Report: PlayStation 4 Will Stream Games
“The new technology... will allow users to play games delivered over the Internet...”

Not surprisingly, the PlayStation 4 rumors have been flowing as of late. With the expected reveal of the console coming this Wednesday, February 20 in New York City, it only makes sense that little bits of information would begin to emerge about what we’ll be seeing.

The newest rumor is in regard to the next PlayStation’s ability to stream games. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that “Sony Corp. is planning to offer technology to stream games to its next videogame console,” according to its own sources.

The new technology, to be unveiled Wednesday along with the new console, will allow users to play games delivered over the Internet, these people said. The streaming service, they added, is designed to use current PlayStation 3 titles on the new console; the new device is also expected to play new games stored on optical discs.

As WSJ points out, such a move on Sony’s part would be unsurprising. Even when it was drowning in red ink, it still took a massive risk when it bought streaming service Gaikai for $380 million. There is absolutely no doubt that, with an investment that significant at such a difficult time for Sony, Gaikai's technology will be poised to play an important role in Sony’s future.

Streaming games to PlayStation 4 (and perhaps other Sony devices) would be significant, giving gamers access to a wide array of titles that they never had to purchase outright. This could suggest that Sony may have a game rental-like service on its next PlayStation, or perhaps even a new subscription service that would give gamers access to a library of offerings. At this point, everything remains speculative.

We've reached out to Sony for official comment and will update when we hear back. In the meantime, catch up on all of the pertinent PlayStation 4 news and rumors, including (but not limited to) information on PS4's controller, word of a new LittleBigPlanet and the possibility of Killzone 4 being a launch title.

You must remember. Sony doesn't comment on rumors and speculation. Don't expect any questions answered until the 20th when the supposed announcement is dated. I doubt they'll show anything worthwhile anyways.

If anybody is getting it, what do you guys plan on playing first? Sadly, my brother only preordered both CoD and Killzone SF so those 2 are the ones I'll be playing.

At launch? No.

I'm waiting until about February before I get mine. Maybe even longer. But if I did get it at launch I'd get Knack, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Resogun, and Contrast.

And in February I'd get the mighty Infamous: Second Son. And then DriveClub for PS+.

Also The Order: 1886 looks REALLY good so far. Dying to see gameplay.

I might get my own next year or just a Vita again since they got some good games coming out next year. Knack, Resogun, and Contrast look really fun and different. Forgot we get Reso and contrast for free thanks to PS plus. You're being smart for getting it later since they're might be launch problems.

I pre-ordered mine back at E3 when the price was initially announced, but since then there really hasn't been much that interests me at launch. Rather than cancel my pre-order, I figured I'd look into flipping it on ebay. I figure any extra money I can get out of it, I can use to offset my Xbox One purchase the following week and just repurchase the PS4, when I feel like it.

Im definitely waiting on the Xbox One. I'll probably wait til they re release it as a slim version or something. Something completely different than what they are offering right now.

I'll wait a bit before I get it like my brother and I did for the PS3 (that's now mine).

College is ending for me this semester and well... I'm really, really, REALLY begging to mah parents for a puppy for a graduation present. That or a car.

Why not a PS4? Well, they're still making games for the PS3, do I really want to go to a new system when they're still making games for the one I have?

I'll be getting one this Friday. I'm pretty excited about it. The delay of Watch Dogs took some of the wind out of my sails. I'll probably end up with Assassin's Creed IV, despite my apprehension after AC3. I'm undecided on Knack. It looks like it could be fun. Contrast and Resogun look like they'll be the heroes of this launch. Great looking games. InFAMOUS Second Son is right around the corner. Excited for that one.

*Insert Why not both gif here*

When I get my PS4 I'm not trashing my PS3. I'll keep it around because it still has great games that PS4 doesn't. But PS4 definitely has some interesting titles that PS3 doesn't. So I'll be playing those as well.

It's not like it has to be one or the other. You can have both.

With the history of bugs, glitches and problems on launch consoles I'll never understand why anyone would want a system on day one. Especially when a year from now the PS4 will have a $100 price drop, a much better selection of games, a larger hard drive and everything sorted out and fixed. The other thing to is the lack of launch games that aren't original/exclusive or shooters. I think the last time a console had amazing launch titles was the PS2 and that was 13 years ago.

I only plan on getting one next-gen console, and so far the PS4 has no exclusives I care about. I'll probably get an Xbone, but I need to see how it handles before throwing down $500. There are some horrible rumors going on about it's online network, and this 720p bullshit is ridiculous. Actually, ridiculous isn't strong enough of a word. It's absolutely unacceptable. The fact that a device with the primary function of playing games can't easily run 1080p in the year of 20-fucking-13 makes zero sense.

Getting a PS4 at launch. Pre-ordered Knack, downloading Warframe, will be playing both quite a bit.

I'm really hoping for a fun-filled experience with Knack. It's been a long time since an action-adventure title really grabbed me, so I'm looking forward to it.

I agree with Kunglaodoesntsuck, everyone always tries to justify not getting a new system. Either they cant afford it, or they are cheap lol. I will be getting Killzone and the two controller bundle. I pre ordered off Target so I hope it doesnt take too long to get here.

Mortal Kombat 10
Tekken 7
Soulcalibur VI
Little Big Planet 3
Injustice 2

Two or more of these games would have to be released on the PS4 in order for me to buy it.

LBP Hub is happening don't know about LBP3. The rest are guarantees but you'll be waiting a long time for any of them. Especially Injustice 2 and Tekken 7. Both of which will have a game in front of them so I'm guessing those are like 5+ years away. And that's just the minimum.

Screw the car and the PS4. Get a puppy. It's all you'll ever need.

Mortal Kombat 10 will likely come before any of the other fighting games.

I'm sure Soulcalibur VI will come last, most likely five or six years from now. Tekken 7 will probably come in a couple of years. Injustice 2 has some distance, but only time will tell for that one.

IGN has started reviewing PS4 launch titles, Flower 9.5, Resogun 9.0, Killzone 8.0, Knack 5.9. Can't wait to get mine!

Tekken 7 is pretty far off. We haven't even seen a Tekken X Street Fighter reveal yet. And that game is slated to happen. Wish we'd get some news about it already.

Injustice 2 is behind MK10, and we haven't got a reveal on that yet. That's looking like a 2016 and beyond release.

Also, anyone know what this Sony advert means? I've watched it again and again and I can't find it's significance to PS4. It's clearly about Street Fighter but what's the connection? Anyway here it is:
