The Boot and Immune game was the brainchild of blackcyborg and has been continued through the efforts of others, mainly tgrant. (The first thread of this game reached 1498 posts!) Of course it could not last long without everyone taking part. However, there have been a few who have made this game difficult rather than fun either through malice or ignorance. The following is some ground rules that I hope will help keep this game going and not banned by the gods of MKO. These are not set in stone and could be changed or completely removed depending on feedback. Mainly wrote this so no one can whine "I didn't know."
1. THIS IS ONLY A GAME! Please repeat as often as needed THIS IS ONLY A GAME!
2. Everyone gets ONE Immune and ONE Boot vote per round.
3. 7 Boot votes removes a character from the game, 7 Immune votes prevents the character from being booted through the existing and following round. After which his/her votes are set to (0,0)
4. DO NOT create/clone multiple accounts/membership/usernames/etc so as to be able to vote more than once. If you are caught you will be ban for the rest of the existing game, and if you are a repeat offender you will be banned permanently. Your name will be seen on the Banned List so that everyone knows whose vote not to count when adding up the votes.
5. Flames are to be kept to a minimum. If your favorite character/fighter has been booted from the game, please refer to Rule #1. However you are allowed to weep and/or cry.
6. Each round will have at least 15 votes. The exception is when there is no one else to vote for. This may happen in later rounds where there are fewer fighters to choose from.
7. DO NOT change your vote after the tally is posted. You are welcome to change your vote during an existing round, but once the round is over it is too late.
8. Team efforts are welcomed.
9. If those of us who normally count the votes are not available and there is already a high number of votes, feel free to complete the tally. Note: Please be honest, trust me others will check your math.
10. When a character wins, he/she will not be included in the following games until after the Grand Championship.
GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP
When there are 16 champions, a Grand Championship between the fighters shall start. The Grand Championship will have basically the same rules as the normal Boot and Immune game. The winner of this game will be given the title of Grand Champion and will sit out of the following games until it comes time to defend his/her title. The others will return to the Boot and Immune game as ordinary fighters. Aside from the first Grand Championship, there will be one returning Grand Champion and 16 challengers to vote for.

I like your guidelines, Lady Raiden, but I have one issue -- the "Kitana Issue."
There should be a time limit or something on when you can change your vote. A person's vote and the current tallies of those votes can drastically affect how others vote. For example, character X is at 6 immune, 5 boot. Player 1 votes to immune. 10 votes later, Player 2 votes to boot, not realizing the character was already immuned. Player 1 changes his vote to boot, thus booting the character. This would be even worse than what happened with Kitana, because then players who would have voted to protect their character didn't because they thought he was already immune. This will lead to big problems if someone's favorite character is suddenly gone -- so we need some kind of rule to limit editing.

Thanks for you feedback...That is one of the reasons behind rules #7 and #9. Rule number nine is there in the hopes that the tallies will be completed more often thus preventing long periods of time between rounds thus preventing this from happening again. Number seven is there to prevent people from changing their votes after the tally has been completed and they see that their fav character has been booted.
You idea of a time limit is a good one but difficult to implement. (As is all rules.) However if this problem continues, we might have to implement your idea.

Deadboy Wrote: Maybe, as opposed to the time limit, you can only change your vote until the next person votes for the same character? |
Unfortunately the only way to enforce it would be to constantly keep track of the votes 24/7 something that is impossible to do. The only way to prevent someone from changing their vote would have the 'edit' option removed, which we can't and don't want to. Often one will vote for someone and then within seconds notice that fighter has already been immuned or booted counting the votes. (I myself have done this) If needed, we could keep a record of all the votes and who made them in a round while we add up the votes, but every second of everyday? I do hope that we don't need to resort to this in any case, frankly if we do it's no longer a game but a job which no one is getting paid for.
