Synopsis: The Hammer apologies in advance for more breakdance fighting. Each installment was completed far in advance under no editorial supervision. We ensure the use of breakdance fighting will not occur again... Hopefully...
But really... It's Scorpion and Sub-Zero... So you just know SOMEONE'S gonna buy it...

The Hammer is home to Kang, but every so often there's another hidden gem, so check that out. Particularly a post about EBWW that went up today... It's a good read!
Unless you're going to be a meddling foo...
KANG #23
Synopsis: Read the EBWW article. This installment is really lame.
Skip it, and then come back in a few days and read them all in one go. You'll appreciate it more, that way. Seriously, I don't know what I was thinking...
And drop a comment, because I am human and I need to be loved. Just like everybody else does.

Is it really that problematic? It's not like there's a post count to pad.
I've been posting it in the chan with the mods around, too, and no one's mentioned anything. Are you sure the rule isn't more to do with successive threads?
Maybe there should be a rule against posts about nothing other than rules. At least disguise it with some kind of reference to the post like, "Yeah! Good stuff... BUT!"
I'll leave it with you. It can be like homework!
Thanks, chief!
EDIT: Yeah, I just asked a couple [of mods] in the chat chan and they don't seem to mind. Like I thought, as long as it's not succesive threads.
Oh, and without even thinking... Here's an example. I would edit something if it was just additional information to the post. Kang posts are installments, and conveniently keep the thread accessible to those few individuals interested. Those very few.

The Hammer proudly presents a slightly less boring instalment of the series that has one or two people talking about things that may or may not pertain to this series!
KANG #25
Synopsis: Rayden's exposition finally pays off the gag you've been waiting for, as we chronicle another legendary moment in Mortal Kombat history: The defeat of an MK stalwart!
Now's the time to go back and read all those strips you missed, to really pay off this strip which... Was not worth it.

How long have you been reading? That implies the length and structure has somehow prevented any kind of forward momentum.
If it was uninteresting on it's own merit, sure, but even the oh-so dully Scorpion/Sub-Zero bits were moving forward with some kind of point.
If you read from beginning to end, I think you get a better sense of the overall arc (which is quite clearly built on MK canon), and driving most of the strips are some quick, light gags.
Then there are the one or two where I'm in a vaccuum going, "Wow! How cool is this! Scorpion and Sub-Zero fighting! I control the universe!"
But there aren't too many more of them.
By the end I was aware of this (most strips were done in large hits), and tried to at least have some kind of light, traditional sprite strip style material. Because I personally don't think serious story telling with sprites is a feasible application of the tools.
KANG #26
Synopsis: Kano finds a good place to lay low and out of the way of Special Forces agent - Sonya Blade. This hardened criminal isn't afraid of a few creepy crawlies, but he didn't quite count on finding this in the dark.
Repeat chorus!

Thanks for the comments folks!
This one's late posting for two reasons. One, the air conditioning died and it's quite hot here, so I'm incapable of really doing much of anything.
Second, The Hammer fully acknowledges this one isn't great.
BUT tomorrow marks FOUR full weeks of Kang, and just by chance, it's a beauty. So... Come back tomorrow if you want. Klassic Kang.

It's still really hot, I'm up late, I'm bored, so gosh heck. I'll make it up to you quickly! Timezones, aren't they a wonderful thing?
Of course, proclaiming this strip as better than the bad ones is probably going to be The Hammer that drives the nail, but... It's the truth.
KANG #28
Synopsis: Four full weeks of Kang! And it's another milestone moment being canonized once again!
Coming to terms with the existential dilemmas posed by imminent death at the hands of a murderous undead ninja spectre, Sub-Zero takes a moment to reflect, and hopefully, repent.

This was really good, especially #25 where we have the merging of 2 plots...Liu Kang/Rayden in the Pit Bottom following the Sub-Zero/Scorpion fight on the top of the Pit. You really have to keep following the strip but it pays off. I hope the people who were "bored" with the strip at least made it that far, because I'm sure they'd change their minds.
Also, I liked the Ermac "I'm not supposed to be here" gag, as well as in #28 how Sub-Zero felt warm as he was dying and not cold, lol. I thought all the possible humor in MK sprite comics had been just about done, it's nice to see that it can still be done.
Just drop the retarded singing/rhyming Masked Guards, that part sucks :P

Yay! Got to chat to you a bit on mIRC, but thanks for posting in my thread (and you, boomboom).
I think that's definitely something that would benefit this series.
Things like the Oompa Loompa riff is to try to satisfy the needs of the one-shot, quick gag reader, while other strips are catering to a strong on-going read. Hopefully on their own merit those one-shot strips are sustaining the readership, but also tempering the balance if you read the whole thing in one big hit.
As far as pacing goes, a lot of consideration was given to how to balance various plot lines, because I know one of the things that always bothers me about sprite strips is slow moving plots that linger on the same damned background/sprites panel after panel after strip after month.
It's too much, and it doesn't sustain my interest. So hopefully I'm hitting the target as far as balancing it all.
I definitely don't have a broad reference of MK sprite strips, but I was pretty surprised even looking through The Kombat Pavilion briefly that there didn't seem to be much in the way of Ermac gags.
Glad you picked up on the 'warm' bit, too. Nothing huge, but trying to get what I can in there. I do beat it over the head in the future, just to make sure everyone got it.
And seriously... Don't give me that 'depth perception' crap.
The Masked Warriors are SHORT!
KANG #29
Synopsis: Mortal Kombat kontinues!!!
After defeating Sub-Zero, Scorpion just kinda disappears, doesn't he?... OR DOES HE?!
Kang continues to shock the Mortal Kombat world by canonizing for the first time, many previously unknown FACTS about the Mortal Kombat story.
