What appears on Internet the past few months. Please note that this news come from other sites. So don't blame us if there is something wrong.
MovieHole.net has posted the following news article:
Fling the joystick, press the power button off, and pull the dust-cover back over the mega drive, you can soon get your "Mortal Kombat" fix at theatres. Again.
After many a mixed-bag of rumours, Moviehole can confirm that filming on the third film, title "Mortal Kombat : Devastation", will begin in May.
Essentially skipping over the events of the second film, "Devastation" reunites the cast of the original - Christopher Lambert as Rayden, Linden Ashby as Johnny Cage, Robin Shou as Liu Kang, Chris Casamassa as Scorpion with Talisa Soto and Sandra Hess in talks to reprise their roles as Kitana and Sonya Blade, respectively - with the remaining parts being cast as we speak.
The film is being developed by Mink ["Into the Sun"] and Threshold Entertainment. The Asst.Producer is Neil James.

Considering Robin Shou himself has said that he won't be in the movie,
and seeing how the website where you got this from, whoever you are, is already copping out by saying ''don't blame us if this isn't true''...
This sounds like pure bullshit.

I love how people still believe that this movie is going to happen. How many years has this been going on? Lots, and the fact that people still believe that there's actually going to be a third movie makes me laugh.
Here's the thing, it's been years since this movie has been announced that it was in the progress of being made, though has anyone actually attempted to write a script or find locations to shoot the set or actually have actors to play the parts? No...
And the fact that wherever you got the info for this, obviously used IMDB.com as a source... why does that matter? Because that site sucks.
Anyways, I consider this to be a joke, and any other thread that continues to have people beleiving that there's going to be a third movie when there isn't going to be one in a long time. Yeah opinions, opinions... but this has been going on for years and nothing happened, do you really think I wouldn't be saying this for a reason?

An anonymous source has also provided us with a realistic release date as well - 5010.
Mmmhmmm....looks like the exact same info I've read at some random time in, oh....2005, maybe even earlier.
I guess Robin Shou looks fit to still be Liu Kang, but he said he wasn't going to be in it anyways, but also consider this:
Have you seen Prom Night? Linden Ashby is in it and he looks way way way too old to play Johnny Cage.
They absolutely have to do a reboot now if they're gonna try to pull this off successfully. New cast, new look. Which is a shame, because Christopher Lambert kicked ass as Raiden and I would've liked to have seen more of him. But you can keep Chris Cassamassa, because he didn't have any real acting to do in MK, just fighting, so a reboot on Scorp isn't necessary. And Cassamassa is a damn good fighter.
