Maybe they might release MK 3 the movie around the same time as MK 6 the game...just to keep ppl interested in the series in case it dies down...do a matrix....after U finish MK6 they should show a trailer for MK3 the movie....It might bring in da big bucks for New Line, Midway, and whoever else....

it would also be useful to release trailer after MKDA is released. But they missed it.

If Midway or New Line would make a trailer, they would get sued.

How could New Line get sued if they are the ones who made the MK movies?

WHAT??? If you don't even know who's making the next movie, why do you want to comment on it?

Use your brain cells. You'll work it out eventually.

Anyway, IF MK3 comes out in 2004, it will coincide with MK6(I hope).

Yes, a little tie-in, either showing a trailer for MK3 as a MK6 extra, or a trailer for MK6 in the "Coming Attractions" part before MK3. It'll be big bucks probably for Midway and Threshold, but if anyone bothered to read the Josh Wexler chat on mk.com, he said they got the rights back from New Line, so New Line has no rights anymore, and there isn't any news if they got the rights back, so the site hasn't updated for 2 YEARS!

Anyways it should coincide like mk(movie) coincided with MK3(game). MK became very popular during that time, hopefully it will happen again.

New Line is the distributor of the first MK movie.
You can go here and find out yourself.

No I think it is destiny!!!!!!!!. I can remember when MK3 the arcade promoted MK the movie and the movie promoted the MK3 game. That is why both MK3 and the 1st MK movie were such success( of course MK3 good on its own). 10 years later we will find history repeating itself. I bet we will see some kind on tie in to both movie and MK6 game. I myself can't wait for both of them. MK6 with another MK and online feature and MK3 the movie shaping up with a much better script and cast than the 2nd and just as good as the 1st, the year 2004 will be the year of Mortal Kombat once again!!!!!!!!!!!! >:D

Well they didnt really fuck things up. The movie is a different story from the games, it just draws from the games. Kind of like the Street Fighter movie. Thats what I don't understand. People always complain that Street Fighter sucked because it didnt even follow the game. Its because its meant to be its own little universe, a part from the games.

That movie sucked ass in every possible way, not just because it was so unfaithful to the source material.

Thing is, when people are fans of a certain franchise, they like it because it is what it is. When they go see the movie version, of course they're going to be upset if the storyline is contrary to the source material or the characters' origins are wrong. When you make a movie based on an existing license, you should stick to the story that license has already set up, not just take some ideas from it and pile them into a half-assed Van Damme movie. If you want to set up your own little universe, write an original script and don't base it on an existing license.

Obviously the film medium is different from the video game medium, so some parts of the story have to be changed in order for it to work as a movie narrative. But the changes in Street Fighter were too drastic, and mostly pointless too, because the movie was still shit. They may as well have stuck to the original storyline; that way even if the movie was still shit, at least the fans would've respected how faithful it was.

Imagine if, in the MK movie, Scorpion was a ballet teacher and Kano was a friendly fisherman who was in a loving relationship with his journalist girlfriend Sonya. People would've been pissed off, and rightly so. I say if you can't make a decent movie out of an existing franchise without changing major details, don't make the movie at all.
