I haven't been on MKO in months and I happen to log in and see my name dragged up. Crazy and rabid? What the fuck? Lol!

As for the news - all they did was register her as a trademark - calm down. For almost twelve years articles on a third movie have been springing up and meaning shit - considering how poor the other two are, I really don't give a flying fuck if there's ever a third - regardless of Sonya's involment.

:D! I still own enslaved asses! :')

I felt a strange force driving me back to the site O_O Pretty cool bit of news. It may not mean much, but it does mean she's sticking around for a while, and in a prominent way. Regardless of through which media, this is awesome. Hope to see my Sonya again soon (v) (how the fuck do you do hearts again?)

Forgive me if this is an emotional moment for me, seeing you all again sad

Or perhaps it will be Meat-Blaze?

More likely she just the first in a line of characters that is gonna be registered under the WB trademark. My guess the order is gonna be:

Blade, Sonya
Bo' Rai Cho
Cage, Johnny
Cyrax
etc.

Even though this is a good sign that WB is planning to do something with Mortal Kombat, eventually.

For what it's worth, I asked Ed Boon what was behind this on Twitter.

My question:
@noobde Can you comment on WB trademarking "Sonya Blade"? Is there anything to expect? http://tinyurl.com/y988cge

I haven't had a response back from him. I will post if I receive anything.

Seriously, I think people are reading too much into the whole trademark deal

I seriously agree with this.

Though it is a bit suspiscious, I doubt it's anything special.

I agree with this as well.

But, like said by many: it is suspicious and it definitely sparked tons of interest, debate, and speculation. Some very cool articles have appeared all over the net, so, hopefully it will mean something amazing for MK and Miss General Sonya Blade.

Wasn't there an arguement already over who owned the MK movie rights?

Maybe this is Warner Bros way of cutting them out and making a Sonya movie, because its not MK. They can make a prequil that doesn't involve MK.

Kano looks like the T-800. Luckily Warner Bros now owns the Terminator franchise.

Hypothetical questions:
So who's playing Sonya if there is a movie?
- Charlize Theron
- Mila Jovovitch
- Bridgette Wilson
- Cameron Diaz
- Sandra Hess
- Angelina Jolie (she's in everything)

Should this hypothetical movie be animated or live action?

Should this be a prequil / backstory movie where Kano kills Sonya's partner and she pushes him off a building for the finale?

If there is a movie, should it be a totally new idea with the Outworld Intelligence Agency?

Hopefully these questions will have people stirring smile

This could turn out to be awesome, or it could turn out to be balls. Most likely the latter, but surely will have some positives, and I'll want to see it.

BTW what happened to the next MK movie? It's taking even longer than the Tekken one.

I visit the site sporadically, and I just wanted to contribute to this post. WB patenting Sonya does seem quite strange but I have feeling they’re doing it to remove all the YouTube fan vids currently available. By the way for anybody questioning Sonya’s fan base a simple trip to youtube will resolve all doubts pertaining to her popularity.

Although I highly doubt a singular movie/video game/cartoon is in the works because precedents such as Nina’s death by degrees and legend of chun-li all fell flat on their faces, but they were poor in terms of quality.
Personally Sonya is a very rich character and if they do bother taking her seriously then they could finally shed some light on her past such as the death of twin brother Daniel and her family, reasons that drove her to combat crime and her earlier years Pre MK. let’s all not forget Kano’s obsession with her including murdering her previous partner. So WB might recognize that there is potential there and they might want to capitalize on it but I guess it’s all speculation.

One thing I can be pretty sure of is Sonya’s fans base are a dedicated bunch, and have endeavored with the developers carless and complacent handling of Sonya ever since they decided to drop her from MK II. I especially was quite affronted that they didn’t feel the need to include her trademark move set in MK:DA, Deception ( complete absence) and Armageddon, only to finally after 6 years worth of whining to be rewarded in MKVS DC.

Even if it is a prequel based on a main specific character, it will obviously still be Mortal Kombat and it will involve MK one way or the other. Featuring MK characters, MK roles, and MK ideas from the MK Universe pretty much makes it a 100% MK movie, even if it isn't based on the main events that take place on the tournament or the known games.

For the record though, I'm one of the ones who don't think a movie is on the way. This is probably something else, hopefully just as exciting. The possibilities are countless and they could be awesome.

Well said! Veyr nice post. I do hope you are wrong about your theory of doing this to remove all the youtube videos, cause that's lame, hehe.

You waited a month to bump this thread with little to no additive content, specifically to keep it on the first page when it was clear that the conversation was not going to continue on its own. You have done this before and it is still a form of spamming. You have been on this website within the past month, therefore other moderators and I find little reason to think you are doing this for any reason other than attempting to keep this thread alive for the purposes of Sonya discussion.

I have been very generous with the leverage and the amount of warnings I have placed upon you for your several minor spamming, argument contributing and other rule-breaking incidents in the past. I believe this thread has been discussed to it's full potential. The lead in question is very vague and if anymore news should arise from it, a new thread would be made anyhow.
