Ehh,... I don't really consider myself owned, it's not that important to me if they were made in the US or not. I first thought all seasons were made in Japan but then read somewhere that the first season was made in the US and the others because of the production costs in Japan. Someone mentioned IDT Entertainment ( the guys that did 'King of the Hill' ) I think.

Anyway, nice to know darklord. Thanks.

instead of yammering about wether this would be a good idea or a bad one, sit your yakkitty asses down in front of an art desk and draw the damn thing page by page yourself. then put it all together and post it for all to see.
then and ONLY THEN, will you know if it will actually be accepted. you know good and damn well that Midway will NEVER, EVER do what you all wish they would do. so simply do it your damn self. enough talk anime fans. more action. if i want talk, i will watch goverment funded television.

if your that passionate about this, then do it yourself.

I think I'm in a minority here on MKO, but I love anime and manga. A Mortal Kombat anime would be pretty cool, but I don't think it might ever be made, sadly.

Just their lip bleeding? WTF are you talking about? (NSFW)

Thanks for posting that man, that actually got me into the series, heh. I just finished it a few days ago and I must say, this is one of the best anime shows I have ever saw in my life, hope they make a sequel, its pretty much set up for one (well, the anime one atleast, the manga seems to have ended perfectly)

One of my FAVORITE anime works is Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. It kicked the holy hell out of the live action movie. And it was surprisingly realistic, gritty, and provocative. Basically, it was a game-to-film adaptation with balls. I can't even picture it being made today. "So Guile drops the F-bom? We see Chun-li's boobs? There's a lot of blood?" That in and of itself didn't make it a good anime. What made it good was how smooth it all flowed. To this day, this movie has some of the best fight scenes ever made, live action or not. It successfully made people think that they could do a spinning bird kick or shoryuken if they just practiced enough. It was the anti-DBZ fighter, where there was little talking and a lot of fighting. Realistic, gritty, fist-to-face fighting where "super" moves were rare and random.

Mortal Kombat could follow suit. It certainly has better story material to work off of. But, if you're ever to make a good MK film/series/cartoon, the fighting must come first, not the talking. DBZ, Naruto, 99% of most animes talk on and on to pad out the episodes... forget that. Give me some amazing fights and I'd be happy as can be.

Do you seriously think that some random person has the time, funds, or talent to traditionally draw the approximately necessary 30,000 frames needed for one episode? Productions don't work like that. "Do it yourself" is like teling someone who wants to make a blockbuster movie that they can when in reality it takes teams of hundreds, sometimes thousands.

My career is in animation and it's a tad more difficult than wishful thinking and even talent, if those rare few have it. Making anything, even flash animations, requires enormous amounts of time and skill. A Mortal Kombat anime, first of all, if made in America, would not be anime at all but rather anime-style, much like Teen Titans or Totally Spies.

The market for American properties in Japanese productions is actually rather high. Batman: The Animated Series was animated mostly by a team of artists in Japan, who later on made The Big O. The American comic Witchblade was recently animated as an anime. Lady Death was animated in Japan and touted as an anime. Considering there has been an anime for nearly every single major fighting game ever made (Virtua Fighter, Street Fighter, Tekken, Battle Arena Toshinden, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, etc.), I rather surprised they haven't picked up the franchise for one-and-done movie or OVA. Certainly, there are some serious Japanese Mortal Kombat fans overseas. I've seen the work of several of them (such as this comic book artist: Midwood Gallery

Anyway, so the capacity is there, and just become someone really wants an anime of Mortal Kombat doesn't mean they have the skill or resources to get it done. That's part of what makes us fans is that we thrive on wishful thinking and optimism. For example, I really wish they would remake Mortal Kombat: Mythologies as a Ninja Gaiden-esque action game... but I'm not going to try and build it from the ground up on my own either.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind a MK anime. It might be very well done and I would certainly give it a watch. Maybe eventually. We'll see.

Well guess what guy, telling people to make the animé themselves isn't going to do much either, believe it or not. What? Who the hell are you, anyway.

Street Fighter II the Animated Movie sucked balls, by the way. Alpha was much better.

Yeah, I'm not doing anything... except going to a media art and animation college so I can get an art degree and learn how to create 3D models and textures, animate them, program the physics engines, and ultimately learn all the skills necessary to become an important contributor to a video game team, something that I'll be learning how to do for the next two years. Between the 8 hours of homework per class and the stuff you're expected to do on your own, that doesn't amount to much free time.

Us fans ARE doing something. By simplying bringing up the topic, we are doing something. Debating about what would make a good film, video game, and anime are ultimately all parts of a greater whole, and a future game developer like myself reads these posts and takes to heart what to do and what not to do.

We're doing all we can. If you need further proof, look in my art gallery on this site and see the 3D models I've tested for a MK characters such as Sareena and Raiden.

at last, a fully thought out answer that also bares with it some proof.
thats all anyone could ask for. i dislike anime myself, but i would still find myself watching this "anime-mk" even so. initially, i believe midway should do more listening to the fans when it comes to their future games and media so none of us would have to worry about them capitalizing on cheap thrills for $50. believe me when i say, if i knew where to even begin on an anime-mk, even though i hate anime, i'd have took a crack at it ages ago.

Hey man, I'd totally be up for making this MK Anime thing. And, since you're so insistent on someone making this, I'm sure you won't mind funneling me $400,000 so I can get an episode made.

See, once I get your money, I'll get a whole team of artists together. We'll get a license from Threshold in order to start working, and then we'll do some animatics and storyboards and then ship it off to a team of animator's in Korea. Then we'll hire some theater students to do the voices and then shop the pilot around to all the major network's 'til someone picks it up.

How's that sound?

If that doesn't sound okay to you, or if you don't have the cash to pay for this, then shut the fuck up and stop bitching just because nobodies making you a fucking cartoon.

Major PWNAGE

...anyways it would depend who makes the cartoon too.Anime doesn't always come out great ,but seeing some videos I think they would be able to handle it.I thank Darklord_Xel for proving me wrong.(...and no I'm not an ass kisser)

it must not be very fun to actually know how to put this "cartoon" together and not have the motivation to try doing it. all you anime freaks care about is "pwning" people on forums and blogs instead of actually getting off thy ass and losing a few pounds in the outside world and get a hobby worth talkin about instead of collecting video after video of bug-eyed women, with green and blue hair.

your only pissed coz you know damn well that midway knows whats best for their games. the real "pwning" comes from midway. they got every one of you whipped into buying whatever mk game they pump out. and you know youll buy every damn one of them regardless. i'd say thats real power right there.
so go ahead and type the very best "word-play" you can muster up on this forum, coz every word you type simply proves just how whipped you are for defending a concept that will never happen, from a company that has you by the throat. BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA.....

it has everything to do with this subject. midway will NEVER and i mean NEEEVEEERRR turn their games or other media toward the "japanese cartoon" style of art. its a horrid idea that should stay at the bottom of the deepest hole in the ground. they know whats best for their franchise. not you or anyone else. go ahead and assue that im "whining" coz i know damn well im not. im simply stating my opinion that the forum "MANIA" has created had asked about. as i read the beginning headline: love it or hate it....

well, i hate it. anime has no place in the mortal kombat universe aside from the kreate a fighter pieces on Armageddon. enjoy it fellas. coz its the closest thing youll ever see to an anime-mk.

Based on that, I'm assuming you're thinking that we're talking about a 'Pokemon' or 'Beyblade' style anime. Again, I'd like to point to Afro Samurai as a better example of the direction most of us would probably want it to take, artistically speaking.

Personally, after the Deadly Alliance-Era games, that seems to be the direction Boon & Co. are going with the series.

AHHH, now i see. i figured it would be some dorky "plus sign on their heads for anger" "tear-drop on their head for awkwardness" "kappa mikey"
crap. with that being said, i could see a heavily detailed anime going over well enough. but ONLY if they detailed the shit out of it and left out the childish reactions and reCOCKulous hairstyles. im glad you pointed me in the right direction on this Darklord Xel. and in a civilized manner i might add. many thanks for pointing out the true intentions of the style in question.
