First of all, to just get this out of the way, in no way am I now, or ever, going to apologize for the recent rant and comments I made, nor am I looking for any apologies from anyone else. I won't apologize for something when I meant every single word of it, and all I hear of it is "typical TPB response", "how can we take you seriously?", and "how can I respond without being banned?".
Let's get something straight, I take this site and the way it's run seriously. Look at my rank. See that symbol? I'm a God rank on this site, that means that moderating is NOT my main job. That is why we have the moderators to do that job. But I still moderate, because it helps these guys and Crow out a lot. I don't see a need to have the options to do what moderators do when I don't have to use them, but guess what, I do.
I'm not the forum director, but I'm still above the Portal Guards, and I have as much responsibility for this site as Crow does, and when there's a problem involving how Portal Guards are moderating, when they have problems, it's just as much my deal to help take care of it. Crow and I don't agree on everything, but I do not care to let him be the only God on the site to have to worry about it.
That's why I'm so damn upset at what happened. When all these issues are being thrown around at once all of a sudden, it begs the question of why these issues weren't mentioned sooner? Yes, they get mentioned a lot sporatically, but I never hear any of it. I almost never get a contact of "why was this done", "can you fix this", anything. I'm here to help you people, I'm not getting anything to do it with.
I'm very much aware of our shortage of moderators, I have a couple people in mind that I'd like to have the job. I'm also aware that our dragon point system, our FAQ, are all worded and set up vaguely. And believe me, we fucking tried to find a standard for rating posts, but it's just not possible. Just what would you have to do exactly to get a number of points in a post? Same with the moderation, all our Portal Guards can't run like robots, and follow the exact same judgement when one person would take one action, and another would do something different, that's just how it is. And instead of just sitting there making side remarks in a thread, why not actually try to find an answer? We keep our shit recorded, we can tell you exactly who to go to. When problems with moderation have been sitting here for months suddenly come out of the blue in a mass amount from everyone, it's just stupid. It could have been something dealt with long ago. And that is why we ask for stuff like that to be brought to our attention. Otherwise, if we don't know about it from enough people, it doesn't get taken care of.
And you want to know how you can do this without being banned? Since when in God's name could that happen for trying to give feedback to the site? The only way you could possibly be banned for it is by going on a cursing spree, flaming all over the place about it, in post or PM. Everyone knows this, yet somehow people still think they can still be banned even if they're not pulling that kind of attitude. Bullshit. If you can't come to us because you're scared that we'll punish you for it, that is "chicken-shit mentality". Crow is sure as hell not going to let me ban someone for asking me why a thread was closed, someone was shadowed, ect. He just plain won't, and I don't intend to actually do that. Like I said, I've been moderating the way I have for 3 years now (collectively), and only two times, TWO TIMES, has anyone ever attempted to resolve it with me when they had a problem with what I did, and BOTH TIMES the issue was resolved, and there was no animosity between myself and the person I acted on. It seriously changes the way I try to moderate on this site, and if you have a problem with something I did, just talk to me about it. My door is open, and when I can get to it (time is not of my essence as of late), I will respond. I'm sick and tired of people acting like they're afraid to question us, I'm not afraid to answer the best way I can.
But again, if you don't want to help me out, then there's no way I can help you out. That is what this thread is for, you tell me exactly what you want done for the better of this site. I'm not going to sit around and wait another year for a mass consolidation to just spring forth. Any issues that you people feel are causing problems for this site, they need to be addressed now.

question, did ya ever get my pm i sent ya on ideas and possible solutions. crow responded to it. just wanted to know what ya thought
I think that there should be some type of information on the front page of this site telling everyone when the last 5 or 10 posts were made, who posted them, what forum they were posted in, and what thread they were posed in.
I also think that we should have some type of preview button at the bottom bar of the "Post Message" screen. I personally hate it when I post a picture in my post and find out later on the picture doesnt appear or has an error. If there was a preview button, we could see when our pictures work and when they dont work. It will also help other things besides pics but I cant think of any now.
One last small thing is that I wish I could delete ppl from my buddy list. (Not that I dont like them or anything), its just that some are never on.
As always this is the best MK web forum to be on. Gotta love MKO!

1.I'll like if you guys inform the the members next time when you going to upgrade the site, was it night before last night I came here and the site was being upgraded without me knowing?
2.Stop giving people dragonpoints for creating game threads whether or not if it took them a lifetime to create them, rewarding them for creating them will only result in more and more game threads.
3. I have people on my buddylist I no longer talk to, delete them for me please.
There's one thing I like about this site that I hate about all the sites on the net.
I don't have to block popups whenever I visit this site, good job there.

my only concern involves the pm system. its very monotonous. the only way to delete the message is to re enter the message, and there's no delete multiple message feature. and even a message you have already read stays as a new message on the screen.
its nothing big, but it just gets irritating and repetive, especially if you have a slow connection, or multiple message to read, reply to, and then delete. you know?

I agree with Siduu on the dragon points for the games. Dragon points are supposed to be for 'thought-provoking' threads/posts. A game is just a waste of time, really.

First off, good thread - it's about time we got a sticky like this...
2nd:
Both of these are old school
I agree that they should return, it was unfortunate little subtleties like these were lost in the switch from V6 to V7. Hopefully in time, they'll return like the other lost parts of MKO (Dragon Points, Auto-Rank changer, Search feature etc.)
3rd - Like I've been mentioning in "that" thread, I'd like to know some Mod / Staff opinions on the idea of activating the Sub-mod rank...Like advantages verses disadvantages, or just general comments.

I agree with the feature to view dragon point amounts. If they were tracked, that is. I've been here for a little more than, what, 4 years now, and I really want to know how much *or how little, more probably* I've, erm, accomplished as a mk5.orger/mko'er. It would just be nice, ya know?

I totally agree with her and oh yeah it would be good to have delete option at the buddy list like in the previous version and a "previous" button, because if I write something I'd like to see what I am going to post, this was also in the previous version............

The PM/IM system is actually about to be rewritten to be more like the old system, while still having the IM features. We'll let you all know as soon as we're ready to implement the new system.

Actually, both of these are in the works right now. It'll be a little bit before they're implemented, as the preview post functionality we'll be implementing is different than what was available in V5, and will require a bit of testing before we release it. So, no promises as to how soon they'll be available.

Normally we do announce before any site downtimes. However, the last downtime due to an upgrade wasn't planned very far in advance; we didn't know when we'd be ready for the upgrade until it was actually time to do so. Our apologies for that.
As I've said before, if you have a suggestion for a site feature or bugfix, send them in to feedback@mortalkombatonline.com. We do read the emails that come into that address, even if we don't respond. (FYI, the delete buddy feature work was prompted by an email to the feedback address.)

I was wondering if it's possible for you guys to delete all the messages I have in my inbox. Right now I have 71 and I really don't want to have to delete them all manually. That's why I wanted to be a warrior, since I heard you get something called jabber that lets you delete messages faster...
And I also agree with the post preview suggestion, the suggestion about being able to see how many Dragon Points we have, and the ability to delete buddies...

Well, that's not really the main point of Jabber... heh. Jabber just lets you use the site's PM system like an actual instant messaging system a la AIM, MSN, er al. That's how I handle all of my site PMs.
Like I said, though, the PM/IM system is being rewritten. I'll make sure with CCShadow that a mass delete function is added in to it.
Hope this helps...

I have an idea. A limit on the smilies. Is it just me, or is it really irritating seeing someone go "MK is the best" and post like 54 Rayden emoticons?

I agree...
But I don't really care about it that much...
EDIT: It's kind of hypnotic if you stare at it long enough...
There should be a update on Community FAQ
First of all an offensive language filter should be installed on the system that will reject certain posts that may contain certain words deemed offensive or used most often in an offensive way.
Censor Bypassing
The MKO message boards should be programmed with a list of words that are considered vulgar under any context, and these words are not allowed to be posted. Attempting to bypass the censor by misspelling, inserting spaces or symbols, transposing letters, using look-alike symbols, or any other method is not allowed. The only acceptable method of posting one of these vulgar words is to completely obscure it, making it impossible to determine what the word is without context. Additionally, certain words are prohibited from being used in topic titles and user information pages; bypassing the censor to post those words where they are restricted is also disallowed. For example, if "gris" is a banned word:
Not allowed: g-r-i-s, gr*s, g***, 9|-1$, girs, gryeeeas, grizznizz, **** (rhymes with "bris")
Allowed: ****, ****ed, ****ing, g'ed, g-word
Harassment/Stalking/Privacy
users who are being send pm's with nonsense talk from other users , should be able to block them.
And it would be nice if we could how many dragonpoints/skullpoint we have scored.
What ya say?
Ps I had wrote this in a wong thread and I have cut a lot of things because those are already in community faq.

I don't like that idea. It sounds like an infringement upon free speech. And I always feared that this site would turn all uptight and ban words like "fuck", "shit", "bitch", etc...
And who would decide which words are "vulgar under any context"?

We tried a language filter in V5, but it was busted and caused too many problems. People who used "class", "glass", ect, found their posts having "cl***", "gl***", ect because "ass" got filtered within the words. So it was removed completely. And I don't like the idea of bringing it back.
And thanks to all who've given input, but seriously, this can't be it. I know a lot of you have something on the mind, so say it.

Well personally I would love to get a Hotaru avatar installed in the choices...
If you need a picture of some Hotaru pics I could send them to you...
