Tancharoen says there will be nine episodes in the MK live action series. Each will run for 7-10 minutes – and will explore the history of the characters in the game. (Some of the big characters, like Scorpion and Sub Zero might have their stories split into two parts.)



Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon is working with Tancharoen as he goes through pre-production. That was particularly exciting for the director, as his obsession with the franchise is ... well, thorough.

New character confirmed: "Blue"

According to Tracy Spiridakos' Twitter:

"Just finished filming on #MortalKombat today. What a great project to be a part of! Very excited! @RyRobbins @JeriLRyan @MichaelJaiWhite"

and

"My character is new to the #mortalkombat world her name is Blue!"

[Spiridakos] was also asked if there might be more to "Blue" but declined to comment. So, I wouldn't necessarily get married to the notion that there's a new character called Blue. She might very well be Kitana, or Sindel, or something along those lines.

Yes, MKO is aware of this stuff, and yes, there's going to be news.

I'm not sure how anyone could mistake those two people, but yeah they're not the same. The naked guy is Jamie Bamber, a british actor, not Tahmoh Penikett.

Special Forces had a chick called Gemini,who was basically your handler in the field,Colonel Campbell-style. Maybe Blue is gonna be something like that.

What if Blue was a reference to the red Ninja in chains?

I know this is meant to be a digital series but do you think that possibly a tv channel will pick it up maybe for fall? I mean surely it can't be just to help promote MK9. Warner Bros could really do amazing things with the franchise.

It will, in all likelihood, find it's way to television and possibly DVD, at some point. In much the same way ridiculous motion comics have.

So, they did away with the Rebirth premise. Boo.

Tracy has been added to the cast list. An easier to read version of our cast coverage is still in the works.

I think it is likely if she's an extra character or something, however, each video being 7-10 minutes long kind of makes that feel pointless.

Maybe she's Frost in disguise?
