The tournament will begin once everyone has submitted a complete concept. A few people, such as slim, do not have updated bios for their respective characters. I will allow a bit more time for these entrants to complete their concepts... as a battle against an incomplete character would not be fair. My goal at this time is contacting these people so that we may begin this tournament as soon as possible.

Err... Am I needing to update my character before this starts? Because I'm pretty happy with the way she is now...

Or am I just not paying attention and it's already started?

It hasn't started and I suppose updating your character is optional. If you don't want to update it or think it's finished and ready to go then it's ready to go...

I will be sending out the character update deadline notices today to all participants. I will include a copy of your current concept and allow you to read over it thoroughly. If you wish to change is at this point, you will be allowed to do so. Anyone who does not respond before the deadline is reached will simply be forced to enter with an incomplete concept.

Okay, I luckily managed to load this site, thanks for informing about the deadline Crow, it is a bit hard to keep getting new and new updates and updating the site everytime, so hopefully that'll end soon.

Also needed to mention this to the new contestants who haven't participated before, you'll need to get used to the not so quick movement of this tournament, because of the gathering of the votes by all judges and updating the site, etc.

Hopefully this will be much easier in the future and will move much quicker.

This message is to inform you of the true beginning of the Create-a-Character tourament. All participants have been notified that the tournament will begin February 8th, 2005. Concepts must be completed and submitted to me by February 7th, 2005. This deadline also applies to your "world ruler" judge character. Remember that you should design your character in a sub-boss fashion. Your character should be powerful enough to defeat the characters in your "realm" with ease. You will be facing these characters, so be certain he/she can defeat the ordinary entries.

Awards Setup

This tournament will have a large number of dragon point awards. Here is a breakdown of what can be won here:

Basic awards

All entrants: 2 dragon points for entering a concept
All judges: 2 dragon points for giving adequate input.

Early world awards

Top ranking character in each world: 2 dragon points
Character who defeats sub-boss once or more: 1 dragon point

Tournament awards

Character who defeats a character with a lower seed: 1 dragon point
Character who defeats a character with a higher seed: 2 dragon points
Final 8 characters: 2 dragon points
Final 2 characters: 3 dragon points
Winner: 5 dragon points

As you can see, the winning character is very likely to receive a large number of dragon points. I don't feel this is unnecessary, as I have a great desire to involve the ratings system much more than it is at this moment.

Crow,I have one question. What do you mean by beating someone of a higher seed? And how do you qualify as a higher seed?

Each 'world' will have eight characters. Think of these 'worlds' as divisions. You will face each character in your world once and gain a record. After you have faced everyone at once you'll face your world's judge and the sub-boss character. That too will go on your record giving each world a "standings". All characters will finish between 8-0 and 0-8. The character with the best record will receive a the first seed, the character with the second-best record will receive the second seed, and so on.
