Update 3: Electronic Arts' director of corporate communications Jeff Brown said in a statement to IGN, "This story is a total fabrication – 100 percent not true."
Update 2: A trusted development source tells IGN, "To the best of my knowledge no one here knows what [the new Xbox] will be. Only that it will probably drop in 2013."
Update 1: An unnamed source tells Eurogamer an E3 2011 reveal for Microsoft's next Xbox is "highly unlikely," putting Develop's E3 rumor to rest for now.
Original Story: Citing an unnamed source, UK-based video game industry magazine Develop is reporting that Microsoft has provided Electronic Arts with development hardware that will become the next Xbox as early as 2012.
According to the report, the hardware is housed in a PC shell, a common practice for early console development kits. Develop's source, described as a "senior, trusted, well-placed" person who works at neither EA nor Microsoft, told the magazine an E3 2011 reveal is likely.
We've reached out to Microsoft and EA for comment.

Far too soon for a new Microsoft console. Especially when the system is in it's prime right now for userbase. Just because Nintendo is feeling the heat and producing new hardware doesn't mean there is a need for the other contenders to leapfrog after them when they are doing well.

there were reports of a possible 2015 release date. so i wonder maybe if this is the case
Honestly, I think I've gotten to a point in my life to where I think whats the point of buying all these new gaming systems?. Just keep playing your current system and enjoy it. I think it's all just a waste of money to keep buying all of these new gaming systems, because of the price the gaming companies want for them. I'm more of a last generation gamer anyways (PS2 era). Can't wait to find out how much these next gen games will cost us lol.

I read that too, and it included Sony as well. Considering Both the Kinect and Move launched roughly 6 months ago, I honestly don't see either MS or Sony coming out with a new system for a few years.
