I was actually kinda pissed when I saw him in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The qhole movie itself sucked, but that just got me bad. Three movies go by and he gets nothing, then this crap shows up and gets thrown in out of a whim. He deserves better.
Iceman's got a beard now!
In other film news, it has been confirmed that actor BooBoo Stewart will be playing the role of Warpath in X-Men: Days of Future Past, while Omar Sy's portrayal of the mutant Bishop is still under rumor.
I seriously hope Bishop is in this movie.
EDIT: (5:11 pm CST) Just a mere 10 minutes ago, director Bryan Singer tweeted way may be a spoiler pic of Wolverine and Beast. I'll leave you all to click at your own discretion.

... Chiming in on a previous conversation....
The dvd commentary on X2 also says Mystique is Nighcrawler's mother, I believe...... They said something about wanting to acknowledge their relationship without confirming it, which is why they gave Nightcrawler and Mystique that one tiny scene together. Of course, I watched that when I was 10, so I could be completely making this up, haha. Sometimes.... The memory... She lies.
If there is one thing from the third movie I want them to fix, it's what happens to Mystique. Interestingly enough though, that sort of thing would be perfect for the First Class Mystique who spends the whole movie accepting her appearance. Kind of a cruel twist of fate, heh... Still, I want it to go away.

The trailer seems to show Wolverine as the central character, which is pretty shitty considering Shadowcat is the central character of the Days of Future Past story arc.
Hopefully, that's just the editing of the trailer.

Sorry to disappoint, but I believe a recent article has Singer saying that he has Kitty somehow use her phasing powers to send Logan/his mind into the past. How that works, I have no clue.
I'm pretty disappointed with how the Days of Future Past film turned out.
Shadowcat isn't the central character of the film, Rogue was cut from the film, Nightcrawler isn't even in it, and Wolverine is once again shoved in our faces (like Scorpion lol).
At this point, I'm not sure if I'll be seeing the movie.

And I'm not particularly happy with what the end credits scene was rumored to be, either.

Wolverine being the guy kinda makes sense in this instance.
See, the whole "send your mind into your past self" thing requires someone who was alive at both times.
In the original story, it was far-future X-Men sending one of themselves back to the present day. Kitty was old in the future and was the youngest X-Man in the present, so she worked.
In THIS story, it's present/near-future X-Men sending one back to the 70's, because the whole reason they're even making the movie is to have both the original film cast AND the First Class cast in the same movie.
Well, the only people who exist in both times are Xavier, Magneto, and Logan.
Personally, I'm kinda liking how the movie sounds, because I get the impression that it's going to be not much of the future time period and a whole bunch of the First Class time period, and that's what I want, because of all the movies, I liked First Class best. Not that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan aren't awesome, they totally are. It's just that I could never get into the movie versions of Rogue or Colossus or any of those guys. My investment's all in Charles, Erik, and a couple characters who died in 3.

While that's true and all, I just think that most people are getting, to put it nicely, really, really, really tired of Wolverine hogging all the limelight, myself included, though I do like Hugh Jackman and admire his dedication to the character. For Jesus' sake Fox, give someone else a chance once in a while.

Why would Nightcrawler be in it?

I'm guessing because fan favorite and the fact X-Men: First Class had both of his parents, Mystique and Azazel, joining young Magneto's Brotherhood. Plus the fact that they're using both the First Class cast and the original trilogy cast in this movie.
Well Nightcrawler was in all of 1 movie out of 4, so I see no reason why he'd be back. His character's pathos started and finished in the X2, with no loose ends to tie up.
You're more than entitled to WANT to see him, hell I would too, but I can't see why anyone would be surprised at this.

I was actually hoping that in the movie following X2, which is now X-Men: The Last Stand, that Nightcrawler would fulfill his duty as an X-Man, and later leave to pursue his ideal path as a priest.
In X2, he didn't even have a departure. The movie ended with it seeming as if he was a new member of the X-Men. Instead, X-Men: The Last Stand moves as if he never existed. If you ask me, that was a pretty assholish move.

What's worse, that semi tie-in game X-Men the Official game was supposed to explain why he wasn't in The Last Stand. Pretty....Pretty stupid.

X-dudes should think about getting a dedicated Days of Future Past thread cooking. Especially with 25 Empire covers dropping throughout the day: Here's the first.

- Claremont Bamfs Back to the X-Men with "Nightcrawler"
It probably won't last long, but it's always good to have Nightcrawler back in the mix. I was a bit iffy on the last "on-going", but the Icons mini-series that preceded it was a real favourite. Hope they can mix up the art style in future issues. Digging this cover:

I think we can all agree that X3 handled the franchise worse than poorly. From the inexplicable Nightcrawler absence to well everything else.

Actually, I'd say First Class was handled the worst.
It didn't have the slightest bit of accuracy towards the comics. Hell, the film had Havoc, Cyclops' younger brother, as a grown man in the 60s.
Even X-Men Origins, which completely destroyed the actual story of Wolverine, wasn't handled as badly as First Class. Still, I think casting a 6-foot-two guy to play Wolverine was definitely the worst decision made to the franchise.

Out of all movies, First Class was my favorite. Original X-Men trilogy was a borefest and Wolverine: Origins was...well...not a good movie.
First Class was entertaining. It was first time, when I was really interested in the story and characters were actually interesting (well, more interesting than usually for this series). Another example when following source material is not necessary to make a entertaining story.

I find it repulsive to severely alter existing stories for the sake of entertainment, especially when the story being altered is a critical one, such as the origin of the X-Men.
Now, I can understand the idea of utilizing creative license; I do happen to be a fan of Tim Burton. However, the gist of an adapted story should remain true. X-Men: First Class completely abolishes the actual origin of the X-Men, as well as the many stories of the characters within the film.
The only way I can accept the film is if it is legitimately documented as a being set within an alternate universe, along with the rest of the film series.

Well of course it is, it's a movie, not connected to the source material. And it's a series that kicked off in the 90's, before they figured out how to embrace the cheesy premises and colorful costumes inherent to the hero genre like Raimi's Spidey or the Marvel Studios flicks.
From the very first one, it was obvious they weren't following the comics, the way Wolverine and Rogue joined together and her having no adopted daughter relationship with Mystique, not to mention the way they changed William Stryker from a bigoted reverend into a military general in charge of Weapon X in the second one.
Oddly enough, I actually agree with Sumac on something for once. First Class is the best of the X-Men films (at least, of the main line. I REALLY liked the Wolverine in Japan movie), mostly because I care about Charles and Erik WAY more than I care about any other X-Men character (except maybe Cyclops, who every movie has just completely screwed over), so it was awesome to see a film that focused entirely on them instead of having poor Captain Picard get kidnapped or knocked into a coma or killed halfway through the movie to eject him from the plot like in the other three.

- Resurrected NIGHTCRAWLER Comes Face-to-Face with Cyclops, Mystique in AMAZING X-MEN #6
Seems like Nightcrawler is really the man of the moment in the X-books.
Absolutely loving the colours on this issue. Great interiors. Would like to see the solo book get some of this pop and energy!
