Kill Bill made lots of money.

They just need a good director and make a good movie.

Kill Bill is not a video game.

It would not make a lot being R

You're right.

Kill Bill is a movie.

And we're talking about a Mortal Kombat MOVIE.

It shouldn't matter if it's based on a book, comic, or a video game. If Quentin Tarantino made a Mortal Kombat rated R you bet your ass people would see that movie.

Don't be stupid. You knew exactly what I was implying, and you expressed it in your last paragraph.

First of all, Taratino's movies are like a coin flip, there's a certain chance they will be good or bad.

secondly, my point was a movie based off of a video game is difficult to make money with if its R because the highest demographic of gaming fanatics are under 17

When I say fanatic I mean people who will see the movie whether its a bomb or not.

Yes the 18-24 is probably the second strongest demographic of gamers but they would be more skeptical and less willing to see a potentially cheezy movie than someone 17 or under.

Therefore, I claim the biggest contributors to an R rated Mortal Kombat are fanatics over 17 and parents who take their under 17 children to see it.

Also its stupid to make an R rating (even if its Mortal Kombat) the standard for a good movie.

I dunno LoganMK, Freddy vs Jason was rated R and that made a bundle of cash. An R rated MK movie would be a cool idea, doubt it will happen though cuz the bloody movie companies will wanna pump as much money out of it as possible and try go for a younger audiancefurious

I'm gonna go with LoganMK on this one. I very much liked the MK movie and it wasn't rated R. I like alot of movies that aren't rated R. And even though Mortal Kombat the games are very bloody and violent and filled with gore, that's just because it's a video game. Mortal Kombat used all the blood and gore as the shock factor, and now it's long gone.
I wouldn't mind it being R rated. But it's not necessary. That's a dumb standard.

Did Freddy V Jason do well in Britian/UK (forgive me I don't know your specific location)? Because Skelepimp and I are from USA and Freddy V. Jason did not do well over here.

I forgot to take into account different countries. So my claim in a sense is biased to the US. Thanks bub.

Res Evil was a good second movie that was R. The only way this thing will fail is if they put those stupid animalities in it. PG13 or R this movie will be better than the 2nd one, because they have the cast from the first one back! R would be nice but not likely unless it is an option on the dvd. I myself would love an R rating for swearing or extreme gore, but don't foresee it happening.

True but the second REsident Evil movie was R for nudity and language (I think)

People are saying make MK R for the traditional game gore.

Kill Bill was amazing IMO.

What MK really needs is:

1o A good director.

2o A true Mk fan in the studio that KNOWS about the story.

According to a survey carried out by the \
Actually,

Interactive Digital Software Association, 60% of Americans play games, either on consoles, handheld devices or PCs. Of those gamers, 61% are adults; 43% are women; and the average age is 28. Figures from Europe and Japan tell a similar story. A generation that grew up with games has simply kept on playing. And as gamers age, their disposable income increases, making gaming an extraordinarily lucrative market.

I know what you meant by fanatic, but with the majority of gamers being adults, I'd say 17 is a little low for the classification of average aged fanatic.

Gaming is one of my three major hobbies, music being the other, and I'm 21. I usually see any kind of movie, including game movies, even if I know they'll suck. Just because #3 hobby is moviegoing. Though, lately I have slacked off a bit.

I have several friends older than me who share very similar interests. So, there are a lot more of us old fanatics out there then you may know.

hahaha, I'm not sure if you realize this but surveys are among the mostly highly unaccurate research methods next to mail in Questionaires.

When you obtained this survey did you ask questions like:

How many people did they survey- There are quite a lot of people in America, did they survey everyone one of them?

Did they take a Random Sample- which includes but is not limited to Age, Regional location, Economic status, Econimic prosperity, race, etc.

[This is significant because they will only state 60% play video games based on the people they surveyed.....easily biased. Also the average age of the people they surveyed that played was 28 not America, thats just how research works. Same goes for the other percentages.]

Did the survey takers have good people skills- Some survey takers suck at talking to people, also after time they will become frusterated by lack of response and bad treatment which will affect their behavior and screw up the data.

Were the questions precise and fully understood by the participants- some of these people think they can go a round at MK and say they play video games which means they have PLAYED, but don't PLAY video games.

The point: making absolute conclusions based on ONE method of research that is very unrelible does not accurately display data of the topic or hyposthesis in which it it related to. All researchers will tell you the same thing.

However, do not get me wrong. I am not denying that generations that have grown up with video games are getting older and continue to play, what I am saying is that they are still a minority compared to the rest of the population save teens and children at least for another decade or so.

I don't see why they wouldn't make a R rated movie. A lot of MK fans are around 17 or older *just assuming, so don't jump on my throat por favor* and the others must be use to the blood. Why would a parent let their kid play a bloody, gory game, but not let them see a less bloody, gory movie. that's kinda being a hippocrit on the parent's side...

well... if you go for the origanal fans, yeah, we'r all grown up. but they want a *new* fasn base. with freash minds to not quit corrupt, but just enugh to get their sales up.

and if they did make it R, it'd probably have more cheesy romance crap thrown in it. i'm sorry but it's a fighting movie. a few cute things are fin but i'm sorry, if i have to sit thru a cheese "No! Johhny!" scean again i'll shoot myself.

i'm a girl and i want good looking Subzero and a lot of violence. ^_^

Pff it just sounds like someone turned 17. Just teasing. Unfornutely half of the times movies suck is they forget to tell a story. Going R for just gore sakes is stupid. Going R in order to tell the story isn't. Of course some people are happy with mindless entertainment.

Alot of Mortal Kombat fans have been around since 1992 now is 12 years later and people are 12 years older. Plus people find ways to get into an R rated movie very easily without any ID, I know I have in the past. Making Mortal Kombat have an R rating would capture the true aspect of Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat is all about life and death, and struggle. Now depending on what story plot they follow, there could be limits on the gore we see. For example, if this movie were to follow Shao Kahn's rule, we would see an Extermination Squad strike down many victims with bloddy and gory affects.

Now if the movie had a good story, people would see beyond the gore in this movie and see some great qualities out of it and this movie could turn into a major blockbuster depending on the ratings. I am all for a rated R Mortal Kombat movie because I want to see some of my favorite fatalities brought to the big screen and watch people fight to the death in bloody glory.

Yeah to have a fatality in the movie would be great, I'm not talking weak ones like sonya breaking kano's neck, or shang tsung taking souls....actually what the hell am I talking about...confused there were some pretty cool ones, like sub zero freezing the sock headed guy, johnny cages fatality/friendship to scorpion... I'll just shut up now.

I agree with you, but you have to think about the entertainment factor of it.

Take Ultimate Fighting Championship for example. We like it because its an all out brawl, but it doesn't make for an entertaining movie, and thats my concern about making it R for the violence and gore

Said it before, I'll say it again, do it kill bill style. Some may think it's mindless to have bloody limbs flying all over the place, but I DO NOT. I think it's an insult for the hardcore MK fan to be handed a PG rated F*gfest . For f*ck sakes, we're dealing with ninjas here, and we're dealing with a tournament in which the ultimate goal is to murder your opponent in the most violent manner possible. We're talking about the thing that brought us all here in the first place. Did you really support the MK franchise over Street Figher back in '92 because of its realistic fighting? Or because you could rip someones spinal column out, or tear their heart out of their chest. Stamp this beyatch with an R and call it a day. GAME OVAH
