Sorry guys, I filmed a video review and was planning to make a comeback but given the current state of affairs surrounding the MKII film and the potential impact of the new WB/Paramount merger I got overwhelmed and decided against releasing it.

.

However, this is my text-based review.

.

The 4K discs did NOT have any easter eggs and The Journey Begins was not present but was mentioned in the included booklet. You can still buy the original WB Bluray of the film with the animated prequel if you so choose.

.

The commentaries are very informative and were much needed. The producer commentary from the 1995 Laserdisc has not made an official release to date and likely won't since it was recorded with the film's audio.

.

The visuals and audio are stunning and make the films that much better. Yes, even Annihilation looks good.

.

The included booklet is packed with information and has MANY photos that were never seen on my site.

.

The included photo galleries on each disc ARE MASSIVE AND VERY HUGE RECOMMENDS FROM ME - and they included many photos from behind the scenes my site never included ( and I never knew they even existed).

.

The extra features are great if you've never seen them. But since I and many others (here's looking at you MKSecrets.net who always credits me - thanks for all you have done for MK media) have already released them from their original International sources, the featurettes and interviews are nothing new except for the Arrow-specific ones and those are great as well. It's nice to hear from some of the cast and crew and sad this happened way too late for Cary to had been involved. It's also nice to hear Christopher Lambert worked for free briefly to help get the movie finished, even I didn't know that! There are sooo may secrets released through the commentaries, photo galleries and interviews that the repetition of extra features isn't detrimental (most were in Standard def too). The 15 minutes featurette that appeared on laserdisc and VHs copies of The Journey Begins is also used as a vintage featurette.

.

The included posters were a nice touch. I loved the reversible sleeves because I hate the new artwork but it is what it is and I have a choice to use the originals. I also loved the case and caseslip.

.

I plan to buy the Bluray release when it comes down. The sale price for it seems to run the same price I paid for the 4K (I bought it on sale) and I'd like to check for easter eggs on those discs.

.

4.5 / 5 only because The Journey Begins, producer commentary, and TNT's Making the Dragon weren't included and frankly these all should have been.

STREET FIGHTER (2026) Insight

.

I am NOT a die-hardcore fan of Street Fighter like I am with 2D era MK games, I played it as a novelty as I did with other fighting games back then (I think I'm thinking of Streets of Rage as well) in the early 1990s and likely was a later updated version of SFII.

.

I LOVED the new Street Fighter film. I recognized the characters easily from their movie counterparts to their game counterparts. Unlike MKI and then MKII of this decade I felt the basic premise was more closer to what I knew about the games (since obviously fighting games were always lacking in story during the SNES era anyway).

.

I am a huge fan of the action, visuals, stories, plot and character design and LOVED that Mel Jarnson - who was SHAFTED as Nitara in MK(2021) played Cammy.

.

I LOVED the mix of animation as flashback sequences mixed with the present-day live action sequences. I don't know why and at first I was pissed because I thought I walked into the wrong movie but they worked very well.

.

I'm not understanding why video game fighting films are adding very heavy f3tish themes into them, especially as this one is rated PG-13. I get the fanfare - seeing Chun-Li in her famous shower scene from the animated SFII film in the 1990s was a decent throwback with a PG-13 twist but it was definitely very present to the point many actual articles online and even IMDB's Parent's Guide have picked up on them. MK eventually stepped into boundaries with some of their UMK3 costumes before edging in MK9 only to include h3ntai in MK11 (I never played MKX so I have no clue if anything was included) before becoming outed with focusing on underarms in the recent MKII (2026) film, to the point people have commented. I'm aware SF would later include some more female characters that were risque in their designs and of course Chun-Li and Cammy's hairstyles were always eye-catching. Don't get me wrong - I have nothing against these inclusions but I don't think they belong in a video game film where potentially parents are sharing this moment with their children who are already likely playing the games. I only hope that this is one of those films that is more attracted to "nostalgic-driven adults living out their childhoods" and that kids nowadays are focused on other things, otherwise that'd make for a weird and cringe theater viewing experience.

.

This film should have been R-rated and honestly focused on us nostalgic adults and hopefully one day the franchise adopts the level of violence MK is known for.

.

Mortal Kombat II, as a Mortal Kombat film, still sucks and always will. Street Fighter didn't pule a Cole Young out of their hat, they stuck to basics and made it better. Any added characters were minor and didn't heavily relay on the whole film being about them. Street Fighter makes for both a great video game fight film, a Street Fighter film, and a fight film in general; MKII is only a great fight film if you completely ignore its attempts to appease fans. I felt Street Fighter added a few easter eggs for fun but didn't god-forsaken fill the whole damn script with geekdom that only appeals to low-functioning autistic basement-dweller adults that MKII did. MK just needs a whole reboot and add the fantastic visuals and character designs with how Street Fighter accomplished where it failed.

.

I give this film a 4/5 because as a non-die hard fan I really enjoyed it and only a 4 because of it's PG-13 rating although they went really hard with this rating and also they included Cody Rhodes and frankly I'm tired of seeing/hearing him. At least they didn't include John Cena or I would have given it a 1 just so fan-boys can't say I gave it a "zero" so they can't play along with that stupid "you can't see me" trope.
