A new Doctor's first episode, to me, is always a bit underwhelming. I think it's because the writing style and acting style of the character has yet to really be flushed out. It's actually hard to get people to start to watch the show because Rose, in my opinion, is a pretty poor episode.

I like it. It's relatively low-key compared to his previous two incarnations, which I hope means he's going to be a little more grown up/paternal Doctor. Not that I didn't enjoy Tennant and Smith, but rather I think it's time for the Doctor to more an authority figure. Going off past Doctors, I'd like Capaldi to be a bit like Jon Pertwee.

Certainly dressed for it. Not sure if he's got the kung fu chops, though.

This is being pitched around the net as a sweet, heart melting moment. Really, I think people are just taken aback by the fact he didn't death stare their souls out of their bodies, or verbally eviscerate them. Still nice.

Looks like Doctor #12 ("Eleven") is preparing arguments for best Doc polls.

It adds an extra bit of humor to that photo if you remember the Doctor used to be the Riddler

On the subject of Matt Smith and his Doctor's era, fans may wish to investigate the exploits of their favourite thespians as they branch out into other sci-fi ventures:

- Karen Gillen is balding up for Guardians of the Galaxy.
- Matt Smith is jumping back into time in Terminator: Genesis

Be sure to follow appropriate links to investigate and discuss these stories further.

Actually, I hope the flames mean a new TARDIS desktop. I wasn't diggin' 11's second set.

I liked it much more than the rusty machine hell reboot interior, but a change wouldn't hurt.

Hehe, agreed.

I got curious about Dr. Who after a friend of mine kept constantly praising the show and after I played that Google Doodle game for the 5th anniversary. I started watching it about a year and a half ago.

My feelings were mixed during the first couple of episodes. I thought 'Rose' was boring and the Slitheen were just terribly designed and watching them transform made me lol each time, but 2nd and 3rd episodes in between I really liked.

The first Dalek appearance (I wasn't aware of them until then) and the Are you my mummy episodes (probably the creepiest/scariest episodes of the first season) made me keep watching the show.
One of the best/most entertaining moments of season 1 for me was the 'You are the weakest link'-robot destroying the invading Daleks while saying the phrase, until one of them blew it/her up lol.

Season 2 was very entertaining. It introduced me to my favorite character, K-9. The metal dog just melted my heart. XD Sarah was cool too. Then there were the Cybermen and the Ood and some more of Daleks (them vs Cybermen was very entertaining). The season finale was very sad.

As for season 3, I was kinda annoyed with Martha, just didn't like 'I'm so sad The Doctor isn't in love with me' attitude. At this point, although I still thought they were cool, I kinda started to get annoyed with the constant re-appearance of the Daleks. And then there were them... The Weeping Angels... I knew they would eventually show up. I remembered them from that Google Doodle game where they killed most of my Doctors. Absolutely loved 'Blink', although I thought at the end when The Doctor 'tricked' the Angels and they ended up looking at each other, I think there was a little slip as 2 of 4 the Angles were out of the others' site.

Season 4 was good, I ended up liking Donna more than I thought I would. And the finale with all the heroes gather was enjoyable.
At the time I simply stopped watching. I thought that was a fine ending and kind of felt like 'I don't need any more of the Doctor', like I was satisfied with what I've seen and didn't have the desire to get used to another new face of the Doctor.

So, about half a year passed since I stopped watching the show and then one day I accidentally stumbled upon one of the newer episodes on the national TV channel. I recognized Matt Smith (I remember his face when Tennant transformed), and I was just curious since I watched the show. The episode was 'The Snowmen' and I got swept off my feet by the charming Clara Oswin Oswald and actually enjoyed Smith's performance too. So... I decided to continue watching from where I left off.

At first I was saddened when I realized that Clara wasn't the next companion and I was extra saddened when I later found out that I would have to wait for 2 entire seasons until she shows up. I wasn't crazy about Amy and Rory, but in the end I warmed to them. The problem here was, as I was constantly waiting for Clara I wasn't really focusing either, and all the confusing time flow stuff with River Song and The Doctor made it even harder to focus. Not to mention that at that time, I would usually watch the episodes late at night, usually after a very exhausting day at work, which made it even harder to focus.
I didn't like what Moffat did with the Weeping Angels either (man he unnecessarily complicated them: radiation feeds them; you must not look them in the eyes... What?! They were just better before, when they were more mysterious and simpler.). I also got really tired of the Daleks, this time in Power Ranger colors too.
However, I really enjoyed Matt Smith's performance and in the end he became my favorite Doctor. Small thing, but I love they way he would slide around the Tardis lol. And yeah, loved Clara, the impossible girl.
The 50th anniversary episode was fun, though I was hoping to see Christopher Eccleston back since he only had one season and he was good.
The final episode was kind of boring and I was a bit disappointed to have parted with my favorite Doctor in such a way.

Anyway, I will be back for more of Doctor Who when the show continues and I'm looking forward to an older version of the Doctor. I have a feeling he and Clara will make a great team.

"Time to make an appointment: The new season of "Doctor Who" kicks off 8pm Saturday, August 23 on BBC America."
"The new Doctor lands on Saturday, 23 August when the new series opens with a feature-length episode entitled “Deep Breath”." - @bbcdoctorwho

Also quite similar to what it looks like when I log onto MKO.

I was defending Moffat on this, thinking that it was just character development for the Angels, and I never thought about this until I saw a replay of "Blink" this morning. You can't look an Angel in the eyes, but in "Blink", Larry ends up with an Angel right up in his face, staring into his eyes for at least several seconds. Does an Angel imprint itself into his mind? Apparently not.

It's just one of several contradictory events during Moffat's tenure running the show that makes me think he makes shit up off the top of his head, and just has everyone act it out on camera.

***NOTE: I copied the rest of this post from a post I made on another forum about this. Lazy. ***

This doesn't get under my skin though. Not anywhere as much as him making the regen from 10 to 11 the "last" one, despite numerous indications that it wasn't. Healing River's wrist with regen energy. Faking a regen while shrunken in that machine. Telling Rory that Chen7 would kill him, "no regeneration", and when River poisoned him, he tells his TARDIS interface that he'll just regenerate, to which the interface replies, "Regeneration disabled." That's probably because he didn't have a fucking regen to have disabled in the first place. Right, Moffat?

Maybe it can be written off as him forgetting due to trying to forget his War Doctor life, but I think having no more lives left is something you'd want to be aware of. When I play a game with a life counter, I make sure to keep track of how many 1-ups I've got remaining.

But any of this still doesn't piss me off to what I've just realized recently. You can't get much more blatant than this in contradicting your own shit. In "Time of the Doctor", before The Doctor heads up the tower, he tells that guy, "I've got a plan." Then he turns to Clara and says, "I don't have a plan."

Which means he lied.

Which means there shouldn't be a fucking "truth field" forcing the Doctor to tell the truth, should there, Moffat?!

I think I'll end up enjoying Capaldi as The Doctor, but I can't help but feel like Moffat's going to continue his bullshit, and ruin it forever.

- Peter Jackson-Directed ‘Doctor Who’ Episode ‘Will Probably Happen’

“He’s still incredibly busy on The Hobbit,” Moffat tells SFX. “I’ve spoken to him face to face, and he would like to do one. He accepts that there’s no money and that there’s no time, and it would have to be when he’s available – and I don’t think he’s even been available enough to answer our emails of late! I think it will probably happen at some point. I mean, he can do what the hell he likes – he owns New Zealand! I think he’s sincere in his Doctor Who fandom, to say the least. He’s a nice guy, he quite often drops me a line after a show goes out. He’s into it – it’s just ‘Can you make it work?’ I think he would also like us to go and make it in New Zealand! And I’m like ‘Okaaay... I’d rather we just flew you to Cardiff!’”
