About Me
As Mr. Sloan always says, there is no "I" in team, but there is an "I" in pie. And there's an "I" in meat pie. Anagram of meat is team... I don't know what he's talking about.

I'd be willing to bet on around 26-30 at launch with 2 or 3 completely secret until people unlock them in game( which I would love, brings back that old school fighter feel) And I'd say no more than 12 DLC characters.
I see them doing like 3 packs of 4 characters with a common theme in each pack(heroes, villians, antihero/random)and a handful of Costume DLC packs (pre-order bonuses and what not)
So far, only about 3, maybe 4 characters are in the game that I haven't guessed. We all knew( or at least I did) that all the characters from MKvsDC would be in.
Another thing that baffles me is that this Battle Arena they are doing only has 16 slots, we know there are more characters than that, I guess they just aren't putting them all in there.

So with secrets included, 28-33 at launch, with another 12 as DLC. Totalling at 40-45.
That's expecting a bit much, don't let yourself get let down if it's not that much.
Even though I think there will likely be 24-26 characters in the initial roster, and I don't see them doing more than 8 DLC characters. We got 4 for MK, and they said they would do more for Ijustice, but 3x as much is prob. more than they have the desire/time for. I'd expect the final roster with DLC and all, to be around 32-34 tops. I feel like expecting any more, you are just setting yourself up for disappointment.
I could be wrong though. Only time will tell. I'd love as many as we can get without it becoming unbalanced or lacking character depth and quality. When you get above 32-34, the chances are far more likely that things will go wrong and quality will start to drop, while problems will start to rise.

I won't get my hopes up, I was expecting a lot of DLC characters for MK9 but all we got was 2 and a half.

It's safe to assume that he's not playable. Ed hinted it with his tweet telling us we'll find out if he's playable or not, and the following day we found out he's just part of a stage transition.
