Yup, but if they're already playing a illegal (for their age) game, what's problem with seeing an exactly not legal movie about the said game?

It's the same thing, nothing more.

for some reason I think that the movies should focus on the storyline, not the gore. Infact, leave the blood factor on the first movies level.

I say that they should focus on writing a good story first. Then out of that story write a good script. Get a good director with vision to direct the actors, this way he/she will get their best performences. You don't actually need blood the make a good movie. Just look at the first MK movie and then look at MKA. You see the difference. If you have to put blood and fatalites in the movie then make sure that they work and don't look like a big mess. Like the stupid animalites in MKA. Don't worry about the rating just make a good movie first. If it's rated R then so be it. You'll get the adult audience which is the real Mortal Kombat audience since the games are all Mature rated. If it's PG-13 then you'll just maximize your profits. Either way it's a win-win situation but only if you focus on the movie.

I'm agreeing w/ everyone who stated that it should have a good story line. If it doesn't have a good story line, then all the blood will be pointless even in the movie, but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be blood in the movie. Also i believe as well that there should be some good fatalities in the new movie.

Why do they try to get a younger audience when there target audience is adults for the games because the game is not for kids, why make the movie for kids it makes no sense.

I say fuck the gore. Do not succumb to mindless show of violence. MK was never about true gore, nor brutal violence, bt more like subtlety. I say MK is lightyears from being a gory game. Check Thrill Kill, it puts MK to shame (no overspiralised fatalities, it look real and hideous, not like some jerky toasty where a guy pulls off a mask to reveal a skull)

This movie needs a definite storyline resembling the games,
a more adulted scriptbook
and proper show of drama

The MPAA, honestly, is bullshit, and rather political.
There have been a lot of PG-13 movies more violent than R movies, with no other 'objectionable' content, just because of who's in the MPAA at the time, or the theme. Compare the remake of The Manchurian Candidate with most PG-13 action movies and you should see what I mean.

So, what I think this thread is really about, is should or shouhld not the movies be gory. In the MK games, people bleed when it's likely they would bleed; being punched or kicked hard in the face, stabbed, cut, or harpooned. MK's never been needlessly Gory, it's just been realistic. The fatalities have been the only very gory, and, when you look back on them, most of them aren't really anything that couldn't be just as cool looking without showing the gore, through clever film cuts.

From a marketing and authenticity standpoint, probably what would be best would be release a less-bloody version to theatres, then a fully MK-leveled movie ('Director's Cut') on DVD, so that more people could see and buy the movie, but 'purists' who absolutely do not believe it is MK without fully-shown fatalities can have their movie, too.

Now im thinking about it, and i could be wrong, was there any red "blood" in the first movie? Yes people were beaten stabbed and exploded and what not but the only "blood" i recall was when liu kang popped shang in the mouth and there was a little trickle. So if im right i definatly hope they imrpove upon that issue
