9News Official Coverage of the Premiere... and they refused admission to Matilda because she's under 18 and in Australia you must be 18 to watch this film. An 18 rating in Australia is equivalent to our NC-17 rating here in the USA. because in the USA an R rating means 17 and under can see the film with parental guidance aka permission from any adult BUT NC-17 says 18 and above only even if parents approve - https://twitter.com/9NewsAdel/status/1383709883099275265

Mk Aussie Premiere features Simon McQuoid, Josh Lawson, and Matilda Kimber, plus see lots of extras and the costumes on display! More will be shared throughout the week. Notably missing are Aussie residents Jessica McNamee and Sisi Stringer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bvzhnbv3_xk

It came out in Portugal today, so I finally got to see it. NO SPOILERS HERE AT ALL, but some quick thoughts.

I was definitely pleasantly surprised. It is crazy how faithful it is to the games' lore in many ways. Which makes Cole Young's inclusion extra mind boggling. How can they know so much about the games and then do this?! Every scene or even shot he's in feels like a separate movie. I really hope they manage to make him irrelevant for the sequel.

Kung Lao and Kano are massive highlights. As a Kung Lao player I was so happy with everything they did with him. Max Huang is fantastic in the role.

I really, REALLY hope they make a sequel. It was great, but it can be so much better, and I'm all here for it.

Glad to hear you liked it. The addition of Cole Young is definitely a controversial subject. I'm hearing a lot of praise for Kano and Kung Lao and also for Kabal and Sub-Zero.

I didn't like Cole either, but I dig the movie.

The only way to make up for Johnny Cage dying in the first minute of Annihilation is to kill Cole Young during the first 30 seconds of the sequel, or better yet, kill him off screen so we don’t waste screen time. :)

Also, kind of sad seeing this movie rated 62% so far on Rotten Tomatoes. I wonder if it’ll even have a chance at getting a sequel..... and I haven’t even seen it yet! All I know is Cole has unanimously been voted as a bad inclusion in the story and just makes everything clunky. I’ll be really irritated now having to sit through his scenes.

I had predicted that Kabal was going to be just a standard bad guy with no lines. I was completely wrong. Not only does he have lines and a personality, he's actually relevant to the story.

I will say that I wish they would've made it public that this movie takes place BEFORE The tournament. I have several friends who were disappointed by that, since they expected the tournament to happen during the movie.
