Now that NRS is a part of WB Games, could DC or Vertigo or Wildstorm make new MK comics based on the new timeline?
They could do prequel storylines like
-why Sonya's father died,
-the life of the Sub-Zero brother after being abducted
- the war between Rayden and Shinnok
-Could they do an story between MK 9 and 10 on having things like Quan Chi rebuilding the undead good guys, Earthrealm being rebuilt by Rayden, Cage and Sonya.
-Perhaps the old universe colliding with the new universe?
- A comic sequel to MK vs DC?
- Since Marvel and DC did it, a gender reversed MK universe?
Or would they not sell as much?

It'll make sense since comic reboots seem to be the rage (The Shadow has been given a comic reboot) but like any trend it's only a money maker for that period. Recall how many years people went without knowing about Batman until the '90s version of Tim Burton's Batman? Best way to determine this is to look at sales figures for current reboot comics. Last I recalled the little "Nostalgic era" we faced in 2005-2010ish didn't last long and Hollywood reboots are not usually bringing in any more money.

If they did, I would rather have the classic timeline.

The most we'll ever get is miniseries that tie into and promote game releases, like we're getting with Injustice.
Since WB now owns Mortal Kombat, the only company that could publish an MK book is DC, because WB owns them, but Marvel and DC don't do licensed stuff as ongoings because it's not terribly profitable. The medium is kinda dying, or at least has been in a serious downswing for the past decade or so, and the Big 2 have become extremely corporate, to the point where they really only publish the comics they do to keep the IPs warm for when they're ready to make a TV show or movie that'll make the real money for them.
The only companies that really care about doing interesting, long-running books with outside-licensed material are the indies like IDW with Transformers, GI Joe, Ghostbusters, and Star Trek, or Dark Horse with Buffy and Star Wars...and those Star Wars books might not last too much longer now that Disney owns it.

If they did come back, there are things I wanna see....
- How Kano manipulated the Special Forces and how he got his cyber eye
- How Kabal left the Black Dragon
- Sonya's father
- Romance between Liu & Kitana
- Raiden vs Shinnok
- Sub-Zero to Noob Saibot & Tundra to Sub-Zero
