Even though i sometimes i think Jaded-Raven is a bit self-discriminatory and i did tough that the "Gay men and MK" thread was discriminatory,i don't really see a problem with this thread, and here is why:

The previous thread was about how gay people saw MK, wich is ridiculous because gay people are just people, and as such are completely different from each other and as varied opinions as the rest of the people. Being gay won't change your perspective about a game, a movie or a book, unless it has a gay thematic, in that case you could feel touched in a different way than straight people because you relate to it in a diferent way, but that goes to a huge amount of topics (for example, i don't feel the same way about 9/11 than people on the US do), at the end what matters is that discussing MK from a gay perspective is as ridiculous as discussing MK from a "i like chocolate" perspective, both topics have no influence in your perspective of MK.

With this thread is different, because this is not a thread created to discuss "X" thing from a gay perspective, the way i see this is a thread to share personal experiences related to being gay, such as there is a thread to discuss wrestling, or as there is one to discuss ponies. Being gay could be a little more deep than those topics (or could not), but still this is just a group of people with something in common who want to talk about it, I don't see something discriminative about that. And it's not that other people can't come, if they are interested they are more than welcome to read, post and ask whatever they want. At least this is the idea i have about this topic. wink

I think there's a few people in denial in this thread, Personally I know I'm not gay, one time I was wiping my ass after taking a shit and my finger went right through the paper and straight up my bum!

Didn't enjoy it one bit, so I'm not gay.

LOL, that's hilarious. But you know that taking it up the ass doesn't qualify you as gay right? There are plenty of straight men who like their female partners to 'peg' them. If you dont know what pegging is, google it, it's not very child friendly lol.
Weirdly enough, plenty of 'straight' men don't care where they get their oral sex. This also doesn't necessariy mean you're gay. But then again, my definition is all about who you're mentally and phyically attracted to more,

This is very, very true. There's a guy in my job who's "straight" and yet I'm convinced if he thought he could get away with hooking up with me he'd be like butter on toast. Sexuality is a lot more fluid than people think, or should I say, are brave enough to admit.

I think it's more fluid based on the person, as opposed to it being fluid for everyone. Not everyone is interested secretly or not in hooking up and experimenting outside of their sexual norms.

I mean I have zero desire to hook up with a chick(women are beautiful and all, but I have zero attraction to them), so no I'm not curious enough to ever have sex with a woman and I think a lot of straight and gay people might share this opinion and be totally comfortable with who they are sexually.

Of course I know there's plenty of people who are very open to things and are cool with experimenting.

Everyone's different and that's okay.

Ah yeah, I'm not applying that term generally. But I do think it's not as black and white as a lot of people would think, there's a lot of people out there who are happy to grey it up a little bit ;)

I don't watch Ru Paul, but I want someone to just take all Sharon Needles clips from the episodes and put it together so I can just watch her in action uninterrupted.

Youtube her name and watch "412/724 Whore. It's a trashy music video she made about her being a prostitue in Pittsburgh. It's stupid funny.

On the topic of role models:

My gay role models are the guys from Hüsker Dü. Bob Mould (Guitarist) and Grant Hart (Drummer) are gay. They don't fit any stereotypes, they made some amazing and powerful music, and just generally kick ass. They're a huge influence on me and my music, and I can only hope that one day I'll be half as awesome.

When I think of gay role models, I think of Neil Patrick Harris.

I have way too many gay friends who act as if being gay means that they have to consistently put on a show and have their orientation define their entire character. I like Neil Patrick Harris, because his sexuality is just one aspect of the man that he is, as opposed to being everything you need to know about him.

Heh, even though this is just a pure joke and all, my boyfriend and I keeps saying about Neil Patrick Harris is that the reason why he's gay is because he's that awesome and that no girl could complete him.

For the longest time, I didn't believe he was gay. I don't know why, it wasn't like I was in complete denial when I learned the truth, but... being in movies and on shows that has him staring as one sexy beast, it never really hit me that he was indeed gay. Me finding out the truth was back in high school. This was still around the time when I was finding out that guys can date guys and girls can date girls...

I was a very oblivious person back in high school.

After finding out the truth, however, he's still one sexy mother fucker. Come on... it's true!

My gay role model is any gay person who can be as open minded as they want others to be. The gay community can be extremely closed minded funnily enough, which is ridiculous. I regularly hear and see prejudice toward the trans-groups, people who aren't drop dead gorgeous, even just plain ol' drag queens, etc... There's even a lack of acceptance for different kinds of gay people. It's not hard to find a more theatrical gay guy saying that anyone who isn't like him is just repressed, while a more down to earth guy can be downright venomous to anyone who isn't just like him.

I myself am I very fun loving, theatrical person (which stems more from just being a creative type, for me) who is also prone to silence, deep thought, and a general subtlety outside of certain social settings... So, the whole 'fake flamboyant bitch gay' versus 'repressed closeted boring gay' argument always grates my cheese. It's more of a problem for younger people I think, since they haven't quite swallowed their teenage selfishness, but.... It's still there. So, my gay role models are the people who are able to look past all those barriers we put up around ourselves and others and just be.

Also, Rufus Wainwright to an extent, because he released a certain album that's just him and his piano that is really a unique experience when you sit in the dark and listen to it. As a pianist it gave me lots to think about.
