I dont thnk it "needs" to be rated R persay, I just think the movie needs to have more depth to it, a good story, and some decent action, i just get sick and tired of seeing movies that should be good suck out becuase (in order to atract a "younger audiance") the entire movie is based on blowing stuff up and bad acting

Yeah it would be nice to see a mortal kombat movie that is more like the games, but it's not like we have the power to change any of it *sigh*

winkwow i don't thank it realy matters in todays movies just for the fact that some pg-13 movies have more of an exploseve content then an R rated movie. and i thant that it would be best if thay found someone that has a vary creative mind, beacuse thay just need to stick to the storyline but make it more enterresting, even with the bad actingsmilesmile

Better not be PG-13
This movie needs the gore and the violent fight scenes for it to work

I agree that it does need violent fight scenes and some gory deaths (even if it's extras just added as cannon fodder) to capture the authentic "feel" of the MK games. But I have a bad feeling that it won't. Doing this, the marketing men (who are mre concerned with profit than authenticity) stand to lose a lot of money that the kids/younger teens would bring in.

It's a classic way of trying to make more money following up a successful movie rated 15/18/R/whatever equivalent other countries have. Lower the rating to bring in the kids who saw it on video. For example, Terminator 2, the rating was lowered, and it was a far bigger box office success.

The next MK movie doesn't need to be rated R. The first movie was just fine without a R rating. And besides that, having a R rating would restrict the younger audience from seeing the film, which you know they don't want to do. Bigger audience equals more money for them. But regardless of that, I think well choreographed fights (more like the first film), good storyline, and good acting are enough to make a good MK film. If they make it bloody just for the sake of being bloody, then they have the wrong focus. The games are bloody, yes, but it's unnesessary for the movies. It's really not that big a deal in my opinion.

Ummm pg-13 is teens and adults

They are not going to make it rated R. That would take away from a large portion of the movie going audiance. If it is PG-13 they will get all the kids with disposable income to go see it and make more money.
mr_skeg you r disgusting, and darkpitai i hope ur joking, R stands 4 restricted, and i agree with jason rainwater and this last reply by whoever posted it. it should b PG-13 cz they would make a lot less $$$

I used to think It NEEDED to be rated R as well. But that's not how it works. The movies are rated AFTER they are made. I think they should focus on making it a damn good story, then focus on making the fight scenes kick-ass and THEN focus on the blood which is also important. If the producers say that it's gonna be rated R, then so be it. They shouldn't hesitate.

yes but what about the younger children who then wont be able to see it
but it will probably make no difference over here it was a 15(you have to be 15 or older) so saying that yes it should be r rated
Please refrain from bumping threads of this age.

And why should be the "younger children" be interested in a movie about an adult game?

(Not really serious, I was like 12 when I was playing MK1 for a first time.)

They're interested because most kids start playing the MK games at 9, 10, and 11 years old. That is why they want to see the movie.
