Sadness

How tragic it is that the funniest amongst us are often the most tormented. I've never battled depression myself, and thank God for that, but a good number of my family members and friends have struggled with it, as well as anxiety disorders. That depression can cut down a giant among men like Robin WIlliams, it serves as a strong reminder of a growing problem we must all combat.

Fact: Most people don't know this but Robin Williams went through his entire life struggling with severe depression issues.

Incredible how someone with so much adversity in his life never missed out on a chance to make you laugh

Mrs Doubtfire
Jumanji
Jack
Dead Poets Society
Aladdin

easily my top five Williams films.

For once the whole of the internet seems free of the cynicism that surrounds celebrity death. This man was beloved.

To this day I can quote every one of Genie's lines in Aladdin. I hope he's happier now, wherever he is.

I was so shocked when I saw the headlines earlier today. He was a massive pat of my childhood and that of many others. I can't believe I only saw The Birdcage for the first time only a few weeks ago and was applauding his performance. May he rest in peace. And thank you Mr Williams for all of the joy and laughter and your immeasurable talents.

The way his life ended is just beyond tragic. The human exterior is a very powerful facade. Guess you never know how much someone is suffering behind all the laughter. Robin Williams WAS my childhood, Hook, Jumanji, Aladdin, Popeye, Mrs. Doubtfire, absolutely a comedic icon. RIP

Yes, first Bob Hoskins("Smee") and now Robin.

You guys have said everything I could have said myself, really. I'm devastated and heartbroken by this. When I heard the news last night I actually cried. I believe this was the first time I have ever cried over a 'celebrity' death. sad

Just horrible. What a loss.

He was known for comedy, but his acting chops were amazing. He struggled getting his hands on solid script, and I think he just gave up in the final years of his career. He had good dramatic films, but something tells me that was only a glimpse of what he was capable of. He'll definitely be missed.

Crazy, never would've expected him to go this soon. Jumanji, Aladdin, Mrs. Doubtfire... Sad, disappointed, very few celebrity deaths actually affect me.

My condolences to the family, R.I.P., Mr. Williams.

- Blizzard Honors Robin Williams By Adding Him To World Of Warcraft

Now, thanks to a successful petition on Change.org, the self-professed video game enthusiast will appear in Blizzard's popular MMO World of Warcraft.

Petition organizer Jacob Holgate wrote on the petition page that Blizzard employees have resolved to handle the petition's request to add Williams into the game as a non-playable character tastefully. When questioned about the petition on Twitter (before the goal of 10,000 signatures had been met), World of Warcraft technical game designer Chadd Nervig wrote, "Yes. We're taking care of it."

It's sad to hear this he was a great actor and he will be missed. RIP.

He was fantastic in Law And Order SVU episode he did showed other sides to him besides his great comedic roles he played. Showed he had talents to do other types of acting.

So in honor I've watched Good Will Hunting, Jumanji, Hook and quite a bit of Mork and Mindy this week.

Blubbed the whole time. It's still so sad. You imagine these guys as eternal. But at the very least, his work and contributions to the world will always be timeless. <3

- Robin Williams' World of Warcraft Tribute May be a Genie

Datamined files from the latest beta build reveal the addition of a new NPC called "Robin the Entertainer". As some commenters have already pointed out, the fact he's a genie leaves the door open for him to shapeshift into other forms, with the idea of a troll called Jumanji being a very popular suggestion.

Other forms spotted include a human female, likely a nod to Mrs. Doubtfire, and a human male, who we suspect may be Mork.

Very cool. More info the article. I thought The Fisher King might've been a good fit for Warcraft. Fighting the Red Knight, The Grail and whatnot. Can't go wrong with what they've done, though. Charming.

I admire both Blizzard and Nintendo for adding Williams in as a tribute to him.

HOWEVER

People are already complaining and bickering and whining that what Blizzard has so far looks nothing like the Genie. They're not going to do a splitting image because A.) they have their own style, and B.) legal issues.

It's a shame that what Blizzard is doing for a tribute to the late actor is already getting heat from people (majority I doubt even plays anymore) when they didn't even have to do any of this. It's what they are creating for the tribute, they took the fans' want and started to make it happen, nothing telling them HOW the characters should look like. I think this is one of the coolest tributes I've seen for Robin. I think this would have made him proud to know how awesome he is to people.

I am pleased that they did this, and to find that they're also adding a spoof to Mrs. Doubtfire makes this tribute even more awesome. To those who have a problem with how they look, get over it, really. I'm not trying to derail this thread with this complaint, but you'd think people would have a little bit more respect for something like this. Blizzard didn't need to take their time in creating this character, and to just read comment after comment that's nothing but bashing is downright pathetic, especially since this is just to show tribute to an avid Warcraft player.

It really is terrible. After hearing about it my flatmate found a bunch of his live stand-up shows. One of which was very recent, and there's no clue as to how much he must have been suffering from depression. In fact his mind was going very much the usual pace for him (a mile a minute) with the spot-on political commentary and all.

The whole world is going to miss this one.
