Could I possibly add this movie to my cd collection as a reference to what really happened in the real mortal kombat? (I mean as opposed to keeping mortal kombat the game as a reference)
Is mortal kombat the movie a real or fake story, as what fans like to call cannon or noncannon...

Mortal Kombat 1 wasn't perfectly accurate in term of what happened In the game.Shang tsung enslaving Scorpion and Sub-zero didn't happen. They were rivals and would never work together.Even the ladder matches in MK1 they are never paired as a team. Kitana didn't appear until Mk2 so thats another error.Kano wasn't killed by Sonya and (as far as I know) Johnny cage didn't beat Goro.

Mortal Kombat is not a real story. Neither are the games.
But, now that I'm over your mis-use of words, I will answer the question you THINK you were making.
Nothing happened the way it happens in the MK movie. Johnny Cage did not become Mortal Kombat champion, Liu Kang did as he defeated Goro and then Shang Tsung. Scorpion killed Sub-Zero, Sonya did not kill Kano, and infact, I'm not sure they even fought. Shang Tsung obviously lived, along with everybody else except Sub-Zero, who was truly finished off by Scorpion, even though he'd later return as Noob Saibot.

i don't think it was suposed to follow the game it think they were just doing there own thing and if it were to follow the game everybody would no what happens from playing the game and that would be boring waching a movie when you already no whats going to happen
