I'm very sorry to hear that. My prayers goes out to you. I don't like alcohol and I don't drink. One of my friend's dad died of alcohol poisoning as well. From what I seen also alcohol can ruined relationships. I see many horror stories about it. That's why I stay away from it. I don't see the fun of it at all.

I've had problems with drugs and alcohol on both sides of my family. I still have the occasional drink every now and then, but drinking has never been a priority of mine. I've also had several friends who'd rather let a bottle or pills help them with their problems, so I know what you're going through.

Well the only alcohol I use is the rubbing kind unless you are saying that all alcohol is bad because I also use cough drops a lot.

Had 2 good mojito cocktails, and a double shot of JWalker black late last evening at 1 Oak on 453w 17th st with some old friends.
I try to keep my 3 of 3 rule going. If it's good, no more then 3 drinks is necessary for me. Then im good with water or a coke, and maybe an appetizer if the kitchen part is still open in the bar. I dont like that creepy laid back feeling of no control when I drink. If it helps, look at it like Candy or a one night-sexyGirl. Just because it tastes good to you, doesnt mean it is good for you in the long run.

Drink responsibly. There are people who can't control it, and unfortunately there's not a whole lot you can do for them other than voice your concerns. But for yourself, if you find yourself strangely reliant on alcohol, nip it in the bud before it gets ugly.

I rarely drink, but when I do, I typically go all out. Still, I'm always coherent enough to know not to drink and drive, or do something incredibly dangerous. I don't usually go out to drink, because I can see me shooting my fat mouth off and getting beaten to death, so we usually throw small house parties in the safety of my home with nobody but close friends.

I drink once in a blue moon. Drink alot. Get fuk'd. Have a mcmuffin and a nice coke the next morning. Ahhhh.... life.

I'm going to say the same thing i did on your 'men's advice' thread. Moderation. It's OK to have a drink or 4, just not every night.

The problems are gluttony and addiction, not alcohol or self-pleasuring.

Sorry to hear that, OP. I think that alcohol, like many things, is something that must be used in moderation and some people just aren't capable of it.

Call it weakness, call it minor thrill seeking, call it an addictive personality, call it what you will, but some people get started with something and it's like a ball rolling down a hill. They might hit a plateau every now and then, but it's very easy for them roll over the next edge, even when they think they've hit bottom.

I understand hating alcohol itself. I apologize for my bluntness here, but while you have my sympathy, I'd also like to give you some unsolicited advice, if you don't mind. To me, hatred is a wasted emotion, especially when you're talking about an inanimate object.

Anger is a feeling in your brain that helps you process and burn off that which you're reacting to. It's a way to funnel your frustration at people and their decisions in to something that you can despise, since you don't want to despise the people themselves, even if they continually disappoint you.

Instead of burning it off, you can maybe use the strength of that emotion to help your stepmom. Perhaps you have already, but keep at it, as hard and as frustrating as I'm sure it can be.

Someone with an addiction can easily succumb to it and any help, any foundation of support, whether wanted or not is worthwhile and can be of use. Perhaps look in to support groups online (if you haven't already) and see what people who are around acoholics have to say about how to deal with them and perhaps even help them.

I'm very sorry that you're having to deal with this. I'm sorry for your loss and I'm sorry that you're in this situation with your stepmom. Hopefully there's a light at the end of the tunnel, and for your sake, I hope you find it soon..

I'm with you bro. I'm sorry to OP for the pain that alcohol has caused you, but I love the stuff. I never drive if I'm drinking though. That's just stupid. Taxi cabs exist for a reason!

I have never drank alcohol in my life and most probably never will. I really do not see the appeal of it. The only person in my family who would drink was my father and that was only wine.
