For all the football (soccer) fans out there or any other hardcore gamer looking for the most realistic videogame ever, you need to get your hands on Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (PAL) or Winning Eleven 8 (NTSC) dont play FIFA games its just a waste of time, try this series out and you wont look back. due release date october for PAL consoles but not sure when realese date of NTSC console version. Be on the lookout.
I already knew this as well. I have been following the Pro Evolution Soccer/ Winning Eleven series for quite a while now. It is the most realistic soccer game out there, but it does not have the Rayados del Monterrey that I like (which is in FIFA). It is extremely entertaining though.
Peace.
Peace.

Hmmm I've owned/own every Fifa bar '95, but I'm always hearing about how good the Winning Eleven series is. I may just have to buy WE8 this year...

Excluding graphics and complete player/team licenses, FIFA is pwned by WE on every other level. Pwned hardcore.
As for the NTSC release date, so far the only one I've seen is 12/31/2004.

I have a question, and I mean this in no way to insult anyone: but, what is the appeal of soccer? Why does nearly every country love the shit outta this sport?
A game was on today, on Univision, and I watched some of it, meh. Not very entertaining if you ask me.
And before you get pissed, 'stupid football watching american blah blah blah teh football sucks', I do not like American football at all either. It sucks. I love Poker though.

Yeah, some. I like Poker, which is a sport because it is competitive , and non-intellectual based. I mean if Golf is considered a sport, why not Poker?
I also like Bowling. Playing basketball is fun, but you couldn't get me to watch the NBA, not even with a bottle of ether and duct tape.
The only sports I enjoy watching really are Poker and Boxing. I always watch the World Series in Baseball, but besides that, I do not watch it.

It's like 'kick the can' for grown ups! :D
j/k Some matches are fun to watch, a lot are kinda dull. The only soccer game I liked was Megaman Soccer for the Snes.

How sure are you about that? The Japanese version only had the Spanish, Italian and Dutch leagues, and this fact was also discussed in another (sorta recent) thread.
As for why soccer is so popular...it's because I like it and everybody wants to be like me.
Simple as that.

Is it me or does it seem like a lot of Asians have a fetish for white people. I saw a lot of Euro Soccer matchups and there are just hoards of Asian fans supporting a Euro team...

It's you. All types of people like all types of teams. I'm pretty sure you'll find a Real Madrid or Barcelona or Brazil or France fan in any part of the world, simply because they're a fan of the sport and like rooting for a superior team.
I may be from Honduras, but Argentina's national team is my second favorite.

Then I'll watch hockey cames where a Canadian team is the home team and sure enough there are Asians there probably dont even know what the fuck they are cheering for...just how I feel lol.

Well having been born and raised in England then moving here, I can view it from both sides.
The main reason soccer is so popular everywhere else except North America (by the way soccer has THE MOST registered participants of any sport up to the age of 19 in both the US and Canada...) is that everyhwere else it is a religion.
You are born and from that day on you live and die for two teams, your club (the city team, usualy the one your Dad and family members support) and your country (go figure). Soccer brings out so many emotions, it is insanely skillful, fluent, no wonder it's called 'the beautiful game'.
People say 'its boring', and living here for 7 years I understand their mentality. People here want action all the time, non stop (which reflects in their lives, so much needless rush)
Soccer is relatively low scoring compared to other sports, but that is what makes it soooo amazing. You are so much more appreciative of a goal when it is scored because of the hell your team went through to get it. Do u know how agonizing it is when your team hits the post ir bar in the last minutes of a game they're losing that they need to win? It's insane. Then the opposite, when your team needs desperately to score, and they get a goal in the last minute to win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The buildup, near misses, passion involved - sorry but soccer just tops every other sport in the world. That's why everyone loves it, why the World Cup is the most watched sporting event on Earth, why all kids play it. And honestly, the skill used to manipulate a ball with your feet, not hands, FEET! Damn, that's why I love it...
Edit - and if anyone says soccer isn't the best sport, ok that's cool cus it's your opinion, but I can fill page upon page of reasons why your wrong...

WOW. Well said man. I definitely understand it's appeal much much better now.
I suppose the passion is why they have so many soccer riots...
I suppose if every city here had a club and everything, I might be into it, but it's where you are raised I guess. I mean, Football is popular, but 99% of cities do not have teams, the NFL consists of only 30 something teams I think.
Of course, every high school has a team, and people get into it, but if it's just a 'school thing', I guess it is different. As much as people like football, I do not think Football fans are anywhere near as hardcore as soccer fans seem to be.
Like you said, we are in more of a 'rush', which probably also accounts for why in other areas of the world the entertainment is less violent, high-octane type stuff. Look at a lot of the Hollywood films, and how quickly they move, how big and violent they are. Not near enough small production, story driven films.
Also, I do not want to offend other Americans, but we are big and fat. lol. Most other areas of the world, the majority of people are normal-sized, and really, you have to be normal or skinny to play soccer, it has some HARD running. Where as Football appeals to America perfectly, it's fast-paced(well during the plays anyway), its violent, and its really mainly for big ass motherfuckers lol.

Thanks, u responded well too, I'm glad u understand the perspective of most hardcore soccer fans a bit more now.
You also reminded me of something when u mentioned how passionate fans riot. Soccer has local rivalry, and I'm not talking about NJ Nets vs NY Knicks. I mean fans fight to the DEATH over the outcomes of these matche. A fan in England in the 70's was tied to a train track and decepitated when he got into a fight with the other teams fans after his team beat their's. It's not just petty jokes and pranks, it is usualy full out war. Speaking of which an actual WAR was started in the 70's in Central America (cant remember which national teams) due to the outcome of a World Cup Qualifier, crazy eh?
The fans just go to the extreme over their teams. It is also an excuse to vent their anger about their crappy lives. Sorry, I dont mean to offend anyone, but its fact. The fans of soccer in the poorer nations release their anger about their lives over soccer games, its an easy outlet. Thats why they fight opposite sets of fans.
Football/baseball/basketball/hockey doesnt have that local rivalry. Its hard to build across a country the size of the US. But when your local rivals' of 100+ years stadium is practicaly next to your teams stadium, the hatred builds. If your team loses to the rivals, u get ridculed at school, work wherever.
If you have any Q's about soccer, Im always happy to answer

I can relate to the whole rivalry issue quite well.
Being a Manchester United supporter who lives in Manchester it's in my blood to hate anyone or anything that so much breathes Liverpool, Manchester City or Bolton Wanderers.
Which includes my traitorous brother and sister, how can you change from Manchester United to Bolton and not hate yourself

I really don't like Soccer, but it's cool when those 'Hooligans' go nuts and there is mob fights. Usually the ones I've seen have ended up with the cops gettin thier ass's kicked by the mobs. haha

Just ask Figo!
Here some of the other greatest soccer rivalries;
Rangers vs Celtic
Boca Juniors vs River Plate
Liverpool vs Everton
Lazio vs Roma
Arsenal vs Tottenham
The Strongest vs Bolivar (crazy Bolivian derby, not the best skill, but ridiculously heated games...)
