I'm not buying into any of this, but damn. That is worth a viewing.

The cast list is so major for just a web-series.

Stryker and Cyrax are my two favourite 2D era characters. Didn't expect them to be showing up.

Usually a "web series" is freely available on the internet.
This thing is a "digital media" -- a series that people are going to have to pay for, and will probably wind up broadcast on television and maybe sold on a DVD, as well. So, having recognisable names isn't all together surprising.

I dare say a few parts have been won with their cache value in mind.
There's a reasonable enough chance that this is being looked at as an experiement for WB, as much as a release for MK. Direct to DL releases are still a relative rarity, but are reasonably expected to continue to grow.

It's not going to be valuable enough to invest A-list dollars, but the tried and proven way to grow this kind of media is to invest in audiences who will actively seek it out (common strategy for development of digital only TV broadcasts, for example). The fact that you've got actors from Star Trek and Stargate and brands like that, probably not too surprising. These people will help make the money back, and spread the awareness and expectation of the distribution method.

Helo fucking Agathon man. I can't believe I'm excited for Stryker, the worst character ever (yeah you heard me).

I'm surprised Cyrax and Rayden are in, I wonder how their characters will be portrayed. Will Rayden actually be a Thunder God, or will it he be a more realistic version?
Will Cyrax be a cyborg? I'm predicting he might not even be Lin Kuei and just start off in the Special Forces.

I think it's becoming more and more clear that this will be a departure from Rebirth. Should be the best of both worlds. Cool casting thus far.

Is this the same project that made Reptile and baraka humans? Or is this real deal? Do they copy the real story or just do that same shit I saw in that aweful trailer?

They've been promoting that they will be following something closer to the story this time, or so we've been led to believe. Matt Mullins is returning as Johnny Cage, who died in the Rebirth short film, so I would not assume this will have any real connection to rebirth other than the actors and director.

Tracy Spiridakos is part of the cast, but in a yet undetermined role. Given the fact she's female though, it narrows it down somewhat. It's a little strange they want this one to remain a secret when we know so many of the other cast members and characters though. Perhaps there's a reason behind it.

Tracy Spiridakos would make a great Sindel, IMO. Thats who i'd guess at her playing. We already know theres a 'Queen' character too.
