some movies don't need to be remade, others are bad and some are ok to good. there are even some movies were you want to see another installment in which case you wouldn't mind a remake/reboot.
here are a few movies i wouldn't mind seeing a reboot of.
spawn - with todays cgi and gore effects this could be a instant classic.
jurassic park - since theres most likly will not be anoter installment i wouldn't mind seeing a reboot of some sort.
fantastic 4 - the 1st movie was ok and the 2nd one was a joke. silver surfer was the only thing that saved the film from being just plain bad. like to see the reboot. maybe something similar to the new spiderman film that is coming out.
transformers - the movies got worse with each sequel. to many robots and not enough action. really like to see a reboot of transformers with the transformers turing into beasts. aka transformers beast wars.
childs play - with all the horror movies lately being remade and since child's play being the 1st r movie i ever saw at the age of 2. this film needs a remake. let the voice of chucky remain as brad dourif though.
what movies would you like to see as a remake or reboot.

Seriously Hollywood stop making remakes/reboots/reimaginings/adaptations or whatever else already. Can we please get some original ideas?

Hollywood ran out of original ideas a long time ago. Remakes and all that stuff aren't so bad.

Most remakes can't live up to the original. Remaking movies is a waste of time and money.

Seeing as how most fans of the original will go see the remake....... Thus making the people creating the film money..... I don't see exactly how it is a waste, Even if the movie itself sucks. They aim to make money with movies and they do with remakes no matter how horrible they are.

Same person! He was good in MK Legacy as Jax. I think he can pull off Spawn again.
I'd like to see Candyman remade personally. When I was a kid, that movie scared me shitless.
Also, AVATAR: The Last Airbender. Please oh please remake that without Shaylamangadon. Ah the current movie pissed off my life so much.

I so agree with what a lot of other people are saying, remake Spawn.
Spawn could be an amazing movie using modern effects. If the director doesn't hold back and goes straight for the R rating, it would definitely be better than the original film. I also agree that the actor who played him did a pretty good job of it too. Just need to reboot and refine the film, and with the right director and cgi, it would definitely work.

Well, I'm gonna say it...
Super Mario Bros. The Movie...
I'll give you a moment to cool down...
Okay, now the Mario movie sucked. It REALLY sucked. It pretty much set the standard for every crappy videogame based movie from that point on with an exception here or there. So why on earth would anyone want someone to make another attempt?
Well, look. You can't make it worse than the first one unless you hire the geniuses behinds such masterpieces as Epic Movie, Disaster Movie, and Meet the Spartans.
And now we have the chance to really introduce real people into a mystical world and make it awesome. We can be introduced to an awesome new world. Just look at avatar, think like that, only applied to the things from Mario. How epic would it look if they can flawlessly blend some real actors (Mario, Luigi,Peach, ect.) with a bizarre fantasy world with all sorts of weird creatures and creepy enemies? How cool would it be to witness Mario and Bowser do an epic battle? What would Yoshi look like?
With the special effects and a decent story they can give the Mario series the movie that it has deserved for so many years. It could be the next Avatar! Hollywood has got to make up for the last attempt. Do it over, do it right!

Although I believe one out every 200 remakes is actually justifiable, one film that I do believe needs updating is "Phantasm." The original gave a lot of innovations to the horror genre and it is what I'd call a case study in atmospheric horror.
... but the movie itself is awkward as all hell. The acting in the dialogue were very weak, and the overall pacing is very poor. I'm not saying re-imagine it. The film's concept is fine. Just "fix" it.
As for sequels, I think a new "Spinal Tap" needs to be made. They could do a lot of cool stuff with a reunion premise, and those guys aren't getting any younger.

They only go out of curiosity. An example would be A Nightmare On Elm Street (2010). The movie was garbage. I liked the guy who played Freddy. But the movie tanked. We need more original ideas instead of rehashing old movies and ruining them.

THE most influential science fiction film of all time.
And I bet nearly nobody has seen it.
I'd like it remade just so people would be aware or curious about the original film and discover how ground-breaking it was... and with today's technology, a remake of the most ambitious black & white silent film of all time could be monumentally impressive as well.

A waste in profits no, but it is a waste of screen space and artistic potential. We have one guy who could have an idea that could lead to the next great trilogy, a story better than what we have seen in the last 5 years....and it gets knocked out of the running by a shitty horror movie remake or sequel. Branch out a bit and watch some of those indie/cult films you never hear about. Some of them are amazing, and with more financial backing they could have been incredible. Instead, we get shitty films like Saw eleventy five or the Human Centipede. Sure, remaking films is a foolproof way of making quick cash, but where does that leave the remaining visionaries we have? It's bullshit.
Granted, there are some remakes that were rather successful, but I think it's because the crew actually gave two fucks about their work.

Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat; Annihilation.
I actually have an idea for a remake: The Fast and the Furious! It would feature cars from the 1900s such as the 1905 curved dash oldsmobile, 1904 Cadillac, the 1903 Ford A Runabout, the 1901 Albion and the 1902 Wolseley. Starring Jim Carrey as Dominic Toretto and Jack Nicholson as Brian O'Conner!
