Recently I've been made aware that one of my "script leak" posts from this site made its way to Reddit recently and a long conversation sprouted. In this conversation I am finding a ton of misinformation that had nothing to do with my hint: https://www.reddit.com/r/Mortalkombatleaks/comments/lbu0bd/from_someone_who_had_the_leaked_scripts/

This is my official response to this:

I will gladly clarify any hints to a script leak I have posted after these this condition has been met: After @Bran does his planned comparison of the film to the scripts. I'll even go in-depth into with my own clarifications so long as you quote me and I will do my best to recall what I was thinking when I made that hint, but keep in mind, my hints reflect ONLY the leaked scripts, and usually the November 2018 draft, so it's very possible the actual answer to my hint doesn't even show up in the final film. Also note that some of my hints are puzzles, they may contain half-truths that reveal some things and were meant to confuse you or to throw you off to keep the film a surprise - what I call a clever take on words. One hint I barely remember mentioning was a car chase. I'm pretty sure I actually said "car chase" but, as you found out in one of the many released TV spots, a car is speeding and in fast pursuit. So a car is being chased. But who chases the car? Was it another car... or something else? I'm not telling until the Script Leaker talks first! Also if I got something completely wrong I will address that when it is time.

Which Brings Me to This:

Following this post, I came to a sad and sickening truth another MK Superfan, known as the MK Movie Script Leaker and as @Bran on this site, has been getting attacked by other fans, some going as so far as to doubt the script leaks and suggest he wrote them.

I am calling bullshit to this and making the suggesting that these fans stop attacking either of us (yes I have been attacked on here over the last 10 years from time to time but nothing like he's getting over at Reddit).

Why am I defending him? Because he's actually new to the MK Kommunity, as far as I know and I feel he provides a lot of legitimacy. We go about things differently and treated our copies of the leaked scripts differently as well. And I feel, being established myself and even acknowledged on here by the founder, I should defend him. Think of it as my way of passing the torch to someone else who will be benefiting the MK Kommunity. Plus I want this on record, so for the people who have to screenshot everything, make sure you screenshot this address.

The most current leaked draft is November 2018. The film just recently got an R rating, this month I believe, which means it's complete. There are definitely changes as many articles have confirmed a Scorpion and Sub-Zero fight scene both at the beginning and end of the film; the opening scene specifically being the new one added. We also have seen parts of it, it perverses most of the marketing materials, more so than any other characters, despite Scorpion/Sub and their original human names are just a part of the story.

Much of the trailers have coincided with the November 2018 script draft. I;m not going to tell you what, he will when it is time and then I will follow up and expand if I have to, because first and foremost I am an archivist so I am more focused on archiving the past then the present anyway and by that time it will be the past. Not only that but many of the interviews from cast and crew have also coincided with the leaked draft. How could a fan write fan fiction that well? He didn't - because these scripts were written AND formatted by professionals.

Each PDF file contains file properties that explain the source. While this could be faked, having worked on films with Hollywood talent, one being A-lister Kathryn Newton, I know what a professional script looks like and how one reads and no fan, unconnected to the production, could write that professionally. The properties point to that the PDFs were generated by Greg Russo and the title for the November 2018 draft was actually "Mortal Kombat - 3rd Budget Rewrite.fdx" with a completed date of 11/23/2018 and at 99 pages. The properties for the 2016 script showed a plain MK title, also saved from the user "Greg Russo," complete 8/5/2016 with 105 pages. Both were completed in the professional scriptwriting software, Final Draft (which I happen to own) and both were completed on a Mac OS X 10.7.5 Quartz.

The title pages vary. On the 2018 script, only Greg Russo was listed as the sole author. But on the 2016 script, Greg Russo isn't listed as the author - but of one revisionist. The actual author on the 2016 script was credited to Oren Uziel using the simple "by" byline, as we screenwriters call it. Then, these names were listed under "revisions by": Randall Wallace, John Swetnam, and Dave Callaham, all four (because Russo was credited like this too) got their own reviseby lines, cluttering up the title page.

At no time did I ever doubt @Bran and at no time will I ever doubt him. Add not only to the released promotional materials - from press release, to synopsis, to posters, to trailers and even tv spots, and especially interviews, and social media postings (even unofficial by cast/crew) and BOOM, there is more strength in not doubting him.

By the titles, since the 2018 draft is the 3rd Budget ReWrite, it is unconfirmed what the second and original drafts are and if they even exist. Was the 2016 the original script penned by Oren Uziel the second Budget ReWrite and it just so happens not to include it in the title, and then Oren having an unknown first draft? We don't know and unfortunately script drafts are very hard to get, even after the film is released, so like the original films, we will likely never have all the drafts.

What I do no like is the bullying of those of us who seek to help the Kommunity in the best way possible without ruining the movie but at least prepping you to understand the changes - and yes, they are not easy to understand or accept and it does seem every time the cast and crew speaks they dig themselves a bigger hole. Thankfully in 1995 we had to actually pay for our movie news, unfortunately we are flooded constantly with MK movie content, being it from interviews or BTS from the cast and crew themselves. We had much, much smaller amounts of data to comprehend. Because these magazines cost - whether it was us just going to a magazine counter and just reading the magazine in store (it cost physical time and effort to do that) or subscribing to magazines like GamePro or EGM that spilled the beans every other month or so leading up the movie in 1995, or what have you, we weren't overwhelmed with content. 'Less is more" clearly doesn't apply to many fans. "More means more" is the motto today. Once this film comes out, if it's a success, fans will want more. Could we get 12+ movies over the next 20 years as a Universe? God I hope not as I can't believe MK has even survived this long. I'd hate to see it last beyond my own death but I see it doing so. Anyway, don't shoot the messengers. Thankfully the hate on this site has dwindled down now that the official content has dropped and people have made their decisions to tune in or tune out moving forward. Whatever your decision, don't take out your frustrations on us. And if you must do so with the cast and crew, do so respectfully and make sure your responses are well researched. Don't just waste time and cause feelings asking "Why isn't [this or that character in the movie]" especially WAY BEFORE the damn movie is even out. Those of us with the leaked scripts only know what is given to us. Usually we're not privy to "the first 13 minutes" of a movie, a screener copy, or an advanced screening. We're the behind the scenes guys, we gave out the basis of the info other are using in trying to help themselves. I see a lot of bloggers STILL SPOILER THE LEAKED SCRIPTS when speculating on what they see, i.e. "is this character [spoiler] or is this character [spoiler]" without using any original speculation. Guess what? They either got the leaked scripts or they watched the leaked script videos and ran with it. We're all excited for this, almost every day I am searching for interviews or what have you about this film in addition to adding to posts or talking about the new official content released. I get frustrated and often irate pretty easily anymore. But I am very pissed when fellow SuperFans are attacked just because other fans don't like what we say when we're just reporting on what we saw and note that it may not be that way in the film. We will all know everything once the film is released, one way or another. So, for the grace of the Titans and Elder Gods, don't throw your shade towards us or any other SuperFan for that matter.

Woah, people are bashing me? I feel honored.

Btw, I've actually been here since this site originally existed as MK5.org. My original account is lost, but have always either been a member or a lurker.

I remember lurking on the site since MK5.org too and meeting Scott Howell in a Statistics course we took together. But I don't think I had an account until much later.
