What if the new Sub-Zero was actually Sektor, since he's the new Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei what if the Dragon Medallion gives Sektor freezing abilities!

That Sub-Zero render is one hell of a disguise, then, considering Sektor is still a cyborg.

Yeah but the last time we saw Sektor he was indeed a cyborg but what if during the 25 year time span, the medallion starts freezing his robotic armor causing it to glitch and he has to restore his humanity and after he does that, the medallion turns into a half human, half Cryomancer.

A sad farewell to his classic abilities then. Is Sektor interesting without rockets, teleportation and flamethrowers?

The question: is Sektor interesting with all the aforementioned stuff?

Personally I think cyborgs ninjas was a glorious misstep in MK3.

Another person who doesn't put MK3's newcomers on a pedestal?

The whole theory of having this Sub-Zero be Sektor is not going to work. One of you said "what if the medallion gave him freezing powers?" No, the medallion never gave Sub-Zero new powers, it just enhanced his, so why would it all of a sudden give Sektor new abilities?

Not to mention, making Sektor become Sub-Zero is basically destroying an already popular character just to make room to have this character make sense as to why he's human again. Not to mention, there hasn't been anything said that could reverse the whole cyborg process. There's absolutely no way that theory would work, even if you try to make it sound reasonable.

I'm still going to consider this Sub-Zero be a cousin since Boon mentioned that there's cousins in this game... That and he doesn't look old to me at all, even though the only thing we can see are his eyes.

When I joined in 2004-5 I was one of the few people who wanted to chainsaw Boon's bollocks off for some of the later disappointments. MK4 to be precise, that game is ugly, underdeveloped and horribly coded.

I know you want MK to be purely a kung fu flick themed game, but I quite like that the MK team expanded the world by putting other elements into the game as well, such as the sci-fi of cyborg ninjas.

Well not exactly.

I do favour the oriental side of Mk but that does not mean I want to get rid of Nightwolf or Kotal Kahn.

The cyborgs clash waay too much, and I do not really like the superhero aspect they began putting into MK in MK3. I am not against cyborgs, I am against the Inspector Gadget-type fully armoured motorcross cyborgs we got.

I love cybernetics, i adore Robocop, loved Robocain and Ed 209 since I saw those films, but in MK? When I was 15 years old it was quite obvious that ordnance such as Sektor/Cyrax would make fighting a moot point.

And I generally loathe the fantasy gun control trope that says barak for some reason can shrug off bullet shots, that is what i liked about Mk9, they purposefully retained that balistic weapons beat kung fu.

TLDR - >

Robocop like mechanical fighters break immersion, verisimilitude to the canon world, and generally are goofy.

Cyberninjas could work: basic humans in exoskeletal armor plating, and remove the cranes, internal missile batteries and robot stuff from them and actually make USE OF THE CONCEPT that they are mechanized INFILTRATORS not frontline contact warmachines.

I have no idea who I'm actually quoting here due to all the responses, but you do realize that it was due to time, budget, and '90s technology that the cyborgs had the "motocross" look in MK3, right?

Then they would be just humans in funky armor / with implants, which makes them no different from many regular human fighters in MK (especially Jax and Kano). MK cyborgs were exactly made that way to be different from the rest of the cast and to have moves physically / technically unavalable for the rest of the fighters. There was a purpose in their gameplay design and it was nailed perfectly, starting from their first appearance.

As for the "MK cyborgs being one-man army" thing, a lot of characters in MK characters could be qualified like that: Sub-Zero, Ermac, Smoke (any incarnation).

P.S.
Tobias initially planned to include cyborgs in MKII. The idea was development of another concept - about armor possesing people. (src: his Twitter).
Have a nice day.

There is a way around the lawsuit issue they can make the characters from the comics movies and what not guest fighters for one game only that wouldn't hurt right?

Some one help me on this and please no smart remarks.

You know, if it is a new Sub this time around and they pull another "my codename was Tundra before I took up the mantle" except this time said codename was 'Hydro' - which they could probably get away with - Sure, fine.

But rights issues aside, there's no way in hell another water-based ninja would take off in any form when even Rain struggles to find a fanbase after two solid appearances. It's just not a necessary concept. No hate.

Yeah, I don't think water is cool any more.

Guest characters are subject to the same licensing agreements.

But wasn't Hydro on Legacy? Wouldnt that mean they probably CAN use him?
I still hope they don't, if there is something we don't need is more ninjas, either cyborg or any other kind, but stil...

If it is a relative, I wish it is their nephew. They were supposed to have a sister living in the states, right?

Man I was hoping that they could in the future but not in this game though. I always wonder what it would be like to play as Vapor, Sylence, and characters such as Oniro and Komodai. With Mortal kombat totally reinventing itself I'm still left to wonder.

On the Hydro thing he doesn't has to be even
associated with the Lin quei. He could've been created by the god Suijin to represent his world in MK thus his cybernetic suite could've been something to substain his aquatic body.

His foes: Aqua who I felt should be a Kappa like being

His moves based upon freezing and hot water.

See how easy it is to revamp him. Man I wish WB would win this issue. Are they still on this issue.

No issue to be on top of. Ownership clear, nobody cares. There'd have to be an interest in using the characters, and while fans might appreciate the history behind them - that history has nothing to do with the games. Game makers better off (and probably happier) coming up with their own new characters, similar or otherwise. Revamping for revamp's sake is pointless when they're fine inventing their own fully realized characters.

Created in-house, licensed for the show. Just a curiosity of timing.
