I was curious as to who this Poison character was after seeing people so excited for him/her so I wikipedia-ed him/her. From what I can gather, the whole transsexual thing was just so US gamers wouldn't have qualms about beating up a woman (but tranny beating is one of the most popular sports over here). If this is true, then sorry, but Poison really is a girl.

so if you see her as a tranny she is, however if you see her as a female and has always been a female then that is what she is.

Right. We already established the "intentionally ambiguous statements" found and explored in Garlador's post not to mention how problematic retcons can be on continuity. At this point though it sounds like you're trying to convince yourself more than anything. Sooooo... have fun with that.

No disrespect to garlador's excellent post but, I will believe an actual developer of the game who actually knows what the deal is, that being "The viewer to decide". which means that when a developer of the game says it is up to "the viewer to decide" It is up to me to decide whether Poison is a tranny or not in MY copy of the game, as it is up to you to decide whether she is a tranny or not in YOUR copy of the game.

USA = Had full operation to become a woman.

Japan = "Tucks her stuff away to appear female" So in Japan she/he didn't have any operation. ****ED*T*** Never mind, it was already explained.

You're right. Shouldn't matter what her gender is. As long as she plays well and is fun to use, that should be all that counts.

I'm just happy that they're using her. I always thought she'd make a fantastic fighting game character because of her acrobatic style. Hope Capcom decides to use her for more fighting games in the future. Roxy too.. a killer tag team lol.

Wanna bet that one of Poison's alternate colours is those of Roxy? ;P

So I'm new around these boards but I was lurking around for quite a bit. With this thread, I decided to join post what I think about this whole situation.

First of all, I'm hyped like a madman about Street Fighter X Tekken. It's gonna be quite a game and quite possibly the only fighting game that will take my attention away from SSFIVAE and MK9. So about Poison. I announced that she was confirmed to one of my friend who really like her as a character and he watched that cinematic from Comic-Con.

He basically said to me: ''Well she looks like a woman in this game. She's a female to me.'' To me, it will depend on what the canon and game says but in the end, it's only a video game character and people can think what they prefer about them. I saw Chun-Li say that fighting Poison was like fighting a man after a match at Evo, so she could still be male or trans but in the end, it doesn't matter.

I just think that Poison is awesome, male or female. She looks great, fast and agile. Can't wait to fight her. Glad that she's in the game. Now I just hope Cody and Guy get confirmed. There's so many characters I want in this game. The roster better be big.

Capcom created her, whatever they say goes and that's that.
If you don't like it, tough fucking shit. Poison was born a man whether you like or not. Any statement you make to the contrary is wrong, non-canonical, untrue and 100% irrelevant. That's all there is to it. :)
Capcom get the final say. They say she was born a man, so she was. End of.

Well, the muddied waters grow ever murkier. I think Capcom likes to have fun with it, regardless of whether or not they ever "confirm" anything or not.

But as I've said earlier, whatever Poison is, she's both a great character and a very sexy one to boot.

Oh shit this is still going on... whatever poison still a born female in my book, especially because of this thread. this is my last post in this thread mainly because I no longer care about arguing about it anymore. As it's been said Poison is what the viewers decide she is.

Well, personally I prefer to see her as a transvestite, because it just gives so much to her character and makes her a stronger character because of it, instead of just being a random street ho.

Poison is my favourite capcom character of all time with the sole exception of Vega, I'm thrilled she's in.

I personally like the gender mixup surrounding her, its fun and makes her stand out from every other repetetive sexy girl stereotype character.

I actually knew a haermaphrodite in college, she looked very femenine, actually had a killer body, and was always referred to as 'she'. Unless you were told you'd never suspect anything unusual. Boys would flirt with her all the time. But she was packing a seriously impressive extra appendage. The point is, I find it believable Poison is transgender or haermaphroditic, just not in those particular shorts anyway.

You and Jaded nailed it. The transvestite angle is a unique aspect to her character that sets her apart from all the "SexyFighterGirl" stereotypes out there now. The fact that no one is validating one story or the other (well now anyway) makes it even better. Keeps her interesting and mysterious. Poison is whatever you want her to be, the perfect fantasy actually lol.

Absolutely. Even I can fancy her and not be gay, lol. As for whether I ever rode or not, that's between me and her, lol
