To answer an earlier question: I don't speak it because I was never taught it. My mom decided to have me educated in English over here, and never bothered instructing me. I know enough to read basic sentences, though.

Actually the definition of Latino in Webster's dictionary says hispanic (hispanic being printed in caps to indicate, 'see hispanic'). Hispanic is defined as of or pertaining to Spain or Spanish-speaking countries. So by that definition, anyone of any Spanish or Latin American decent is latino or hispanic, but Portuguese, Brazillians, Italians, and French are not. I think when people hear the word hispanic or latino and think of race, the technical term is Mestizo, which is a mix of the caucasian Spanish and the natives of Mexico and Central and South America.

Anyway, no, I'm not hispanic, latino or mestizo (although some have said I look hispanic, and, as is rarely the case outside of Spanish names, my last name ends with z). However I do speak a bit of Spanish from taking 3 1/2 years of it in high school.

*note: I know there should have been a couple alterations of letters and punctuation in there, ie. the n in espanol and the upside-down question mark, but I don't remember how to do those.

Well, I have some ancestry in Spain, although I am still probably 95% Non-Spaniard blood, and my last name is Anglo, and Spanish is not a first language for me, but my step sister is half Mexican and Puerto Rican, and my brother's wife is a Tejana. So, hmm, I guess I'm Hispanic in a way lol.

Oh ethnic labels can be so contradicting, especially when you have an odd background like me lol.

That's one thing I have noticed from studying spanish, Chicano's speak some really GHETTO Spanish.

Great Grandfather was Mexican/Mexican Indian, on my mother's side. On my father's side I have no idea, but likelyhoods include NA. Just look at the picture and decide. Let me know your findings:

Well...I'm Half Mexican, 25% Mexican and another 25% Mexican for good measure.
