Damned if I can think of anybody in particular for the role. I'd love to avoid a sort of bland, featureless dirty-blonde blockhead, though. Which is kind of what I'd expect in 2014.

Honestly, I never really gave it any thought, since Marvel have so far been spot-on with their casting.

- 'Daredevil': Exclusive new photos from Marvel series

Netflix’s Daredevil is “the exact opposite” of Affleck’s much-maligned 2003 bomb, promises showrunner Steven S. DeKnight. [...]

“There aren’t going to be people flying through the sky; there are no magic hammers,” says Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb. “We’ve always approached this as a crime drama first, superhero show second.” There’s also more grown-up content here. “It’s a little grittier and edgier than Marvel has gone before,” says DeKnight, best known for the ultra-hardcore Starz series Spartacus, adding, “but we’re not looking to push it to extreme violence or gratuitous nudity.”

The ‘devil will eventually get his iconic red costume, but first he’ll wear the black duds seen here—inspired by Frank Miller’s graphic novel Daredevil: Man Without Fear. For Cox, the biggest challenge was deftly navigating Murdock without using his eyes. Simple things like making breakfast or getting dressed suddenly become trickier than fighting bad guys. “Like, I put on a shirt but I can’t look where the buttons are, because Daredevil wouldn’t know where the buttons are. But I also can’t fumble,” Cox says. No pressure, but another thing you’re not allowed to fumble: Marvel’s winning streak.

A little bit more in the article, so check it out. Just nice to hear somebody reiterate the legit costume will show up. Calling out a contrast between it and the 2003 movie is easy, likewise calling it a crime drama first. Key will be how they deliver that.

- Mike Colter Set as Luke Cage for Marvel, Netflix

Marvel and Netflix have found their Luke Cage.

Following an extensive casting search, The Following and The Good Wife alum Mike Colter has officially nabbed the sought-after role, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

During the course of an investigation in New York, private investigator Jessica Jones encounters the enigmatic Luke Cage — a man whose past has secrets that will dramatically alter Jessica herself in ways she could never have imagined.

Colter will make his Marvel universe debut with the recurring role opposite Krysten Ritter in Jessica Jones — the second of four dramas picked up straight to series — before being spun off to topline the Luke Cage show. He'll eventually team with Daredevil's Charlie Cox, Ritter and the uncast Iron Fist in mini The Defenders to conclude all four stories. Twilight's Melissa Rosenberg will oversee Jessica Jones.

- David Tennant To Play Kilgrave In Marvel's "A.K.A. Jessica Jones"

Marvel.com has announced that David Tennant ("Doctor Who," "Broadchurch") has joined the cast of "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" in the role of Kilgrave. Tennant joins Krysten Ritter ("Breaking Bad," "Don't Trust The B---- In Apt. 23"), who will play the titular character in the upcoming Netflix series. Mike Colter will also star as Luke Cage.

The announcement offers a little bit of information on Kilgrave and gives the impression that Tennant will have a major part to play in the thirteen-episode series. "An enigmatic figure from Jessica's past," reads the announcement, "Kilgrave's reappearance will send shockwaves through the former super hero's world." Executive producer and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg praised Tennant in the announcement, saying that he will "make Kilgrave a truly original villain."

Fans of Jessica Jones' original comic book series, "Alias," will definitely recognize the surname "Kilgrave" as belonging to Jones' arch enemy -- the Purple Man. Zebediah Killgrave -- spelled with two L's in the comics -- made his debut back in 1964's "Daredevil" #4. A master of mind control and manipulation, the Purple Man became a big deal when writer Brian Michael Bendis set him up as Jones' main antagonist in her 2001 ongoing series.

Useful info for those not in the know.

- "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" Adds Rachael Taylor as Long-Running Marvel Character

The latest addition to "A.K.A. Jessica Jones" is Rachael Taylor, announced Thursday by Marvel Television to be joining the Netflix series in the role of Trish Walker. She'll be Jessica Jones' best friend on the show, but comics fans know "Patsy" Walker as a Golden Age character who in the 1970s became the Marvel superhero Hellcat.

Here's the official description of Trish Walker: "After a tragic ending to her short-lived super hero stint, Jessica Jones is rebuilding her personal life and career as a detective who gets pulled into cases involving people with extraordinary abilities in New York City. Trish is a syndicated radio talk show host, former model and child TV star known to her adoring fans as "Patsy" Walker. As Jessica Jones’ closest friend, Trish helps her embark on the most dangerous case of Jessica's career. The character of Patricia Walker has roots dating back to 1944 with her first appearance in 'Miss America Magazine' #2, and in the comics Walker donned the super hero identity of Hellcat in 1976."

Wasn't expecting Hellcat! That's kinda neat! I guess she probably won't have the costume, though. That's a lot less neat. That's mildly sorted, in a slightly untidy manner.

- Carrie-Anne Moss Joins Marvel's "AKA Jessica Jones"

Marvel has announced another cast member for their upcoming Netflix series, "A.K.A. Jessica Jones": "Matrix" trilogy veteran Carrie-Anne Moss. Unlike previous cast additions David Tennant and Rachael Taylor, no character name was given for Moss' character in the official announcement. The Wrap, however, has reported that Moss' character goes by the name Harper.

The announcement does offer up a little bit of information about Moss' role, calling her character "a no-nonsense woman who could prove a powerful ally to Jessica... if Jessica doesn’t completely alienate her first."

Looks a little cheap, but if you were following along, you probably knew what to expect. I think it'll be the gritty next step for fans of the likes of Arrow, but that might be selling it short. The drama should hit harder.

- First Images of Krysten Ritter as "AKA Jessica Jones" Appear as Filming Begins

Production has begun on Marvel's next Netflix series, "AKA Jessica Jones," and Newzcard has the first images from the set.

Though they don't capture anything too exciting, the pictures do provide a first look at star Krysten Ritter as the title character. Filming for the forthcoming series is currently underway in the Bronx neighborhood of New York City under the shooting title "Violet."

Krysten Ritter's great, but still seems miscast to me.

- Netflix's "Daredevil" Flashes A Stylish New Teaser

Netflix has debuted what it calls a Matt Murdock motion poster for "Marvel's Daredevil," but it plays more like an effective 12-second bumper for the upcoming series.

It's simple, with Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock putting on his signature sunglasses and straightening his tie with a devilish grin, but it certainly works.

- D'Onofrio is the Kingpin of 'Daredevil'

Come April, Netflix is introducing a big, bad bald dude that even House of Cards' Frank Underwood wouldn't want to mess with.

Vincent D'Onofrio stars as Wilson Fisk, a New York-born gangster whose methods of cleaning up his city differ greatly from the blind title vigilante of Marvel's Daredevil, in a 13-episode season due April 10.

This Fisk isn't quite the Kingpin of crime from Marvel Comics lore, in looks or demeanor. Yet executive producer Steven DeKnight says Daredevil is as much an origin story of a complex antagonist as it is a portrait of do-gooder lawyer Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and his masked secret identity.

The underworld won't even speak Fisk's name because of the power he holds, though at first glance he comes off as insecure, especially when he meets the comely art dealer Vanessa Marianna (Ayelet Zurer).

But when folks cross or disrespect him, the results often are very bloody.

"I just brought in this kind of character who in one sentence could easily go from being a child to a monster, depending on where his emotions take him," says D'Onofrio (Law & Order: Criminal Intent).

It’s time to let the devil out. Marvel’s Daredevil is here to clean up the streets of Hell’s Kitchen, New York. Lawyer by day, street-level hero by night, Matt Murdock is on a mission to make his city a better place against an underground terror within the city. Kinda looks like what you would expect a Netflix superhero show to look like.

- Netflix's "Daredevil" Announces Casting for Turk, Gladiator & More

Playing the characters familiar to longtime "Daredevil" readers are Rob Morgan ("Person of Interest," "Believe”) and Matt Gerald ("Avatar," "Dexter"). Morgan will take on the role of Turk Barrett, described as a "smalltime criminal" in Hell's Kitchen, while Gerald will play a machinist named Melvin Potter that gets "caught between a rock and a hard place."

Turk Barrett first appeared as a member of a street gang way back in 1970's "Daredevil" #69. From there, Barrett found semi-regular employment with Wilson Fisk -- the Kingpin -- and even made failed attempts to become the new Stilt-Man and Mauler. Melvin Potter is perhaps better known by the codename Gladiator and has ties that stretch back even further; he debuted in 1966's "Daredevil" #18. He was initially a costume designer with a hatred for costumed superheroes.

The four original characters added to the series are Peter Shinkoda ("Falling Skies," "Hawaii 5-0") as Nobu -- described as a "Japanese businessman with an agenda all his own" -- and Wai Ching Ho ("Law and Order: Special Victims Unit," "Blue Bloods") as Madame Gao, a "powerful woman running her own trade." Lastly, Nikolai Nikolaeff ("Camp," "Sea Patrol") and Gideon Emery ("Grimm," "How to Train Your Dragon 2") will play Russian brothers named Vladimir and Anatoly hoping to "forge new names for themselves in America."

Living in hope that any of that matters.

- SPOILER: Marvel Reveals "Daredevil's" Red Netflix Suit

With it's premiere only a day away, Marvel has published a teaser video revealing Matt Murdock's crime-fighting suit as featured in Netflix's "Daredevil." The suit has so far been left a mystery, with all early promotional stills and TV spots focusing on DD's makeshift all-black get-up. Just last night, however, an image of Daredevil's suit leaked online. Now it looks like Marvel has taken initiative to get ahead of the leak by releasing a teaser video featuring a hi-res look at Daredevil's red suit.

It's out on Netflix now! Woo!
