Why, in some episodes, was she shown to be a skilled fighter...only to have her ass handed to her in most other fights?
Examples:
______________________________________________
And those are only some examples. Other fights saw her taken out early on while Siro and Lao went on to finish the battle... with Taja only coming to at the end of the fight (or within enough time to deliver a cheap shot).
So I wonder why they always sort of flip/flopped back and forth with that? I mean was she a fighter (as shown on occasion) Or was she simply a lucky theif? And if it's the latter.. then why make her appear to have some impressive skills in some eps, but not in the majority?

Examples:
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
Warrior Eternal (2 part Pilot):
Taja takes on two of the Baron's guards simultaneously, and does a superb job defeating them both and showing great moves. She later helps Siro with two more.
Cold Reality:
In the first fight with the Lin Kuei warrior, Taja is spanked..and rather hard. Though this fight didn't surprise me that much, as the Lin Kuei warrior would have had training far superior to Taja's... Still, she barely laid a hand on him. Through the whole fight it looked as if she'd never fought before.
The Essense:
She gets her ass kicked in, yet again, at Qali's hands. Again, it didn't surprise me that she LOST this fight as Qali is Edenian and has (likely) thousands of years of experience... what didn't sit well with me, was that yet again Taja was portrayed to have little or no fighting ability. A far cry from how she was depicted in the first episode.
Undying Dream:
Now, in this episode, Taja once again was shown able to handle herself in combat. When she fought that huge guy in the Cobalt mines. She did very well against him (despite Vorpax putting him down for good).

I think the better question is.
Why was she not wearing underwear in any of the episodes?Believe me,i didn't mind at all.She was kinda hot in that show,to bad it had to end.I swear, sometimes i felt like i was watching softcore porn when that show was on lol.

with all the respect....
please,get a life.
during the show Taja weared always pants, not skirts.
and about the question i'll give a SERIOUS answer:
Baron's minion aen't that strong,so i didn't surprised when she kick their asses.
she fight very well against Siann alongside with Siro, and taja snapped her neck.
She saves also siro's life during the fight against the catwoman(don't remember the episodes).
however in episode 9 she gets her ass kicked by quan chi, which gets his ass kicked by siro as well.

Really,I made you that mad with my post for you to tell me to get a life?WOW!
Anyways....
Not that i care cause i dont know you so it doesnt really effect me with what you say and shouldnt so I will say this.
Alot of the clothes that the female actors worn on that show were pretty slutty. And if you disagree with me here thats fine but its true.Even the girl from My name is earl, and the dead or alive me said so.Well she didnt say slutty she said that sometimes she felt she had hardly anything on.
BTW when i first read the post i was thinking of the lady who was by shang and i thought that was her name. But now that i remember you are talking about the chick from bloodrayne,T3 and she plays on the show on scifi. But the person should have name this,Kristanna Loken/taja from MKC.But yea,i was thinking of vorpax when i first read the topic and thats why it got my first reaction to the post.

What the hell? Sonicherosfan1 doesn't have a life because he thinks Kristanna Loken is hot? Stop being such a moron. He didn't even talk about pants or skirts.
But the truth is, I do think Taja always wore underwear in the show. In fact, her ''second'' outfit was pretty much a black bra with a transparent purple blouse.

men, seriously you both absolutely needs to get a life!!!!!!!
never complained about the witty comment about taja's "missing" underwear.
the only thing i complain about is how he tells, because as you said it's NOT true.
and btw MKC was not some kind of softcore porno movie, and he didn't either resemble to that.
and again, how in the hell he can talk about "missing" underwear if taja always weared pants?
does he have x-rays special view?
seriously,we should avoid immature behaviour on this forum,it's for the good of the community.
thanks for your support(i absolutely need a rolleyes emoticon...)

Hey guys,i already corrected myself here and i said.I was thinking about vorpax when i first replied and then i remembered who taja was.But either way alot of women on that show did go without bra and underwear and if you are a guy you probably noticed and if not then well i wont go there.
Lmao.. Ok, I have not a clue how this turned into a discussion about whether or not Taja wore underwear.. However, it does get entertainment points. For the record, Kristanna is hot, underwear or not.
As for Tracy Douglas (Vorpax) well.. She wasn't hard on the eyes either.
That being said, can we bring it back around to Taja's magically disappearing / reappearing fighting skills? Thanks

God damn it, you really need to learn some basic English, it's hard enough to take you seriously with the moronic stuff you say.
Listen, if MKC AT TIMES RESEMBLED a softcore porn movie to this one guy who made the thread (and come on, it totally did, every girl in the show is incredibly hot, and is always wearing tight outfits), it's just his opinion- how does that make him ''lifeless''? Wat the hell do you know about this guy to say that he needs to get a life? Or what do you know about me, for that matter? Why don't I have a life?
See, I think you're a moron, but I don't go around saying you have no life because I don't know anything about you.
It would be for the good of the community if you started taking English lessons, but I don't see that happening. The most immature person in this thread is you, for getting pissed off at this guy's opinion.

should i care if you or someone else get pissed off?
and again, you two really needs to grow up.
nobody comlaints about my english, and on MKo there are thousands of US citizens and english ppl who speaks english, and novody of them did complained about my english.
i don't understand why you complains about my english.
if did not undertand just don't answer.
i don't need your reply.
and about the thread,i give my opinion, instead you Zentile posted useness messages here, without giving any kind of effort or personal ideas why taja have evanescent fighting skills.

Absolutely.
Taja's fighting ability was only one of MKC's many storyline holes. In some episodes (especially Warrior Eternal) she'd display incredible physical feats, doing butterfly kicks and some awesome moves, all the while taking punches to the face etc. Most of the time however, a simple blow would be enough to knock her out - which is what makes the most sense, since the truth is, she IS just a thief with no fighting experience.
Thank you Zentile, it's appreciated.
And yeah, I suppose you're right. I guess her doing well in some later fights could be explained as she had recieved a bit more training from Kung Lao or Siro. Just kinda wish they were more consistant.

or maybe ti can be a second reason?
i don't know, but does the fighting crew change between episodes?
maybe(repeat MAYBE) different episodes had different fight coordinators,so a team chooses to make Taja stronger, other chooses to make Taja crappy...it could be possibile after all.

Anything's possible I suppose. Could be. However, the rest of the cast that were involved in fights were consistantly good. Like Shang Tsung, Vorpax, Meeka, Cian, Reptile, Siro, Kung Lao etc, etc... all of those guys fought exceptionally well every time they fought.
Could also have been different writers too. Perhaps some chose to put Taja in a better light fighting wise, while others decided it just wasn't that important and pushed Kung Lao and Siro excessively while only relying on Taja for her cunning as a theif and her smart mouth lol. Either way, she remains one of my favorite characters introduced into any kind of MK media. I'd really love to see her in a game.. however the likelyhood of that is extremely poor. Aside from KAK (which I've actually created Taja in)... but that's just not the same.

That would be a logical explanation, but Taja actually shows some of her best fighting skills right in second episode, so....
Yeah, that's true. So scratch that idea. Maybe they weren't exactly sure in how they wanted Taja to be portrayed. So after the pilot eps, they decided that perhaps she shouldn't have fighting skills on par with Siro and Kung Lao (both obviously having been trained since childhood.). Since being a thief and living on her own from place to place... Taja would likely have only picked up moderate fighting skills for some protection.
.... Or it could just be inconsistant writing.

am i wrong or kira is based on taja?
Inconsistent directing, yeah. Taja gets KOed due to a simple one blow from a lin kuei, yet withstands tons of hits all over her body while fighting with Siann. Hey, MKC was awesome anyway.
I don't see any resemblance in Kira and Taja either, by the way.

Hell yeah. I was so pissed that it only lasted one season. Seemed such a waste of a great show. A good number of the fight scenes in MKC stand out as better than some found in most movies. Also the characters were very interesting and easy to like. Vorpax was my favorite evil character. She was SO good at what she did. lmao, it was hilarious to see her playing with the heads of so many people. Just when someone thought they had her figured out.... another twist to her would develop. Awesome show.

Yeah, definitely. And it was leaps and bounds ahead of any other action show in its time, IMO. Sad that it got cancelled, it was really a quality show.

Well, theyhave similarities. Apart from the red hair, both of them live in ilegal ways (Taja being a wandering thief; Kira being a weapon dealer), both of them were inserted in teams of 3 (Taja; Kung Lao; Siro / Kira; Kobra; Kabal)... ok this last argument may be a little stupid, but it is a similarity! lol
If you think about it, Taja could be a wonderfull evil character. If she have not found Siro or Kung Lao and started to live with them, and learning the meaning of "family", she would most probably wander the Earthrealm by herself and allying with someone powerfull at her side, or just continue to steal and kill (we don't know if she was a murderer, but in an episode we can see Taja snapping Siann's neck like a twig.. so, she CAN kill, and if not in the company of the good guys she could kill to survive). So Taja's personality is easily influenceable, and if allied to evil, Taja would be very similar to Kira. Kira may have that tuff personality, and be a quiet person (although a vicious fighter in the battle field), but i figure her as an easily influenceable person aswell.
So, they do have some similarities.
Yes, they were both women, they were both mortal kombat characters, they were both from earth realm, both show cleavage in their costumes. Lots of things in common!
But I don't think Taja would ever turn evil. Right in the first episode, when she had Jen hostage, she let her go even though she could've held onto her or killed her. She has principles, and despite being a thief, she's kind. She gives lots of money to that mentally ill beggar who's son had been taken by the Lin Kuei... She could never kill an innocent person.
