Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

I’ve seen it twice already and loved it! The directorial change is easily noticeable, but that doesn’t stop you from enjoying the film! Fans of the books and those who liked the films will love this but it’s more of the same for those who aren’t so avoid it.

The cast is great! Gary Oldman is cool as Sirius black. Although you may not recognise him as that guy seems to be a master of disguise. A friend of mine was shocked when I told him who it was.

David Thewlis played the part of Professor Lupin well and he definitely looked the part. Those who remember the books will know of his transformation and you’ll see that and it looks pretty cool.

Michael Gambon plays Dumbledore now and does it pretty well although there is a noticeable difference in how he plays this character.

As for the Harry, Ron and Hermione and the other children, they’ve all grown with their parts well! As teenagers now they help carry on the story pretty well and Tom Felton who plays Draco Malfoy is hilarious! You’ll know what I mean when you see the film. Emma Watson is also great in her performance as she gives Hermione a slightly rebellious attitude.

Rupert Grint is comedic as ever as Ron and Daniel Radcliffe is still the same old Harry Potter only he seems more confident in the role now and plays Harry well.

As for entertainment, you’ll be laughing through this film a lot! There are so many funny moments and for those of you who remember the books, you’ll get to see the Boggart scene! wink

The Dementors of Azkaban prison look great and I love the effects they use when they are approaching. You’ll see that also.

And Buckbeak the Hippogriff looks amazing! There are several flight scenes with Buckbeak and the first encounter with him is great.

Look out for Dawn French as the Fat Lady. Although she may not be as well known to American watchers as she is to us Brits.

Obviously there’s a lot missed out from the books, but the film is still enjoyable. I hope you all enjoy as much as I did.

j/k, lol. Anyways, I liked the books, and this new movie looks like a goody. Atleast better than that "rushed" Chamber of Secrets. smile

Curses! I can't see the movie until Saturday. I'm staying home from school, yes, but mom has to be at school until 5pm, because then she won't have to work Saturday, because heaven forbid she can't miss Power Rangers: Dino Thunder. Dude, I can miss an episode of Dino Thunder and I won't be complaining about it. And we can't go Friday night because at 8:00, the season premiere of Degrassi is going to be on, but we can't go see it right afterwards, even though summer vacation officially starts that night....

Hmmmm..correct me if I'm wrong, but there isn't a single American in Harry Potter until the 4th book and then only a brief mention of the American Witches Institute. Most of the characters are of the UK. The movies are filmed in the UK and JK Rowling even insists on no American actors unless there is no one else. Sorry, been lurking around at the HP boards and am personally a fan of HP.
I'm just happy that the movie is coming out nationwide tomorrow.

I'm so glad I've seen it already! It was only released early over here because all the kids had been complaining about it's release! On the posters for it it said 'Opens Bank Holiday Mon 31 - Due to unprecedented demand'.

If it wasn't for that, you'd have all seen it before me.

I love HP books, they really becomes interesting with Prisoner of Azkaba, but I don't like movies and video games very much. I'm going to see 3rd film, but I just cant wait till 6th book comes out.

On my way to work today there were like 3 reviews and they all came back bad. Not that the reviews are gonna stop me from seeing the movie.

I stopped listening to reviews years ago....after all they are only opinions. Must be a great job, get paid to watch movies and then gripe about them. My opinion is that the movie was much better than COS but not as good as PS/SS. Yeah, I just got back from watching it. My only complaint is they got some of the story in the wrong order when compared to the book.

What do you mean by MEXICAN director????

You can clearly see the difference in the 3 films, and Alfonso Cuaron did a BETTER job in that movie then C. Colombus did.

Colombus practicly killed the first movie, the second was much better, but this one is awesome! The best. So much better then the last 2.

I loved it!

You can see this mexican director has much more magic in making movies then the north american colombus.

Harry Potter is true magic. The books transformed me and made me love literature so much! After reading the 5 books for MORE then 23 times (EACH one) I only have to say, that woman is brilliant.

I'm sure this movie (and from reviews) is going to be the best of the 3 potter films. Tgrant you are so lucky! smile

Harry Potter has changed the world of literature in kids and adults forever.

Jade2004, I'm sure your comment was not ment to be racist or anything, but in future, please try to go a little deeper in explaining or be careful with what you write, because it sounded as if you were discriminating the Mexican or Latin American people.

I'm sure you ment no harm, but try to remember that so we can avoid flames and wars! smile

BTW. I agree with soulowls, by only seeing the trailers I can say Alfonso Cuaron is by far, 10000x better director then Chris Colombus.

I’m sure Cuaron did an outstanding job!

OMG I AM SO SORRY i didn't mean it in a racist way at all. I just feel that Chris colombus did a better job and i also feel that the job would be done better by a brittish director (i don't mean this to be racist either but the story is a british concept)

Again I am so sorry if Offended anyone

they're both awesome! Hermione is my fave character in the books! The way she handled Malfoy and her attitude towards the teachers was great! Emma Watson owns!

As for Ron, he's always funny! His midnight dream was classic! I'm so glad they put that in there! Tap dancing spiders! LOL
