Found that on IGN.com. It says that WB are in talks with writer Oren Uziel for the reboot.

Yeah, I just saw that article. hopefully they will make a big (or at least a decent size) budget movie. They should learn from SF movie mistakes and expand on what made the 1st movie good.

you know the studio will cash in Tekkan, Street Fighter style......

We'll never get anything the scale of the first film, let alone something we actually want.

I hope that they will make it big budget...Damn, this is WB after all...If THEY don't make it big budget then...who?

I don't think it needs to be big budget. The first Movie was done for $25 Million. At most, I'd double it. I doubt a lot of the general audience cares for the Mortal Kombat franchise anymore. And I'm sure fans want it to be rated R. So if it would be a big budget movie, you could forget the movie ever being rated R, since it would be too much of a risk.

Keep it small, make it gritty and aim it at a niche audience.
