Some good and bad news.
4:41 PM MST - Shinnokxz
Firstly, the bad news. Paul Anderson will not direct. I suppose a deal could not be struck between him and Threshold. But after the massacre of a film that Alien vs. Predator was, who would want this guy to touch Mortal Kombat again?
INSTEAD, I am glad to announce that Russell Mulcahy will direct. If the name does not ring a bell, he directed the first cult-classic Highlander movie while Christopher Lambert starred in it. It was a very violent film, so you might expect the next MK movie to take a more violent tone this time around.
Also, Christopher Lambert said he personally approves of the script. And yet again, the movie will supposedly start shooting in the UK this November.

Holy crap, that's awesome. With two Highlander related people involved already......all they need now is Clancy Brown to make an appearance to be a nostalgia-type thing. Quan Chi perhaps? Fanboy wishing.

The original Highlander was a good movie, so I'm actualy happy to hear Anderson is not directing it. Shooting starts in November, We shouldn't see it til 06 then...

Nooooooo... I think maybe Fall '05. And I think that's a good strategy. It will get lost in the summer movies race of July and August. September or early October will be a great time to put it out where there won't be blockbusters to go up against it. I hope that the budget isn't too large where the movie can't make it's production budget back within at least a month. This way it's guaranteed to make a profit of some kind.

Russell Mulcahy?!?! Holy fuck, this is much better than Paul Anderson! I can't believe it! The man behind Highlander, this is fucking great! Only starts shooting November, though? Well, hopefully it will in fact start shooting November, instead of getting delayed again. Great news, Cory! Thanks a fucking billion, man! You bring sun to our lives, though I would still like to know who exactly is your source.
Actually, that would be cool, because Clancy Brown not only co-starred in Highlander with Lambert, he also did Rayden's voice for the Mortal Kombat cartoon series, if I'm not mistaken.

He has some genius one liners, "er excuse me guys, the er sky is falling,"

Where's the bad news? I loved the Highlander! If the same talent in creating that 'classic' is working on the MK3 movie, we can't lose.

the director needs to be from "crouching tiger, hidden dragon" or "hero".. now those are fighting movies.
