Why I am voting for W
Why I am voting for W

I decided I will be voting for W. I have thought about this long and hard. I've had discussions with my family about this, because as the son of a Marine I am very passionate about politics and what goes on in the United States. While I don't agree with some of the things Bush has done, or has views on I believe him to be the better choice. My first issue I had was the media. I realized the media is completely democratic, and it's easy to be swayed towards Kerry. I tried to keep an open mind and stay away from the bias media. My second issue was the war in Iraq. I have mixed feelings on this issue. Yes, I don't like the fact that our brothers, sisters, fathers, and grandfathers are dying over there, but I ultimately believe Sadaam was a threat and the war on terror and the war in Iraq are one in the same. You cannot give in to terror.. Then there is Kerry who voted against funds to support the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan with critical supplies like body armor and ammunition. I definately don't agree with Kerry on that issue. Kerry also seems to sway his opinions to that of the U.N. That's not something we exactly need; a leader who will back down when something isn't popular with the U.N. The economy is going up, which is good. We are no longer in a recession and that is because of Bush. Just about the only thing I don't agree with Bush on is the lack of jobs. The reason I knew this was the truth that there is a lack of jobs is because my father was affected by the 9/11 attacks. He is a mechanic at United Airlines, and I have seen with my own eyes his friends, and co-workers getting layed off and not having a job. My family has been lucky, and my father has kept his job. It's going to be hard to vote, for this as my first election I get to vote. I've heard talks about Bush re-instating the draft, and while I don't agree with it I would rather die with George W. Bush as my President than John Kerry. I would gladly give my life for this country, as I almost joined the Army. The only thing that stopped me was my family. It is my belief that Bush is the better leader. Sometimes doing what's right, isn't what's popular with the polls.

I'd rather vote than not vote at all. What if I didn't vote and Kerry became President and cut funding for the troops in Iraq, or did something else stupid? I'd feel partially responsible for not voting against him. Vote or die!

If only ONE person in the entire populace of the United States that could legally vote Felt it was pointless to vote and thus did not vote, then he'd be right. His vote wouldn't make a difference more than likely.
However. When one person feels that way, and then another, and then another, ad nauseum, Then it Does make a difference. I can just about guarantee you're not the only to think that voting is pointless and thus to not vote. The more of you there are, the more your Not voting Does make a difference.
Just some food for thought.
Now keep this thread spark-free, people. You won't sway the poor guy no matter how much you attack him, so keep it in your pants.

I'm not much a politics person, but I am voting for Bush if for nothing more than pure spite for the uber-annoying left wing.

Look at this Hydro and all people who consider voting for Bush. http://fkserv.ugent.be/filologica/dishonor.jpg BTW, the myth of the "liberal media" is an invention of the far right. VQ

For the last 4 years, Bush has basically had his own tv network, FOXNEWS. Depending on who you asked, they put him in the White House in the first place..

I'm voting for Kerry because I'm tired of paying $20 for a tank-full of gas and I'll be damned if Bush isn't, directly or indirectly, responsible. And he let Enron get away with bloody murder. In fact he's letting corporations all over get away with bloody murder. I mean, he's committing unspeakable atrocities against the economy...what with the exportation of jobs and the creation of minimum-wage jobs instead of decent ones for qualified people...
Completely incorrect. He voted against paying for the supplies with the taxpayers money. He voted for the version of the bill that would draw most of the money from the oil reserves in Iraq.
This makes no sense to me. You say that you're passionate about politics but that you can be easily swayed by a bunch of people on a TV?
Also, the media, as a whole, isn't biased in the least. There are some liberal (I assume you meant liberal when you said democratic) outlets and some conservative. I can't see how anybody could watch Fox and think the media is biased towards liberals.
Did you forget who fucked up the economy in the first place? The economy is going back up because it's election year.
I think you should rethisthingisdisableduate who you're voting for, or at least why you're voting for Bush. It's one thing to vote for Bush. It's another thing to vote for Bush for reasons you think are correct, but aren't.
Uninformed voting is the worst kind of voting.

"I decided I will be voting for W."
Please don't call him W, it's just stupid.
"I have thought about this long and hard."
Not to be overly critical, but if you'd thought about it long and hard with an open mind, you wouldn't have come to this conclusion.
"While I don't agree with some of the things Bush has done"
Please be specific, what are you in disagreence with him on?
"My first issue I had was the media. I realized the media is completely democratic, and it's easy to be swayed towards Kerry."
Who told you that lie? The media is obviously right(winged that is
), http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/cool/giants/. You think News Corp doesn't have close ties to Bush? What about the others? They have vested interest in Bush's relection. Millions of dollars are at stake, straight from OUR pockets, to their kids porches!
"My second issue was the war in Iraq. I have mixed feelings on this issue. Yes, I don't like the fact that our brothers, sisters, fathers, and grandfathers are dying over there, but I ultimately believe Sadaam was a threat and the war on terror and the war in Iraq are one in the same."
I think we all have mixed feelings. I don't think Sadaam was a great guy, but...he was less of a threat than many other countries. Why did we chose him? Bush has admited that it was their intention before the 2000 election to invade Iraq. But he failed to mention that while campaigning. We can't kill every evil man because one day they might have been a threat. I had a friend of a friend who died over there, I didn't know him that well but he seemed like a good guy. Maybe one day a threat isn't good enough of an explanation to his mother.
"You cannot give in to terror..
You cannot recreate the Salem witch trials and start killing people that might be witches-I mean terrorists.
"Then there is Kerry who voted against funds to support the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan with critical supplies like body armor and ammunition."
Hyuga hit this one right on, this is a common republican tacktic to get people to vote against democrats. He didn't vote for that version of the bill. He also called for some of the money to be spent from a reformed tax rebate where some of the richest people gave up their money to help fight the war on terror...funny how we're always told "Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country" until you ask a rich person I guess
"Kerry also seems to sway his opinions to that of the U.N. That's not something we exactly need; a leader who will back down when something isn't popular with the U.N."
Look more into most of the comments that were taken out of context. And would you rather have a president that is open minded and willing to change his stance if he thought he was wrong in the past? Or a president, like Bush, who is wrong and won't admit it. That is a disgusting shell of a human, who's error(or lie depending on your pov) costed the lives of nearly a thousand Americans, not to mention thousands of Iraqis.
"The economy is going up, which is good. We are no longer in a recession and that is because of Bush."
Wrong. Health care is still absent in ~15% of Americans. Poverty is still 4 million higher than when he took office. And you want to know something funny? Look at all these great new jobs being made...millions are temporary employment. On average, a person who has gotten work after losing their job in the recession, is making 78% of their previous salary. No, the economy is not well. And THAT is because of Bush!
"I've heard talks about Bush re-instating the draft, and while I don't agree with it I would rather die with George W. Bush as my President than John Kerry."
So you'd rather die knowing that while Bush is eager to take on the problems of other nations, he won't address those in America. That says a lot.

Hehe, I didn't realize I'd piss so many people off just because I am voting for who I believe is a better leader. Listen Hyuga, and Born-Again-Vampire, hate Bush not me. You guys are attacking me, and for what? Because I have my own opinions, and I think for myself? Seriously, I think I'll just keep my political opinions to myself from now on if I'm just going to be attacked for expressing my opinion.

Uh, I find Hydro's sig very asshattish
"Don't be girlie men, Vote Republican"
What the fuck?
Not to say Bush is a girly man, but he was a fucking cheerleader. Theres no relation to masculinity and political affiliation.
Go hang yourself plese.

I never really attacked you. I did say it was stupid to call him W, but that's not an attack. My main point was:
"Not to be overly critical, but if you'd thought about it long and hard with an open mind, you wouldn't have come to this conclusion."
I still believe this. And At the bottom where I say it says a lot about you, this is not an attack, it's a fact. It is evidence into your personality, no matter what your beliefs are. I mean in no way for you to felt attacked.

What are you going on about? I'm not pissed off. I was pointing out the fact that you're misinformed. I was trying to be nice about it, too, considering our past history.
"I have my own opinions"
Again, what are you talking about? Nothing you said you had a problem with was based on opinion.
I was correcting you. Saying you're voting for Bush becuase you're religious, as an example, is based on an opinion. Saying you're voting for Bush because Kerry didn't vote for something is based on a false fact.

It says a lot about my personality because I am voting for Bush? wtf, that's bullshit. You don't even know me, and you shouldn't judge me on who I am voting for. Damn man, that's lame. I like how you are all trying to sway me towards Kerry. Maybe Scotty Howell can back me up on this, because he knows more about Bush and Kerry than I do. It's hard to learn about candidates when the media is swayed towards one side or the other. Yes I agree Fox is conservative and for Bush, but then again the same could be said for Kerry and other news stations. Anyways, I'm going to class, I'll continue this later.

For all you know it says something good about you personality. If you can't take the heat, then STFU and stop posting about an issue such as this. Why don't you respond to what I said? Hmm...I know why and you do too.
