Ok, well my interest of late as far as Marvel has been with Spider-Man and learning more and more stuff in the series is interesting to me.
However, I've read a little bit concerning these "symbiotes" and from what I've read Venom started it all more or less on google and such.
Since there's a lot of hardcore marvel fans on here that know everything about Marvel, I'd like to know how many there are, what their names are and if they're bad or good.
I read there's one good one at least named Pat Mulligan aka Toxin but there are more aren't there?
Anyway, lets see which marvel or comic buff here can tell me and give me the best explanation concerning EVERYTHING on every single symbiote.
Do tell.I'm all ears.
P.S. feel free to post pics also.

uhhh in spider-man there is three
Venom whos spring is
Carnage whos spring is
Toxin who is stronger than both of them and is the "1000th" symbiote so hes like the best and stuff.
jus go to wiki and start with venom and then carnage youll get everything probably.
Also there was bunch of combination of symbiotes... like ultimate venom, spider-carnage and so on.

Um..
Here, I could help.
Eddie Brock and the alien symbiote are now held at very distant locations from one another. His five spawns created by the Life Foundation (Scream, Lasher, Riot, Agony, and Phage) show up and bust Eddie out, because they still want him to teach them how to control their symbiotes. They also take his doctor, Mr. Ellis hostage. The Venom symbiote also breaks free and escapes. It travels from host to host trying to find Eddie and rebond with him. Meanwhile, Eddia and Ellis escape, and as the other five symbiotes try to find him, someone stabs and kills Agony. The others believe the murderer is Brock and intend to find and kill him.
Phage eventually finds Eddie and gets stabbed from behind. The others are about to pounce on Eddie, but then its revealed that Scream is actually the murderer, having used a sonic knife to pierce the symbiotes and kill the hosts. If that doesn't help check out these

btw, if your interested in reading any comics pertaining to Venom, I suggest that you read Ultimate SpiderMan #33-#39 (the Ultimate Venom story arc).
Ultimate Spiderman is a modernized re-imagining of the Spider-Man comic book franchise and it's set outside of the Marvel Universe continuity. If you're interesting in checking any Spider-Man comics, I suggest that you first check this series out. Anybody can read and enjoy it, even ppl unfarmiliar with marvel comics.

Yeah, thanks guys and Khanswarrior I'm ok how about you man? Thanks for the info.
To Ulcatron thanks for that link and to everyone else kingjolly for the explanations.
Yeah, last night I read a story on Marvel site that at one point Venom and Carnage sided together because Spider-Man had an alliance with Toxin.I found that interesting and yeah you're right.Toxin beat the hell out of Venom and Carnage.Apparently he's a lot stronger which I found interesting.
There was also some more like a character named Hybrid, a tall black dude. All I remember and something about combined ones so I found that interesting.
I'm also curious to see if there are any good symbiotes/humans in the Marvel universe besides just Toxin.Venom seems to be more bad then good, sometimes he thinks he's doing good lol.Something I read on him.

Originally the 5 Life Foundation symbiotes were evil, but after Scream killed the other four the remains of those 4 symbiotes joined together to create Hybrid, who for some reason is a good guy despite what the four symbiotes used to be individually.

Ohhh, yes I just checked on that 5 life thing on google.Yeah, that's what I read more or less.
I knew there was like more then 3 that's what confused me because a lot said there's only three with Venom, Carnage and Toxin but knew there were more after reading some more info on these things.
I also read something about it trying to get on SS, and Galactus or something. Then they hated SS and wanted to kill him for destroying their planet or something like this.I thought that was interesting.
Makes ya wonder how Superman or Silver Surfer would react if they consumed them. With Supes, I guess Red Kryptonite is equivalent kind of...
Thanks for the info though.

I have the comic where Silver Surfer gets bonded to the Carnage symbiote and becomes the "Cosmic Carnage". He doesn't kill anybody or anything, but he looks messed up. Only happens, like, one issue, but, still, was pretty cool.

Ohh cool, sounds interesting man.
You're a big comic buff too right Garlador?

A symbiote consuming the silversurfer sounds alright even though his powers dont really need enhancing.

I have my own question about the marvel universe. In x-men #97...I think. some villian shows up whos name is "Eric the Red". and Cyclops says that HE was Eric the Red.
the only futher info the comics gives on this is a simple foot note that says to see X-men #'s 51 and 52 , but I don't have those issues so...could anyone fill me in on when Cyclops betrayed the X-men?

Also, symbiotes main weaknesses are fire and sonic booms, waves, noise. Each generation varies on how well they can withstand these, venom was more durable than carnage to sound waves i believe, while weaker to fire. I dont know much about toxin, but venom can lift much more than spiderman, and carnage can lift more than them both put together i have read. Carnage can shapeshift his hands into weapons as well. Some background info on their powers.

About the host for Hybrid, if I'm not mistaken, he discovered that the symbiotes were not inherently evil. I think it was more of a matter of them simply enhancing dark qualities of someone's persona.

Well while the known symbiotes are Hybrid,Scream,Venom,Carnage, and Toxin there are in fact 1000 natural symbotes total. They all came from this planet bu that was destroyed by Galactus. There is a Mighty Avengers storyline coming up where the mighty avengers fight the entire planet of the symbiotes!
There are a lot of symbiotes and even more "variants", such as the Venom in the Spider-Girl universe, which is Norman Osborn's grandson and, surprisingly, a good guy, even with the symbiote (he was also the Green Goblin before.) Several "What-If" issues have also dealt with the symbiote merging with The Punisher and Wolverine to rather violent effect, and it even consuming Peter Parker entirely, making him known as "Poison". There was also "She-Venom", who was Eddie Brock's ex-wife (and I liked her), but she didn't last long. Venom, himself, has existed as three seperate people (with The Scorpion being his current host),
If you want to see the Silver Surfer Carnage version, here's a blurry scan:

Isn't that only in the cartoon? I'm pretty sure in the comics it was Ben Reily who bonded with Carnage.

The animated series is a very loose adaptation of the comics. There are numerous differences. Samecase with other animated series such as Batman the animated series, Superman the animated series, Justice league, X-men, X-men evolution...etc...

To FLSTYLE, on google I found someone named Cletus Kassady was Carnage. So, how many were there?

To MKFLegend: To my knowledge, there are or have been two Carnages. If you're familiar with the symbiote timeline, then you'll know that Carnage is the spawn of Venom who seperated from him during a jailbreak (I think it was the same one in which the Life Foundation Symbiotes captured Eddie Brock and yadda yadda yadda...). Carnage found Cletus Cassidy as his host and formed a more powerful symbiote. However, I hear that Venom was eventually able to consume Carnage back into his body and thusly eliminated him. Then I heard that there was something like another Carnage coming from Marvel's Negative Zone (In Marvel, it's the universe that existed before the current one. It still exists today but as our universe expands as a result of the Big Bang, it gets smaller.). However, with this Toxin storyline, I'm not sure what the standing with Carnage is.
As for Venom's evil nature, the black symbiote had evil intentions but Eddie Brock was a devout Christian. The symbiote's sinister nature was balanced out by Brock's own inherit good and made their combination into a Punisher-esque hero. As for why they hate Spider-Man, Eddie Brock was a reporter for a newspaper. He thought he cracked a big mystery but Spider-Man later proved his information to be wrong and inadvertantly got Brock fired and unable to find a job. Meanwhile, Spidey forced the black symbiote off of his body when he discovered it was corrupting him. The symbiote was angry at Peter Parker and Brock was mad at Spider-Man. When they combined, they made their goal pretty much exacting their revenge on him.

There have been 3 Venoms, as well as a few "what if" storylines like what if the symbiote took full control of Spiderman.
