I stand by my previous "Phoenix; bleh" comment.

Phoenix's healing sphere looks pretty ballin' but I can't see any need to use her PMS mode.

I'm not really feeling the resurrection BS at all.

Yeah, and even though I heard she doesn't have to be KO'd to activate it, what are you really going to do with it? Save five meters so you can gradually use up your health while trying to do as much damage as possible before you die? It's a nice touch I suppose, but that's about it.

Now that everyone has had a good amount of time to celebrate, I can now come out and say that Haggar was a horrible choice. A complete three-strike character. I'm not upset because I saw this coming months away, but it still sucks.

His design is balls. His story is flatter than a mathematical two-dimensional intersecting plane, and on top of that, his design is balls. Did I mention his design is balls? The only reason people have been begging for Haggar is because of some unconscious desire to complete the Final Fight editions. It's the same damn thing with Poison, which would be the only character dumber than Haggar. If we had to have a grappler, why not give SFIII some representation, or create a whole knew character.

I'm not wild about Phoenix, but at least Phoenix is artistically pleasing, and from the looks of it, has more to offer to the game (though I'm not sure how I feel about the resurrection thing). Gameplay-wise, I'm just not interested in a grappler in a Capcom crossover environment, especially when HIS DESIGN IS BALLS!

I really can't be mad at Capcom anyway. This is purely fan service that people have been requesting for just about forever.

Meh. Design-wise he's no less lame than all the other over-fetishized characters people have been crying for. In my opinion, the only reason any character is shit is if the devs make it so (which they have). I mean, invincible lariat is a good start and all, but I don't know how he's gonna make those throws count.

Dude is Thor status at the moment which is pretty disappointing.

Problem is that Thor is a few tweaks away from being high tier since he has dem beams and dem airdash, along with high damage normals. Hagger, on the other hand, needs a complete overhaul. He definitely needs to be an snk type grappler, with a buttload of invincibility moves or super armor that can absorb more than 1 hit. lol, I mean his damage was ludicrously low from what I've seen in the vids.

Thor has an airdash? I did not know that. I heard awesome things about his power dunk move, though. But yeah, he's better equipped than Hagger is.

iirc, it was just a simple back and forth airdash. Slow as hell. Though I'm hoping I'm wrong and it is an 8-way airdash.

I gotta say, I actually really like phoenix's move set! She seems, from what I gather, a bit of a hybrid between Storm and Psylocke... she'll probably be fairly complex, like Spiral though, so im actually excited about her.
The one thing I dont like is how fiery she is. Granted... she is phoenix lol, but I wish some of her moves where purely psychic, with different effects... Especially w Dormammu, C Viper and Super Skrull... lots of fiahhhh... lots of fiahhh...

at least with lightning they made some yellow and some blue... I really wish my troll comment about multicolored flames was true...

Nah, I disagree with maybe the one exception being Arthur, but Arthur has earned his place in the gaming world in a way Haggar hasn't. The problem is that he's a giant shirtless man with a mustache. There's not a lot of ways to make that look good. I'll admit he has this "Tom Celic, lol" aura about him, and there is something charming about that, but I still would have rather had another character.

Don't get me wrong, though. By himself, I don't hate Haggar. He's the mayor, and more importantly, he's the Nerf King. I grew up with Final Fight. I played the shit out of the game on the SNES. I just don't want him in my crossover games. I will say this, though: better HERE than in SSF4. That game needs another grappler like it needs Evil Ry... oh fuck me.

On that subject, does anybody know if THE one true voice of Wolverine, Cathal Dodd, is back to voice the character? I've gone all this time and I never really paid attention or heard about it.

That also being said, I'm still horribly "meh" about Haggar and Jean Grey. So many fantastic non-X-men characters they could use and yet we get three X-women so far. I would have gladly traded X-23 for Elektra and Jean Grey for the Scarlet Witch or Ms. Marvel.

The more I see from this game the less excited I get. The character choices are bad (X23, Akuma, Trish, Viper, She Hulk), the voice acting is GOD AWFUL (Deadpool, Captain America, MANY MANY others) with notable exceptions (Zero, Viper), and their costume choices are just flat out bad. I mean, go find me someone who would HONESTLY rather play as Big Time Spidey or Civil War Spidey rather than Scarlet Spider, or someone who wouldn't want a War Machine color over the done-to-death all blue "Stealth" Iron Man. Aesthetics aside, I hate how they're making the game more balanced by making the characters "equally broken". And simple mode, as Seth Killian said, was something that ended badly in SFA, and it's gonna end up the same way in MvC3, it's a button mashers paradise, so now all the annoying kids who hit the same buttons over and over and expect soemthing to happen will get their wish. So yeah, long story short, I'll probably wait til the price drops on this one

Except it's not like that at all and they've specifically disclosed info that shows that easy mode will be even more neutered than it was MvC2.

Scarlet Spider!?!? Really? Talk about a 90's character! They should also get Adam X and Thunderstrike!

And War Machine I bet they are saving for a DLC.

Actually, it'd be really cool if they could add DLC skins for characters to make it into others... maybe even change the look of the moves, so for example X-23 could be made into Elektra or Psylocke, Jean could be made into Rachel or Phoenix Emma, She-Hulk could pretty much be every other super strong woman in the marvel U, Zero could b Megaman, Trish could b Gloria, etc. etc.

Actually, Scarlet Spider has a TON of hardcore fans. Myself included. Scarlet Spider is possibly tied with Spider-man 2099 as the most popular "other" Spider-man, and as a costume is possibly the third-favorite outfit, behind the classic and black costumes.

It is an interesting idea to have "variant" costumes of different heroes. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance did that plenty, with no less than three or four different women as costumes for Spider-woman, and many others such as Ghost Rider, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Thor, and others.

Scarlet Spider wouldn't be that different from Spider-man, nor would Elektra or Psylocke play much differently than X-23.
