i'm actually comfortable playing on controllers that have at least 4-button faces and L+R buttons.

Yeah Live Anywhere is nice but what if I want to play on my 26 inch LCD HDTV? I'm not a big PC gamer I pretty much grew up in the arcades so I'd love to see support for arcade sticks on the 360.
Well technically, you could play on your TV depending on the type of graphics card you have (I play MAME on my TV all the time). But I know what you mean; in general I would rather play games on a console than play them on a PC (with the potential for all sorts of configuration problems). On the other hand, I'd rather play on my PC than pay $400 for a 360. So it cancels out for me in this case.

Hopefully we get both (UMK3 on Live Anywhere and more stick support for 360).

Same here. I just need 2 sets of shoulder button/triggers to map the run and block. It just seems more practical. An arcade stick is good if your going to be standing up while playing the game like at the arcade, but a controller is certainly better for sitting on the couch and playing.

Yeah they can, but I find most of them to still shift around. Theres not enough weight in them to keep them from moving around, and they ddn't come with any kind of lap attachment like steering wheels do.

Shoulder buttons are somewhat convenient for having a finger dedicated to run AND block at all times, but being limited to my thumb for the attacks just kills it for me. That's why I suck on a gamepad. On a joystick I can just leave my thumb on the run button, and have the four free fingers available for the attack buttons. This way I can, for example, charge LK with my pinky and still run in with a combo.

Of course in the end you're gonna do best with whatever setup you are most comfortable with. Although the most precise control possible would have to be the keyboard.

Keyboards are nice indeed but try to pull off 360s with the keys. I mean my favorite character in MK1 is Kano and I just can't pull off his canonball easily with a keyboard. I'm not sayin' it's bad but it's not the best way to play fighting games. Ermac's telekinisis combos are also very hard to pull off with a keyboard.

It's to bad they're not resurrecting the Trilogy instead. All they would of had to of done is... 1) Remove the 4 playable bosses (Goro,Shao Kahn, Motaro, Kintaro), 2) Iron out the known bugs & glitches and 3) Tweak the gameplay a little (remove infinites & cheap **** etc..) and everything would probably balance out. But... I do realize UMK3 was the last 2d incarnation to be in the arcades and is considered by most... to be the most balanced mk out of the 2d era. But it would still be nice to be able to play as your favorite mk character/s (Johnny Cage, Noob Saibot, Baraka, Rayden, Rain, & Human Smoke) that didn't make it in UMK3.

(P.S. - Yes I no... some of them could be activated using cheats... but you shouldn't have to go through with it! The Trilogy didn't!)

A fully arcade quality MKT would be the way to go, unfortunately I doubt we'll ever see that from Midway so we're looking at rom hackers to do that for us.

I have been using the keyboard to play MK since MKII came out for the PC. I use it for any and all fighting games. The problem with keyboards is you have to find one that you can set up a decent layout for and one that also doesn't limit the amount of button presses at once too much. On the Dell standard keyboard, you can set it up so that insert - HP, delete - LP, end - block, pg up - HK, pg down - LK and then whatever you want for run, I use "\" beause it's located where it would be in scale. DreemerNJ uses space bar for run and u o, jkl for attacks because of his ergnonomic keyboard, but if uses that set up on mine the buttons lock up a lot. I can do Reptile's forceballs, Sub's and Rep's Slide, Kitana's fan throw, Sonya's leg grab, and the Human Smoke code, all on this keyboard pressing the individual buttons without binding them to a key. On Capcom games, I can get Zangief piledrivers and Final Atomic Busters, sometimes with almost greater accuracy than a stick. I can also switch between stick and keyboard on the fly. I have grown to hate gamepads, but I can still use them if it's all that's available.

Even on the ergo I still have button locking problems with my layout but its the best one I have found. I am starting to practice a bit on the stick to get ready for ECC11 but its tough. I really want an ultra tight stick. It bugs me how long it takes to push the stick through its full range of motion.

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but Rain wont be in this game because he was never in UMK3 (arcade). Only in snes/genesis & Trilogy.

I've heard it's not going to be out until Dec. for some odd reason. Thats way too long when the only noticeble problem was they didn't have the sound working in the E3 version.

This might be a stupid question, but is there a free version of the game on the Marketplace? If so, what differences are there with the full (paid) version?

Well the free version just tends to be the playable game. If you pay, you can play it online and unlock the achievements.

I wish someone at E3 that tried this game had gone for a damned Kung Lao spin infinite. If it disabled after a few hits, we might be looking at the wavenet version or possibly a new version with gameplay tweaks.

They should make widescreen, rather than have those boarders down the side of the screen. Street figther 2 has similar issues only that is like your playing it on the super gameboy with boarders right around the screensad Just better off playing the aniversary edition on my xbox and MAT2 and not paying for them both again.

Actually, the article is somewhat incorrect as there are reports that this (and the SF2 XBL Arcade game) have a great deal of lag that still needs to be addressed, and the sound didn't work at all (which may have resulted in the sync and lag)

Man this stick works PERFECTLY for Mame play. I just need to "add" a button for run to make it feel perfect and I'll never go back to the x-arcade.

well its cool UMK3 is comin on xbox 360 and you can play it LIVE... BUT the only character ill be using is scorpion and ermac lol, I hate cyber smoke.

They should just release MK trilogy and balance it out were you cant use bosses online at all, under certain circumstances maybe i dunno.
