I'm loving TNA in the last few weeks. FINALLY they are back to focusing on good in-ring action and not the WWE "sports entertainment" lite bullshit.

Which is why it's so disheartening that they might be going under. It's like it's too little, too late. Fucking Dixie Carter, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff. furious

Yeaaahhh...I kinda doubt we'll be seeing an official DVD have a segment about whether or not the old man porked Stephanie while she was still underage.

The times I've heard the subject broached by people adjacent to the situation, they've had no explanation for the rumor and agreed that the inconsistency is the fact that Savage hasn't been ignored, written out of history, or even treated with hostility. Descending wisdom is that it isn't anything nearly as heinous or criminal as salacious rumors would suggest.

So the intrigue will be -- presumably -- finally having the record finally set straight. Or at least as straight as a WWE DVD and people's belief will allow. [I'm probably inclined to believe the theory that it was just tension stemming from business and the personalities involved.]

- Breaking News: WWE Releases Alberto del Rio Due to Unprofessional Conduct

WWE has just released the following statement:

WWE announced the release of Alberto Del Rio due to unprofessional conduct and an altercation with an employee.

- The Very Latest Backstage Details on Del Rio’s WWE Release, Which Promotions Are Interested in Him?, More

Following Del Rio’s WWE release, F4WOnline.com is reporting both TNA and AAA in Mexico are interested in Del Rio.

Del Rio likely has a 90 day no compete clause in his WWE contract, which would apply to both TNA and AAA, as TNA is currently on TV and AAA recently landed a TV deal on the El Rey Network.

- WWE News: More details on Alberto Del Rio firing

The story going around is that he slapped a a Social Media manager, at this week's television, but there are a variety of different stories going around regarding what led to this.

Based on sketchy stories and what wrestlers have been talking about, at catering, somebody asked the person to clean off his plate. The person joked something along the lines of how that's Del Rio's job. Del Rio found out and confronted him. As the story goes, he didn't apologize and then smiled at him, and Del Rio slapped him.

Pretty disappointing. Always liked Del Rio, felt they could've been getting a lot more out of him. If there's truth to the Wrestling Observer rumor, it's hard to see the situation as any more than a fine or brief suspension. With all the budget cuts going on, really sounds like a convenient opportunity to cut a larger contract. A guy who they've clearly gone cold on and has made it known he doesn't plan to stick around. Lousy way to finish.

I respectfully disagree. One of the last decent heels that actually relished the role instead of trying to walk the line and be cool. Solid worker that kinda lost purpose after the World Heavyweight Championship got unified.

Stupid way to end his run. But, with AAA's TV deal on the horizon, it could turn out well for him. He's not gonna make the same money, but he could do well.

no if only wwe would fire or release fandango, bo dallas, adam id be very happy. then again I hate most of wwe's pg roster/talent/content.

I still only really watch wwe for kofi, truth, jericho, rvd, sin cara, mysterio.

also seeing Dixie getting slammed through a table was priceless. almost put a tear to my eye seeing her body almost be broken in half by bubba.

He was great in the ring. He cut bad promos, but that's mostly because English isn't his first language. Its a shame he never got over imo

If that story is genuine (The whole slapping a racist guy) then its a pretty shitty way for him to go. But he had lost everything that made him special. The Cars, Ricardo... etc.

Never really connected with the fans I feel.

Shitty way for him to go - wont miss him.

I'd go out on a limb and say if you didn't see Del RIo's run on Smackdown (particularly in the throes of the final split years), you probably didn't see the best of him. The bar being significantly lower in WWE than previous eras is a factor, but he was still a pretty solid all around talent.

His stock character had enough individual ticks to make it memorable and enjoyable in a period where characters have been scarce. [Comparisons to JBL need not apply]. He was always a solid in-ring hand and gave himself quality boosts with conceited additions at different points: more suplexes, some lucha splashes rounded out his game.

His language wasn't the best, but when he was engaged in more pointed feuds, even his promos were actually pretty decent by today's standard. I still quote his "little girrllll" from time to time. Feuds with Edge, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Big Show were on par with PG era equivalents. I might be leaving something out.

He had more in him than he gave and was clearly being wasted at the end.
He was a WWE Champion, World Heavyweight Champion, Royal Rumble winner (and MITB winner). A clear example of self-defeating booking trends. Even without pushing him to the moon - giving those accolades weight and taking the chains off the matches really could've given them a valuable extra hand. Especially with the drop-off of stars we're experiencing on limp cards in 2014. Someone to focus competitive matches around with fresh pairings.

- Alberto Del Rio Breaks His Silence Since His WWE Release, Announces His Next Pro Wrestling Move (Video)

The following is a translation of what Del Rio says in the video:

“Hello aficionados of Mexico and AAA, the boss is back. What better place to call my home than AAA. Thanks for all the supporters and you guys know there is quality wherever the boss is, and there is quality in AAA. There is no better place to go. See you soon and God bless you.”

The boss... of destinyyyyy.

- Paul Heyman’s Rap Lyrics, WWE Creative Team Member Let Go, Rey Mysterio Leaving WWE For AAA?

According to a new interview with former WWE Spanish commentator Hugo Savinovich, Rey Mysterio leaving WWE for AAA in Mexico will happen.

He said Rey is looking to work out his contract issues with WWE before he can return to wrestling in Mexico.

- Cena's a polarizing figure because of WWE's failure to build around him

Polarizing - To divide into sharply opposing factions.

It is said that WWE Superstar and reigning WWE World Champion John Cena is the most polarizing pro wrestler ... ever. One would have a hard time disputing this description based purely on what is heard when Cena appears on one of the WWE's television broadcasts such as "Monday Night RAW." The opposing chants of "Let's go Cena!" and "Cena Sucks!" resonate loudly and passionately throughout every arena in which the future Hall of Famer performs.

Why is it the man who has stood for right and has fought and defeated every "villain" in WWE for the past decade has so many detractors?

Excellent discussion piece by Jim Ross on FOX Sports. I don't think he's telling informed diehard fans anything they don't already know -- and may even be drawing a couple of conclusions that are up for debate -- but it's a great commentary, all the same.

Personally, I'm in the negative column for Cena and pretty much have been since he started coming through. The rap gimmick had its place and I could see some of the appeal at a mid-card feature level, but once he got bumped prematurely into a title feud with Brock Lesnar - they lost me. His subsequent permanent elevation to the top level ensured I would never warm to Cena (or others) as he failed to develop the skills and attributes that cemented the stars he supplanted. Heading into this weekend's Summerslam, that remains true, in spite of his success as a company lynchpin and an obviously good natured guy, otherwise.

On the 2nd disc my 2 favorite matches were

Rey Mysterio/ Batista vs. MNM WWE Tag Team Championship Match Smackdown December 16th, 2005.

Rey Mysterio vs. Finlay Stretcher Match Cyber Sunday October 27th, 2007.

On disc 3 my 2 favorite matches are

Rey Mysterio vs. Shawn Michaels Smackdown January 29,2010.

Rey Mysterio vs. Dolph Ziggler Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match Smackdown February 5,2010.

Kind of wished for more ECW/WCW matches but overall it was really good dvd set. It was better then 619 dvd but not as good as Biggest Little Man.

I'm trying to decide which dvd I should get next after I get Summerslam 2014 that comes out in few months. It's off these choices WWE Ladder Matches 2, Money IN The Bank Anthology, WWE Greatest High Flyers, ECW Unreleased Vol. 1 and 2, Extreme Rules 2009 - 2014, My Name is Paul Hayman, TNA Hardcore Justice 2010, Raven Nevermore. Hard decisions.

It just blows my mind, in a business that demands evolution to stay relevant, John Cena absolutely refuses to evolve. Same cheesy promos...check. Same brightly colored, billboard like merch...check. Five moves of doom...what's that? You say he's added a half assed franken-steiner to his moveset? Welp, I suppose I stand corrected on that point.

All that, and then they wonder why he's booed. Shit man, even Sting turned heel.

At the end of the day, as horrible as Cena is, he's not to blame. WWE has allowed the man to do the same thing for over a decade, all the while, mismanaging every other piece of talent that could have been in line to take his spot.

I don't miss the attitude era because of its in your face, gritty, hardcore...attitude. I miss the attitude era because, at the drop of a dime, there were 5-10 guys that were ready and able to step up and be champion. There was always a threat. These days, it's not even a matter of if, but when will Cena step up and take the title again.

If this were 30 years ago and the wwe ran 15 shows a month, with maybe one or two show being televised, Cena would be a damned legend. But with no fewer than 3 shows a week, all recapping every 10 minutes and telling us how Cena is an unstoppable superman who "always finds a way to win", even fucking Batman would wind up looking like The Joker.

It is more of a problem that the moment Cena is allowed to go against his babyface style and act as a villain, that moment would undermine the merch behind him bought by the 10-15 year olds.

And I do not think he could pull off a Hollywood Hogan - not because he could not be a heel- but because people would not buy it.

Now with the Undertaker gone basically it is curtain call for character driven shows, none of the people in the ring now have any real acting chops.

LOL like the Undertaker wasn't one of the shittiest actors in the biz. If by "acting chops" you mean "gimmick", you have Bray Wyatt for that.

Also, Brock vs Cena was awesome, loved seeing Brock dominate and become champion.
