I can understand the development team having to deal with a turn around time for aproval for the DC costumes, but what I don't get is how hard would it actually be for them to get approal for "common sense" alternates like Batman's all black costume, etc?

Thats what bothers me. If they don't have time to do alternates for every character then cool I can understand, but don't short change every chracter because of it.

And as far as Supermna's alternate being his Red Son alternate I'd preffer either Blue Superman, or the black capeless costume w/ long hair from his Return in the Reign of Superman.

It breaks my heart that there are no alternates, but hey, the biggest disappointment is already so way under the bridge, this isn't so bad. I just wish Scorpion looked better. I can't stand that mask.

I agree gameplay is more important, but who are you guys trying to kid by saying that its because of the gameplay that they aren’t giving us the still important costumes?

Havent we been told the same thing about always focusing on the gameplay?

Seriously, alts aren’t being sacrificed for the sake of gameplay, even if they imply it.

And alts are important in their rightful way.

Absolutely. Mortal Kombat gets much of its value from

A) story

B) artistic presentation

We just lost a good chunk of artistic value by losing alternates, and let's not forget: alternate costumes imply story elements.

not really upset about no alts. all the looks i've seen so far have been pretty good and the DC characters have their classic identifiable looks.

as long as no one comes out with an ass ugly look everything should be fine. but i admit that it will hurt the replay value of the game...a lot.

No offense but that has to be the most false accussation I've read on here and again people are making big deal out of "alternates"..... No alternates mean less replay value? Ummm no. Less replay value is judged on the gameplay, online play and overall game period. Who cares about 3 or 4 alternates? god lol. Boon, I commend you for worrying about more important stuff man. I'd do the same honestly. Gameplay>>costumes.

With the storymode, MK vs. DC guys in there, newer cool gameplay, online play, and now if needed online PATCHES the replay value won't be low. wink

Seriously, as a fanbase whole on here do you care about A.good gameplay, especially if you play online with patches now for glitches if needed for a fun, cool experience or would you rather worry about "Batman having DK costume" or Scorpion having a flaming head? Come on more fans need to wise up on priority. Not going to lie.

BTW, I wanted to say thanks MKO/}{0MBAT for submitting and chossing my question. Means a lot and good to see that those are the really important questions.

That's great to hear that patches will be in there if needed now that it's next genre etc. Thank you Ed, you're the man. I'll gladly take patches ANY DAY over an alternate costume.

The best thing to come out of this interview is the certainty that no lame-ass post MK3 characters will be included. Hopefully minimal MK3 ones too, like...one (at the most).

blah. sucks. I wanted alternates. And didn't find anything really informative
about this interview, sorry to say. The same questions are always being
asked ALL the time. And I am tired of hearing Boon repeat himself.

I think it's funny how people are blaming DC for there being no alts. Did no one read the interview? They could make alts....they just don't want to take the time to make them & get them approved.

DC is not against alternate outfits. In the Justice League Heroes game,each character had 5-6 alts. This isn't DC forcing MK to do something, this is MK not bothering with an aesthetic.

Well, they have to be consistent. It wouldn't make sense to give only select characters alts, and it isn't practical to spend weeks on a game model that might not even get approved. That's a lot of time and effort down the shitter.

I wish there were alts, but I'm understanding of their absence.

Look on the bright side, in a newer interview on GS store demo Boon said they want more then one fatality.

My question about a demo was asked in the ]{ombat interview and received a big No. lol. Hell I would've been satisfied with already XBOX360 and PS3 prepared demos available at Comic-Con or even E3. lol. They already have the demos, just post 'em, not that much more extra work, but oh well.

Why is everyone acting like DC said "You can only use one costume"? That's not the case. The issue is this, the MK team needs to get approval for each costume on the DC side because there may be some legal issues that either need to be sorted out, or can't be sorted out, and both DC and Midway would rather avoid being sued. This is a time consuming process, and because of this Boon decided not to include alts.

Of course, this is just an excuse for being lazy because if they had gotten their shit together at the beginning they could have presented a portfolio of possible costume designs for approval and would then be able to draw from that.
