Are you serious??!? MK Conquest ending *SPOILER ALERT*
Seriously....Earthrealm falls?? Everyone dies INCLUDING the main characters?!?!? Raiden is made Shao Khan's bitch?!?!
What the fuck is this? I just finished the series tonight because it's all on youtube. I loved the show up until the ending...i still can't believe it. I am in shock...
Please, someone explain to me, what the fuck!?!?
Maybe there was supposed to be a season 2? And it turned out that Kung Lao, Siro, and Taja were going to be resurrected somehow?!?! But there was no money in making Season 2????!?!
Someone explain this bullshit to me!

Well, i understand it's your opinion that it was a great ending...i just can't agree with that.
To me, the ending was weak sauce. It felt rushed and illogical in millions of ways...i'm still very disappointed with the ending because it left me shocked. I had to sleep on it but i'm still very surprised. I could totally understand if the sole reason behind the ending was because there was going to be a second season that never happened. I'm sure, if a second season was made, that they would've brought some good guys back and kicked ass...

You are facing the frustration that i have been facing for nine long years...
Anyway, the fact that the good guys are all killed, and evil triumphs, really took the series to a higher place. You don't see something like this everyday.

I understand the ending might've gotten the show more attention and all...and took it to new heights..but still, the ending was rushed and very very illogical in my opinion. You really feel a connection with the three main characters and Raiden the whole show, and then you see the end and it kicks you in the balls (if you were, like me, in love with the good guys.)
But all in all it was a great series to me. And i have no problem with Khan winning at least once...but for him to just kill off everyone and that's it is lame to me.
Like i said, if there was a season 2, then i'm sure it would've brought back the Earthrealm warriors and they would've at least put up some kind of fight and, most likely, win.

If you check out this article, it is hinted that if the second season was made, the probable explanation for the abrupt ending of the first one, was that the two last episodes of season one (the ones in wich everybody dies, and Kahn takes the cake) were merely one of Kung Lao's dreams (more like a Nightmare..) created by his tormented visions.

Read the article, things are clearer now. A lot of interesting stuff went down that i didn't know about...but it made me feel better to know that it possibly was one of Kung Lao's visions.
Thanks for that article, it helped a lot.

this has been argued many times. It was no dream. It was all very real. I read interviews from the producers long ago during the year the aired sayingthat it was no dream. And that the original idea was to tie the series with a second season with the movies but for whateva reason they decided to not do a second season and end the show with Outworld crumbles everyone and Kahn is the ultimate victor and ruler supreme of all reality

actually is not that hard retcon everything with the 1992 MK tournament.
did you forget that Rayden tactic was to let ake to shao kahn a false step and break the holy rules of elder gods?
Shao Kahn conquered earthrealm,he didn't win the Tournament so his conquest is illegal.
Now rayden will be set free from elder gods, shao kahn will be punished with his demoiac aspects from MK 2 official comic book(missing in MKconquest,he seems like a common bald human guy with a mask) and he have to wait until the next ten MK tournament.
to conquer earthrealm he needs his old warriors, and will resurrect reptile, shang tsung, kitana herself brainwashing her(after all in the tv series she was also shao kahn's lover),etc.
Quan CHi will be resurrected by shinnok in a side-story,and all the original characters like kreeya, kiri, ankha, etc will be replaced by new ones.
it's logical.
i loved that ending.

The MK Comics dont connect wit the show so that doesn't count to anything
At the end of the day, it WAS the ending of the show, it wasn't Kung Lao's dreams, and nobody got resurrected by either the Elder Gods or Omegis. Period.
Personally, I was around the mortalkombat.com forums a lot back in the day, and we had contact with Kung_Lao or KungLao or whatever, who was an insider who worked for the website, and season 2 revealing that the ending to season 1 was Kung Lao's dreams was NEVER ever mentioned at all, and it seems like the most bullshit cop out twist they could do - I don't think it would ever be the way season 2 would start.
Regardless, I loved the ending to MKC. Were there plot holes and things not making sense? Yeah, but that's the case for pretty much every episode of MKC.

they were probably ending season one on a cliffhanger to get more people to tune into season two to see what happens next.
I mean, If they brought the show back and season two was going to air tomorrow, how many of you would watch just to see what happens after that last episode?

Good point. I just want an official statement or reason why the show wasn't able to come back...
Did they not have any money? Not enough fans? The producers didn't feel it's worthy enough to continue? That's one of the things i'm wondering about.

It's already been said tons of times. To be honest though, I'm not sure I remember the full story right now.
They needed a new network because TNT or wherever it was on didn't want the show anymore. The Sci Fi Channel wanted the show, but Threshold (I think specifically Larry Kasanoff, tthough again, I'm really not sure) didn't want the deal because they didn't feel MKC was Sci Fi.
If anyone wants to correct me, go ahead because again, I'm not 100% sure that's what happened.
Hey man, I'm always pissed at shows where my favorite character dies, and I'm tormented for a while. Good examples of this are
L in Death Note
Auel in Gundam SEED Destiny
Zaku Abumi in Naruto
Zazie the beast in Trigun
Bankotsu in Inuyasha (I never really liked the show, but after this I NEVER watched again)
to list a few
But on topic, I loved the ending. I always think in shows, How is it the good guys win?! Logically, in their situation, they would die trying. I'm glad it ended this way, one of my favorite TV show/movie endings ever

Well, heres the Real reason:
Bruce Locke who played shang Tsung had in an interview that i read said that there was a second season planed and ready to go was greenlit and everything. , but that it got too expensive . The ratings were actually pretty good for this show.
In the end, it was a money issue.
Take it for what its worth, but this was straight from bruce locke.. heres some other information i was able to find.
The series originally aired on the WB Network and was later picked up by Turner Network Television, which aired the remaining new episodes as well as broadcasting the previous ones in syndication. The show was very popular, but according to the show's developer, Joshua Wexler, this resulted in higher budget costs for the show than anticipated. The cancellation was not announced at first and rumors of a second season circulated. However, TNT pulled the plug on the show leaving it with a cliffhanger ending. It was said that the last two episodes were a dream Kung Lao had, making what happened not true. The cliffhanger ending would have been resolved in the second season, which would have summed up the series and corresponded with the MK timeline.

That's a good idea They should bring back The MK Tv series. I think it would be rather popular considering how popular MK really is.
But my idea is start it completely over from Scratch and User the more popular MK Characters.
Liu Kang,Raiden,Sonya Blade,Johnny Cage,Styker,Kitana,Sindel,Mileena,Reptile Shao Kahn,Tshang sung,Quan Chi,Goro Etc
I think that would be awesome. Liu Kang is Kung Lao's Decendant so there for Kung Lao would be dead by now anyway
Have The Pilot like going along the same lines as the first movie with Raiden recruiting the warriors of earth realm and Liu Kang Freeing Kitana from Tshang Sung and Then Kitana would go in search of her mother sindel and attempt to free her from Shao Kahn with the help of Liu Kang.
Johnny Cage and Stryker and the others go on there mission with Raiden.
Sonya Blade and her thing with Kano
Tshang Sung and Shao Khan team up forminh the Deadily in which they aquire the help of Quan Chi and Qaun Chi Being the evil sorcerer he is can resurrect Goro and Sheeva and Scorpion and a number of others.
as they are defeated in the Movies kind of tie the series in with the movies.
add in aspects of the game as well.
not bad if i say so myself.

No, not bad. Fucking horrible. That is so wrong on so many levels considering the character biographies that it is not even funny.

Basically what almost everyone is saying is true. But the thing about it being a dream is far from True
