Again, I think you should rent both, then decide for yourself which one to buy. Not taking anything away from the people who have been responding to this thread, but it's easier to go with what you want then to listen to other's opinions. Buy the system that is right for you. You said that you aren't likely to play online, well, both systems are equally as good single-player. Hell, not everyone likes online play. I've pondered it, but decided not to bother, waste of money for me personally. Like I said, rent both, then pick the system you like best.

personally i got the xbox,gamecube,n64,dreamcast,playstation,gennises,
saturn and my pc and i trait out the playstaion 2 bud i found it really nothing and it would be reall waste of my money if i would had buyed it
luckely i onlly had rented the pease of crap.

Tekken 5 is coming out for the Box I think?

Anyways if you want something that won't break and has Halo (one of the best games, and looks better than the PC version), Fable (going to be one of the best games), and Doom 3 (which looks almost exactly the same as the PC). Then buy the Xbox, it's fun and it's cheap, and quality.

Your gonna wanna go with a PS2 if you want fighting games. Midway is ceasing to make games for Nintendo for some reason and they're thinking about it for microsoft but they probably won't close any ties with them. That would be a dumb idea.

I know Midway stopped MK for GC because it just didn't sell. A lot of games don't sell on GC, that's why it's losing so much third-party support, but I've never heard as much about the Xbox.

Oh well, though there are definitely some XBOX lovers around (which is a good thing for the console, if it were crap nobody would like it) from the looks of it most of its games I can play on the PC which is something I can't do with PS2's fighters...
