I don't think the movies need to be remade. Personally I thought the first MK movie was awesome..Annihilation well..it was okay but I don't think it was so bad it needs remade.

The Mortal Kombat film franchise really is a mess... It's been literally ten years since the original motion picture, eight since Annihilation. While I may just have creative standards, that is just completely unacceptable. If nothing else the lighting and difference in picture quality would simply destroy any continuity within the films if they continue as it is.

Films and their sequels must follow a certain inner rythm... Their scores must have underyling themes that are revisited and retouched at the appropriate moments, characters who retain key development points, and, as such, Mortal Kombat films must simply be epic. They must be dramatic, moving and tragic. They must put all other game adaptions to shame!

With that said, in my opinion, the MK film franchise must be completely remade!

To me, the MK movie franchise needs to start over again and go for a Batman Begins type vibe with that Nolan-ish influence on the way it's directed. Like RussoRoss said, the movies have to be very epic. We need to get that feeling of depth in the story and investment in the different characters, mainly the heroes like Liu Kang.

I think the first MK movie was great and did do a lot of things nicely, but storywise, they screwed up on some things like Johnny Cage beating Goro, Sub-Zero and Scorpion being Shang Tsung's mindless slaves, Kitana being in there, etc.

I think that being true to the MK1 storyline and really getting the characters portrayed correctly as well as strong performances and great action scenes, the MK movies could be excellent.

People,People Please. To start over they don't have to remake the movies, neither do they have to ignore MKA. They could just set MK3 YEARS AND YEARS after MKA. Maybe give a few flashbacks to the first Two MK films and then move foward. So that's all they have to do. It's no biggie. And i didn't think MKA was that bad. Sure people with no knolege of MK will be very confuse but us fans know what was going on.

I know my MK history, and I still say MK:A was horrible. It's not an ok movie, it's outright a waste of Movie material. This Movie is so astounding cheap that I would've thought it were a Fan made Movie if it weren't for the choreographed fight sequences.

I doubt even Uwe Boll Movies look that bad. It's only place is to be forgotten in the stream of time. MK:A should be completely ignored and be replaced by the 3rd Movie.

I definitely think they should redo the 2nd one. I even made a thread on why Kitana should be the reason why MK2, but I doubt they’re going to, since producers refer to this next film as MK3 or Devastation. I think the whole remake rumor that we heard on the Shinokx page was just that; maybe he misinterpreted the news... but anyway.
I still hope in some future that they do, MK2 could tell a story that’s never been told before. For now I just hope they make a great 3rd film.

I think they should redo the entire franchise.
Do what Midway did with Shaolin Monks and alter the Ninja's uniforms so that they don't look like movie pallet swaps (more so than MKA) revamp the script to be more realistic, up the violence and blood, don't make stupid plot changes like The whole Shinnok, Shao Kahn, Raiden being related thing.

Both films should be remade, I agree. The first movie was alright to kill an hour, but it's far from what an MK film deserves. I'm not even going to get into MKA, that movie is an even worse sequel than Exorcist II: The Heretic.

Any MK movie rated PG-13 will suck. MK shouldn't be a 10 year old(with ADD)'s movie. The movie needs to be kind of a mix between Kill Bill & Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon style... if you get what I mean. Serious but over the top, simple but thick plot, characters you care about, good script.. good cinematography... and movie that would get nominated for oscars and shit.. but that will never happen. Why? Well, just look above as an example - MK fans acting like little children - so, they give us childish products.

I think Annihilation should be remade, but not the original...its a classic and it was a smash at the box office. The producers would only see it as an inconvenience to remake a hollywood blockbuster like Mortal Kombat...annihilation on the other hand could use use some work but i would still be happy if they went forward with the trilogy, because although Annihilation was a complete mess, if the new movie can be better than i would rather have them go ahead and follow up annihilation, but i don't care what they do. I just want my MK3 movie already its been way too long and im becoming impatient
