The latest cover of Game Informer has been released today and it shows a new younger looking Lara Croft render from her upcoming game - Tomb Raider.

I like how it's just called Tomb Raider like how the new MK is just called Mortal Kombat.

Lara looks incredible, she is much younger in this one.

Check out the updated tombraider.com.
You have to be 18 to enter which looks like this could be the first ever M/18 rated TR game! That would be amazing.

There are no videos or screenshots yet, but I would expect they will be released soon.

Apparently the story known upto now is that a ship Lara is on crashes on a deserted island which is one big open world environment, much like Just Cause 2 or GTA4.

How that would work on a TR game i dont know.

It looks like Lara has a bow on her back in that picture. I don't think she has ever used one of those before.

I would expect this game to be out around November 2011 on 360 & PS3 but rumours are floating about for a summer release. Can't wait! grin

I hope they dont have it on a million platforms like the last few games, just focus on 360 & PS3 pleeeease!

Presumably this is the 'survival horror-esque' 'pre-hero' game that was being talked about? Not wild about the redundant titles, but you've gotta give them credit for at least telling a new story, making a new game!

What was wrong with the old Laura? Other than the shitty camera that followed her?

She reminds me of something out of the new Devil May Cry. That's a bad thing. You know, I liked Dark Knight as much as the next guy, but Chris Nolan's make-everything-gritty revolution in media is starting to get really old. If the games weren't very good before, reinventing Croft into something trendy isn't going to convince me otherwise.

Same here! wow

If this PS3 is capable of these types of graphics...I can't even imagine what the next gen of consoles will be capable of. Based on this I'd say they'll be able to render graphics that truly look real.

Great graphics, indeed.

Her lips need to be a little reder, though. Either way, I like this new Croft.

From Game Informer:

Lara Croft will be 21 in Tomb Raider
- Tomb Raider will be rated M for Mature
- There will be no real life Lara Croft model
- Tomb Raider is a reboot of the brand, not only the series
- There are brutal deaths in the game this time. One is described as a deranged man stabbing Lara in the chest and another includes a boulder falling on her leg to trap her before another falls and crushes her head.
- Weapons to include a shotgun, bow and pistols
- The lock on targeting system has been replaced with a free aim system
- There are base camps in the game. Here you can combine items to create something new and access a skill system to upgrade Lara's abilities. You'll also be able to use base camps to fast travel to different locations to minimize backtracking.
- You'll need to gather food and water in order to survive
-There are humans in the game, including some of the crew members from the shipwreck off the coast of the island.

Sounds like uncharted and resident evil 5 all mixed together.

That's the actress that's gonna play Lara Croft in the next Tomb Raider? She's pretty cute.....

Square picked up the franchise in 2009. But they're only publishing, Crystal Dynamics is still the developer.

I wasn't into Lara until I played the Guardian of Light. That game was so much fun so I'll definitely keep an eye on this one.

So the new MK will just be "Mortal Kombat," the new twisted metal will just be "Twisted Metal," and now the new tomb raider will just be "Tomb Raider."

Rebootmania indeed. 2011 is gonna be so exciting. Finally I'll have a PS3 with PS3 games worth buying.

2011 Shopping List...

Mortal Kombat
Twisted Metal
Marvel vs Capcom 3
X-Men: Destiny
and now Tomb Raider! fun fun fun

I wish they'd just create a new franchise as a spiritual successor, but I guess the goodwill they have just by using "Lara Croft" will help them sell.

If that cover is any indication as to what the game will look like then it will be one great looking game. Just wonder how different this will play or be to the previous games. Hopefully does have its changes to make things fresh and interesting again, but not too completely different that it feels completely different.

It's about time that Tomb Raider becomes an actual tomb raiding game. Unlike this Legend crap that we've been receiving.

Finally, a Tomb Raider that I'm interested in playing since Angel of Darkness!

And finally... gritty deaths!!!!

I really doubt that that pic is gonna be the graphics of the game.

We usually get a few awesome promo renders which looks nothing like Lara does in the final version.

For example:

&

Will probs still look good tho!

I love the sound of the brutal deaths! Poor Lara lol.

I'm sure the graphics won't look as good and realistic as this render does. It's just a promo photo.

I imagine it would take forever to make a game with graphics that detailed. But hopefully they'll still be good.

Damn! I haven't played a Tomb Raider game since Chronicles but it looks like I'll probably give this a go! Whether the look of this cover is real graphics or not. Still sounds cool.
