Sorry to make you MK Conquest fans, but if you really think it through, Conquest didn't really do justice to Mortal Kombat.
I mean, changing the !!!REAL!!! MK storyline so damn much was such bullshit. I mean, bloody hell, they say that Scorpion got all his powers after being bitten by a magic scorpion, for Christ's sake ! And if I read the Conquest "story" right, they say that Scorpion wasn't Hanzo Hasashi, but Takeda himself ! Utter crap ! I also saw a scene where Scorpion gives orders to the Shirai Ryu to assassinate Sub-Zero, but the Shirai Ryu were all killed by the murderous Quan Chi after the 5th Sub-Zero killed Scorpion. And I never saw it covered anywhere how Scorpion had a wife and child, and that his true mission is to destroy Quan Chi for his cowardly murder of Scorpion's family, and thus accomplish an Act of Justice, proving that Scorpion was in truth a noble and honorable warrior.
Instead, they make Scorpion look like a selfish, power-hungry mercenary, and make Sub-Zero the 5th look heroic, while he was in truth a merciless, cold-hearted murderer who completely deserved his violent death at the hands of Scorpion in MK1. It is only his younger, living brother, Sub-Zero the 6th who is heroic.
So you see, I'm not surprised at all that it was cancelled after 22 episodes.
