I gotta say i'm unhappy about the more recent departures of good users, it's the few good old users and some (but not many) new good ones left that are keeping me returning.

The website itself needs a huge overhaul (like we've all been saying for a while) and what with all the new thread topics (i don't know, like 25 per day) it's easy to get lost in the deluge.

I actually like this forum a lot. Which is why I was really bothered by the idea that everyone here doesn't like me now. I'll try to be more positive from now on.

Yeah, I don't really remember it being quite this crazy of negative or whatever leading up to the next game. It's been strange coming on here and seeing so much anger and nonsense, but at least there are some cool people around here as well. Props to you, OP.

This is pretty much how I'm feeling at the moment, and it's one of the reasons I've been posting less and less lately, when normally I'm active up to a game's launch. I mean, I was never really all that active save for during game releases, but I used to have some urge to post. For multiple reasons, that hasn't really been the case for the last few weeks. I've been forcing it when I do.

A number of things are responsible for that, but at the foremost is, I'm guessing, my age. MK attracts a certain demographic, and not to come off as insulting, but in terms of general attitude and etiquette, there are very few people remaining here with whom I have much in common with. There's a whole different, younger crop of regular users popping up, who have been here for a while, as well as a whole mess of immature children - the latter of which has been worse than usual for this game. It's made me feel like I'm too old for MKO nowadays. It's been...a very long time since it was mk5.org.

I'm not about to do anything so melodramatic, juvenile, or insipid as to create a goodbye thread to say "I'm leaving now thxbai", but the days when I frequented this board daily and formed connections are well and truly behind me. C'est la vie.

I'm convinced it has to do with us getting older and having been with the site for so long. My account is ten years old. It serves as this weird time capsule for me. Have you ever looked up your old posts? Fucking bonkers.

Anyways, I think having been on the site for so long you'll tend to get tired of the formulaic routine. I don't think MKO right now is more hostile than before. Its always like this pre-release. This level of hostility and shitpost after shitpost has kinda been normal for the past decade. I think being here for so long, we're now able to distinctly see this cycle happen over and over.

I. MKO is dead because of a lack of news

II. Tidbits of info come in, MKO gets more traffic

III. New MK is revealed, site is now packed with discussions. However these discussions are repetitive as all hell for people who have seen them before. Are Kitana's boobs too big? Why is Scorpion shoved down our throats? Guest characters are the devil. Boon tweets. Kaeraktareak konfirmed?!?! Blargh, nostalgia glasses are ruining MK! We want Fujin! Its the same nonsensical shit that we've discussed to death with MKD, MKSM, MKA, MK8, MK9 and now MKX. Its so repetitive and I'm tired of the same boring discussions. I've never been this inactive during an MK game's pre-release and I think that has to do with having been through so many myself. Its not really the site's fault. Its definitely not the mod's fault. I just think the fanbase is so...bleh.

Another thing is that we've all been a part of those discussions beforehand. There's nothing for us to gain by joining the argument again. Ultimately the older users just don't give a fuck anymore. That's the feeling I have and I imagine a lot of people feel the same way.

IV. Game comes out, story is dissected, maybe casual vs. competitive gets discussed a bit (Casselman is a scrub btw), but that's pretty much it. With DLC being a common feature now, MKO's traffic continues for a bit longer after the game's release.

V. Game has been out for maybe six months. MKO enters its long hibernation until NRS announces its next project.

Repeat.

This post went on longer than I thought. Its a stream of conscious and probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but fuck it I don't care. I love you bunny-fucking clownfags.
