You don't exactly set the best example when you, at this point in your own development, bash artwork to which everything you've created is inferior. Lead by example, my overconfident friend.
By the way, it doesn't take a great artist to recognize when another artist's work is clearly sub-par. However, it does take a great artist to recognize when his or her own work is not up to a respectable standard. That's something that both you and GoobieDoob may want to practice, and I mean no disrespect to either of you when I say that.

Probably because its a sheeva sprite pasted over an image of a spider. I'm not too crazy about it either except for the sprite editing he did himself.
BTW you don't have to like someones art just because they r better than u. Or else why do u bash venomark huh? Makes no sense. Its like u wanna tell critics not to bash actors for their poor acting when the critics themselves can't act any better.
Everyone has a right to their opinion on another persons art; eve you UR...

I didn't mean to bash on him. It was just a bad critique, if ya wanna call it that. I was just saying I didn't like it, sorry. I am not fond of it, true, Sai. The sprite editing is okay and good.
Let's put this one behind us, K!?

On other matters, I just finished one of my most simple, but my favorite, backgrounds to date! The Mental Hospital!

Holy crap! That's a rocking dragon! I only use copy + paste for my stuff too, I just use Paint + GIMP.
TBH, that is the only good teddy bear sprite found, so props to #Teddy77.
Lots of great stuff around here, both old and new.
THIS is just fantastic. Very nicely edited dude

Hello. This is probably going to end up as a concept or scrap, but I'll see what you think. At the time, I was just browsing for BGs.

Here are a few sprites that you may or may not have seen before:
First row, from left to right: Jarek, Nemesis (from "Resident Evil 3: Nemesis"), and Grendel (from Beowulf).
Second row: Spawn.
Aside from Jarek, all sprites were made from scratch without the use of a base sprite.
In due time, there is a small chance that the Grendel sprite could be completely finished, but I don't foresee that being a possibility at any point in the near future. My initial intent was to have his raised arm holding the severed head of Moloch, who was (obviously) to be his latest victim.

This one went up against MKR in a 1on1 FPK but lost. Rocket do you still have your entry saved somewhere?
This one was entered in a public FPK and won the category of best background:

Yeah that Hornbuckle VS Torch is an instant classic and favorite of mine. Only gripe I have is the skeleton in the fire (straight copy and paste with no effort made to make it look like it's sitting in liquid)

The skeleton should at least have lava on it and should not have black highlights, probably orange-red or yellow-orange.

Yeah:
This started out well, but I remember that due to time constraints I didn't get to polish it as much as I had wanted. Did the job getting the win, I guess.

Are you sure this was the one? (nice fake btw)
I remember a custom Reptile sprite severing an opponent's limb with his weapon. The FPK was MK4 themed but I'm pretty sure Quan Chi wasn't in it.

Oh, I know which fake he's talking about. No, I don't have that one saved any where. Unless someone else did, it is lost to the sands of time, due to an old imagehost going down without notice.
And I agree that most of my fakes aren't traditional. A topic for another time.

Here's a smaller version of a fake I made. I worked REALLY hard to make sure your attention wasn't focused on the horrible background.
Rain's Sanctuary:
I got the water idea from, I think it was saiZero's, Buddha Garden fake. The chairs are supposed to be a gate, but I could have just used the one from the MKII Kombat Tomb, now that I think about it. I was planning to add a window too, and have lightning in the sky behind it, but I have trouble with transparency/translucen-sy.

Very good start so far Goobie. My only advise is to remove that backdrop (the VS screen?) Keep working on it. It has great potential.

Yeah, I'll try. I'll also try some different gates and make it outside with it storming! Man am I overthinking this! I'll have it done in about 10 - 15 minutes, then I'll post it. I made a Rain VS Ermac MKIV fake, but it looks really out of place because the arena doesn't go well with MKII sprites . . . anyway, be back in about 13 minutes!
