not important? Is the music meaningless to them? Who are you to assign value to a persons work. Obivously you either didn't read, or chose not to even listen to my previous post. This is the same kind of attitude that people take when they assign value to a person life, (see also social darwinism, eugenics, and facism) maybe you should think about the times that people have looked at you as worthless, or unimportant and assigned your life no value. I feel sorry for you, having to live with such a miserable point of view. I don't know if you are aware of it, but you are a frequent source of conflict around here. I suspect this is greatly due to your closed minded nature, though I do give you some credit for your sence of humor often being misunderstood.

You're talking about pop music because it's an easy target. Fact is, is that whether or not Kelly Clarkson, Beyonce, Rihanna or whoever wrote all or a majority of their songs (which all three did btw) they're still far richer than you are. They must be doing something right.
